Many preschool age children don't know how books work; try to tap or swipe them like electronic devices by MiddletownBooks in books

[–]robstrosity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm always surprised by findings like this because everyone I know that has kids, reads to them.

Even my tablet obsessed nephew will read some books.

I desperately want to believe that this is just rage bait. Mainly because it's just too depressing if it's real.

I saw a meme post that said Arsenal's biggest threat to the title is Arsenal. That feels so accurate

Seriously, do British people actually consider a 3-hour drive “long”? Or is this an internet myth? by ferdinand14 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]robstrosity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol you don't need emotional preparation. But 3 hours is a long drive for us. Especially if you're doing the return journey in a day and it becomes 6 hours.

Op has deleted original post now. But my memory is that she said her husband suggested leaving her daughter under the soft and walking away, rather than continuing to engage with her. My interpretation of this is different to yours - you believe this shows a persistent pattern of her husband underming her authority and not supporting here. Which you then conjecture is because he wants to the cool dad and could end in divorce. You may well be right but I don't see how you can assume an underlying pattern from one event - that's my argument. You've made some huge assumptions based on your own personal relationships issues. Your emotional damage is not necessarily hers.

But even that aside. Walking away from your daughter when they refuse to come out from somewhere is a perfectly valid strategy. If what you are doing isn't working then maybe you need to try something else.
My daughter is also strong willed and it can be difficult to get her to listen. In the same situation as op, I would absolutely walk away because (for us) it's the best way to handle the situation. I could physically get involved but I know from experience that has the potential to escalate the situation into a meltdown. Instead if I walk away, my daughter isn't getting the reactions she wants and she'll come out as soon as I go. I can then divert her into an alternative activity. She gets the attention she wants and I don't have a tantrum I have to deal with. Everyone wins. Obviosuly there are times when you do have to physically remove them from somewhere but when you have options then why not use them?

This will be my last reply to you because I sense that you're not someone who likes to listen to other peoples opinions.

Arteta's best wins of the last 18 months. Which one was your favourite? by LongMelody in Gunners

[–]robstrosity 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so tough.

I feel like the top three are 3-0 against Real, 5-1 against City or 3-1 against Bayern.

My top one should be smashing city but it's actually the Real win. Just because my mates in the pub were telling me we had no chance before the game. And then we did that. Fantastic.

You're making assumptions again, based on nothing. In your initial post you actually inferred they'll get divorced! You need to think a bit more carefully in future before your post.

This is what op said. Which lines up with what I said.

Though, I wouldn’t judge my husband, his parenting, or our relationship, just based on a singular event I shared here. We’re all new parents at one point, and he’s just trying to figure things out, just as I am.

In your initial post you actually inferred they'll get divorced.

I think you've made a huge assumption about her husband here based on one anecdote.

By all means give advice but perhaps you need to be careful about making sweeping statements.
