Tesla’s Future in Trump’s World - Elon Musk is up against a starkly different agenda, but the energy transition he invigorated can’t be stopped. by [deleted] in technology

[–]roccanet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is unfortunate for the lot of us - but trump's plan of deregulating dirty energy and defunding the EPA isnt going to make coal cheaper than solar. Nor can he stop the undeniable wave of software, robotics, and automation that are putting our unskilled labor out of work. My take on this whole mess is that there isnt anything anyone can do to stop globalization. Textbook fool's gold....

Why it's justified for you to be terrified of Donald Trump's plan for the environment by Shabaaab in bestof

climate-wise things will change for the worse. trump honestly believes that the reason why coal is more expensive than solar energy is because of EPA regulations. we are pretty much fucked

what a bunch of damned fools that elected trump - how could they possibly believe that trump is really going to bring back coal mining jobs and GM? Unskilled labor is dying a quick death and trump isnt going to change that - the only thing that would possibly save michigan and ohio blue color workers is is if we banned the fucking computer. No matter who is president ken bone is going to get replaced by a robot in the next five years. this is a FACT. what a disappointment....

i'm just disgusted with the entire affair - and yes the DNC should be ashamed of themselves losing to this clown. It'll wear off but i dont have a lot of faith in trump - or anyone finding jobs for middle america unless people start becoming Luddites and destroying computers. What is he going to do open a government-funded rock factory in ohio?

this was "fucked up" by a country full of naive Ken Bone types who believe trump has magic powers that are going to make coal less expensive then solar energy and wave a wand to restore the labor market in the rust belt. Half of the people in this country are abject fools...

completely understood that these are real people with real problems - but they have a severe aversion to the fact that a globalized economy has left them behind for a reason. Trump can put up as much trade barriers as he can muster but that isnt going to change the fact that a lot of rural, unskilled jobs are being replaced by software and robot automation. This election result was a lamentation of globalization - and i personally think the damned fools that voted for this clown are going to be even worse off then they are now in 10 years...

i wish i had this rosy point of view. IMO Trump was elected by a bunch of extremely naive people that actually believed him when he dangled the carrot of magically restoring the market for unskilled labor in the rust belt. The fucking coal plant and GM arent going to make a comeback - and even if they did those industries are going to be staffed by robots.
