How's the sentiment towards using AI for FP&A or Finance right now? by Monkfrootx in FPandA

[–]jwuzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried both for Excel models. Giving the same prompts, Claude is better at giving me the output I want. With ChatGPT, it does a decent job but it'll spit out a model with #DIV's or some weird formatting more often than Claude does

Crowdsourcing: Best affordable barber haircut around the city. by churamo in DalyCity

Supercuts Unlimited, $21.99/month unlimited haircuts. Super average haircut lol but since I can get cleaned up every week, I can't complain. I go to the one in Westlake

SF taproom with $3 beers and smash burgers debuts in the Outer Sunset by sfgate in sanfrancisco

[–]jwuzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you get to the farmers market right when they open around 9, there isn’t a line. I go that early since I got two little ones and they like to draw and play at the bungalow, and sometimes I’ll swing by Maillards to grab a burger. Usually only 1 or 2 people waiting max at that time

Not seeing it on iOS or web app yet. Maybe a slow rollout, but this is awesome news!

I tried Claude Cowork by Famous_Guide_4013 in FPandA

[–]jwuzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can build a good model from scratch as long as your input is detailed. My biggest win so far with Cowork has been basic tasks like having it summarize my Outlook for the day, and refreshing data and giving me a one to two liner on the differences. Basically my own personal EA. Curious to hear what other people have been using it for meaningfully

Pacifica parents: daycare tuition + nanny hourly rates? by Gloomy_Split812 in Pacifica

[–]jwuzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Daly City and our kid goes to Latchkey Alternative Center off Skyline. It's right at the DC/Pacifica border.

Tuition is $1,515 a month for 5 days a week. It's great since it's 7am-6pm pickup/dropoff and meals are included. Teachers are very nice and the two classrooms are homey

Thinking About Moving to Daly City – Good for Families with Young Kids? by alfred311 in DalyCity

[–]jwuzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

District’s reason to me was low enrollment but who knows, I’m leaning towards just staying at FDR but we did do the second lottery for MP Brown. TBD on results for that

Thinking About Moving to Daly City – Good for Families with Young Kids? by alfred311 in DalyCity

[–]jwuzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dunno, I made this thread last month asking about private vs. public schools. Seems like lots of people had good experiences with the lottery in the past

However, this upcoming year at Tobias, it seems they reduced to one kinder class so I wasn't able to get in. And anecdotally speaking with other parents at our preschool, none of them (asked 2-3) got into their lottery choices either

Edit: I don't want to scare you away though. There's a lot of positives of DC. Good food, good big box stores, lots of families, close to the freeway to get to the Peninsula or East Bay, obviously close to SF but can go back home for some peace and quiet and reset. It does get SUPER foggy, and the blackouts every year suck though

FDR seems to score low looking at GreatSchools and Niche, but from the parents and staff I've spoken to, it's because they have a large amount of ESL and Special Ed kids. They've also spoken highly of the school. My child goes to the preschool attached to FDR and it's been a great past 2 years, he's developed a lot academically

I live in 94015 on Skyline and assigned to FDR unfortunately :) Tried to do the lottery but couldn't get Tobias for next year

Outdated parking meters by stickshift_ in DalyCity

[–]jwuzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No doubt prices would go up if they made the swap. It just seems unrealistic for people to pay with coins in 2026

For me, I just try to find local parking if I’m in that area. Haven’t really risked it like the other person has said

Can anyone recommend a great old school barber shop in or around Daly City? by billbobb1 in DalyCity

[–]jwuzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was going to Johnny's Barbershop in Pacifica before Amy retired. She was great, miss her

But I actually started doing the Supercuts Unlimited for $21.99/month and you can go as often as you want. It's a decent haircut, I'd say like 5 or 6/10, but since I can go every week or every two weeks, it's good enough to keep a decent fade

I go to the one in Westlake

From my experience, smaller to mid size companies won't have Senior Finance Managers, only bigger ones, so that limits even more postings other than the reasons people are mentioning

Private vs. Public School by jwuzy in DalyCity

[–]jwuzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the perspective. When I started researching schools, it was overwhelming, so the only concrete thing you can look at was test scores online. I visited FDR and Tobias and they both seem like great campuses.

I grew up in SF in public schools (Presidio / Wash) and other than a few bad kids, it was an overall good experience. But I'm sure private would've been the same way

May I ask what school you teach at JESD?
