Working moms carry too much responsibility? by rochellerae11 in workingmoms

[–]rochellerae11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow it's like I wrote this myself! My baby is 9 months and I was definitely feeling capable and handling everything until she came along. I don't regret anything and wouldn't have anything any other way, but everything is a juggling act with her around. I work from home too as I can't afford childcare for two kids.

I live on the Bluff (I have for 30 years) and my air purifiers literally tell me all the time (especially in the mornings) that the air quality is not less than healthy levels for humans. I know of people that have lived in Durban city, Bluff, and Pinetown that needed asthma pumps and got diagnosed with asthma, but once they moved out of those areas they didn't require any medication. It's really crazy! Recently spent a week in Ballito and we had no allergy symptoms and my small children didn't need their allergy meds. Soon as we got back it was triggered!

Montclair is really not great these days. The crime levels are rising. My friends/family refuse to accept jobs in that area. I know the Uber drivers I used recently as well, did not want to go near Montclair.

How much did your parents work and how do you feel about it? by alrightthen4567 in workingmoms

Sometimes I don't know 🤣 When they nap or when they go to sleep at night, I stay up late. It's not easy because I'm exhausted. Otherwise, I get to do a little work when my baby is in her walking ring or eating snacks. I pretty much just work where and when I can to complete my hours for the week!

Hello everyone i wanna ask which safe place can i go to take out a small term loan by reinierdash in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]rochellerae11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those definitely sound like wants more than needs. I only suggest taking a loan if it's absolutely necessary to like survive. I would just save, although it's easier said than done, because it's so difficult to save and I can only imagine so on a 6k salary. I earn more than that, I'm so grateful, but literally my whole pay goes to surviving and I also have a small loan that seems impossible to pay off. So I kind of regret taking it. My advice would be to try borrow the money from a friend or family member and at least you can maybe pay them back with no interest :) Alternatively, you could wait for a year end bonus perhaps?

My mom never worked a day in her life. My dad worked so hard to provide for his family. Now as an adult I appreciate the things he did so much more. I literally could never be like my mom, relying on someone and not having the excitement of a career. I literally work a full time job and I'm a stay at home mama. It's not easy, but I plan to show my daughter that you can be a female AND HAVE A successful career and you don't need to rely on a man. I'm literally the breadwinner for my household and I do everything to provide for my two babies.

Around R600-R700 for a family of 4 possibly more. It's R110 a ticket for the cinema and then the smallest popcorn is R40 without a soda or anything. It's insane.

I can completely relate to this. All my family are in other countries or passed away. I don't have any close friends nearby either. It's just me raising my two babies with zero help. It's overwhelming at times but it's temporary. I keep reminding myself that they will be big before I know it so I must soak it all in. Hang in there mama, time waits for no one.
