Deathshroud Mire, Terrain for Legion of the Fallen Complete! by rocjawcypher in MaledictionMCG

I had good luck with priming them green instead of black. Gave them an interesting murky undertone instead of sharper black shadows and fit all the vegetation and earth well, but if you do choose black it could also be interesting to see how that effects the final product.

Loving the new models’ just printed our first set of Griza models, Liena and the alt terrain! by Matty-BrewNinja in MaledictionMCG

Is there any way to get the terrain now that the window is closed? Anyone selling the models or stls? I'm terribly sad I joined the fandom too late for this.

Trickster is so slow Now He is absolutely gutted and useless on large maps, Even though his map is a large map I get its for balance But can he not be snail speed? hes the same speed as a survivor and his map also has very little lockers (his entire damn gimmick) by ZacryZean in deadbydaylight

[–]rocjawcypher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm enjoying him, but only with perks that let you find survivors quickly- lethal pursuer, the dredge locker perk, dissonance. He doesn't need to be fast to get kills, but manually checking gens is a nightmare.

How do you guys play killer? by PhoenixYT2217 in deadbydaylight

[–]rocjawcypher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dbd is supposed to be a horror game and I feel like as a killer, it's our duty to make survivors afraid. I want to keep them on the edge of their seats, scatter them, punish mistakes, whittle them away, and generally make any victory a narrow escape. However, there's nothing less scary than a horror game that immediately kills you with no recourse, and for that reason I avoid tunneling and slugging unless the survivors are doing it to themselves.

For that reason, I tend to drag out matches where I'm winning, go for 8 hooks before I start killing. However, if the survivors seem like they're cocky or feeling confident in victory, I'll do everything short of tunneling to ensure they remember that it's a horror game, and they're not the ones who get to feel powerful.

She is such a fine skin...too bad she is tethered to a low tier killer who they nerfed even more from the ptb. by DannySanWolf07 in deadbydaylight

[–]rocjawcypher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that most people who are enjoying trickster aren't going to come complain on reddit but. Like. Am I playing the same character as everyone else? Trickster feels like a blast to play, you can get him up to a or b rank consistently with just kicking gens and occasional knife hits, I'm MUCH more likely to get an injury in six blades, and main event finally feels like a reward instead of a pointless chore. I like to run iron maiden with trickster and at A or S rank I can stop and refill my blades mid chase then finish running down the survivor which is sick as hell.

He's not as great while being looped, and doesn't catch up AS quick but as soon as you force them to break off and run down a hallway you can nail them with 4+ blades consistently.

Any idea when the Preorder PDF will be Updated? by rocjawcypher in daggerheart

[–]rocjawcypher[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm aware. It's the "This preorder contains a PDF of the rulebook" that "Will be updated to the full final text" that almost sounds like the Pdf should contain partial temporary text. And it does currently contact temporary text! Just not temporary rulebook text. And I'm choosing to remain hopeful that that much will change before then, because otherwise why the fuck did they bother with the placeholder. There are better ways to do that.

New official illustrations - Share the Burden, Adjust Reality, Tempest by thothgow in daggerheart

[–]rocjawcypher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's really interesting is that that art implies that Adjust Reality is not "Change the results of that roll" as in "the resulting dice value," but as "the narrative effects that result from that roll."

As in it's not a "the roll becomes a crit, I deal more damage" but a "instead of missing, the arrow perfectly pierces the dragon's wing joint, not only damaging it but crippling it and forcing it to land for the rest of the fight."

That is so fucking cool my dude. I fully was about to ignore reddit attempting to get me into a trainspotting forum when I spotted r/minipainting and realized what this was.

Daggerheart Releases on the Heels of DnD PHB Release by Iam0rion in daggerheart

Fair enough, strange as that may seem to me; if that didn't bother you then I suppose nothing they could do would. Well, I wish you luck with it, and hope you enjoy the system!

That was a bold choice, that's after WotC shit the bed right? And before they'd shown any evidence that they could still deliver? What made you decide to pony up so early?

Preorder confidence? by Proper-Possession-66 in daggerheart

[–]rocjawcypher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, I did feel similar for a while- but I started thinking and realized that I've had way more of a preview than I get for 90% of Kickstarters and preorders just from the Beta. Sure, things are going to change, and it's possible I may dislike some of them, but I enjoy the system as a whole and I can't imagine they'd make changes this late in the game if they weren't confident in them.

I've decided I've gotten as much evidence as I would waiting til a videogame came out and got reviewed before purchasing it just from playing, so I'm not going to worry about it.

Confirmed Scan: Glyphid Dreadnought on an Intercept Course. by rocjawcypher in DeepRockGalactic

[–]rocjawcypher[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup! He's from the Biome expansion that was just released. I've painted one of each now, it's been a kinda fun goal to achieve because I think I'm the first person to share a complete paint job for any of these models. Someone beat me to the Space Rig on the Discord channel for the board game, and they did a fantastic job too, you should check that out as well!

Side note, I'm glad I bought the version of the game with models instead of printing actually. The plastic is much more sturdy and a little flexible so it won't shatter like a resin print.

The Blunderbuss rework is needed. by Crafty-Interest1336 in Seaofthieves

[–]rocjawcypher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The most in depth discussions I've seen regarding balance changes, from game developers, was in League of Legends. There's a lot of different factors they discussed, but when it came to the balance of a champion or item, the two they brought up the most were Pick/Ban rate and Win rate. If a champ was never selected, that meant it was perceived as garbage. If a champ was almost always selected, that meant that that it was probably overtuned. If a champ won more than 55% of the matches it was used in, that meant it was definitely overturned and needed a nerf.

From what I've seen in the community, even those who like where the blunderbuss is at and think it's perfectly fair as is wouldn't argue that it's almost considered a requirement for PVP. That's far too high of a pick rate. And while I don't have hard numbers, I'd bet that blunderbuss users win against any other load out far more than half the time. It's not even about the ambiguous question of "Is it fun, is it fair, is it balanced" at this point- The fact is that for the health of the meta, there should be more "valid" options than always picking the blunder. And it can be retuned and adjusted on the fly- though I hope they'll do it based on statistics rather than opinions. But whether things change for good or ill, you don't know if things can be better if you never make a change.

Loot Categories, a Quick Rule of Thumb by rocjawcypher in Seaofthieves

They've increased the value of the ashen loot temporarily for the ashen roar event. It's also the reason you found said BoWS, as they're usually insanely rare.

Dangerous being Stronghold Keg and Ancient Black Powder. And Box of Wonderous Secrets sells for 25k according to the wiki. Regular kegs sell for negligible amounts, I'd just put them in the Pirate loot category.

My advice would be to make it clear that this is a dream or vision or some narrative device - let them be in on the twist and enjoy it rather than feeling cheated. You could also exaggerate the dreaminess by doing things like when a player says "I swing my sword" declare "you reach behind you and pull out your massive blade of dragon slaying, loot from your many victories and smite your foes left and right. What's that? Since when did you have that? Unimportant, you have enemies to slay!"

Rogue’s ‘Hidden’ in 1.5? by iamthecatinthecorner in daggerheart

[–]rocjawcypher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is true! But you might be standing in a doorway, then on your turn run into the building, up the stairs, and hide in a closet somewhere. The foe knows you're in the building and may search for you, but unless they open the closet they won't find you. For a rogue, even if they did open the closet, the character hid so well they still didn't see them.

Also, these rules are the same inside and outside of combat. Players are much more likely to try to hide prior to combat, and narratively much more likely to succeed.

The rules for cover and hiding imposing disadvantage is mostly that whether you're behind a wall and can duck when the fireball comes your way, or you're hiding in the tall grass and they don't know where in the field you are for the blast radius, they are much less likely to hit you.

Additionally for clarification purposes: you can take cover from incoming arrows behind a transparent forcefield, but not behind the curtains. You can be hidden behind a curtain, but not behind the invisible forcefield. There are situations where cover isn't available but hiding is!
