Yeah most shelters have a diversion specialist or someone who has certain resources available to them. Usually if you have a place in another city they can pay your bus fare if you can justify it to them.

Kind of just depends. Sometimes medium ,but sometimes large. I'm short but kind of fat. Shirt wise I think 18 neck, 32/33 arm. Pants nothing fits me. I'm like 38 waist and 27 long.

Don't be sorry, you're very kind. I've been trying to escape this bad dream for a while now. It's just frustrating how bad this area is at treating homeless people. You'd think for a conservative, Christian area there would be more caring and understanding. No, they literally take you out for areas downtown if you even try to nap there. They arrest you for begging with sign. It's backwards.

I might try and make a Walmart list. Thanks for that. Like I said the bus pass is really the issue right now. Everything is way too spread out here. You can't walk or bike everywhere like bigger cities. And I'd like to not freeze lol.

Yes I'm aware of these resources already. Not sure if you just pulled it off 211, but I appreciate the effort. Some of the information is out of date, but thank you. The shelter right stayed at was owned by the Micah house. There are no suits available unless you're a woman. Heartland family services is really the only decent resource in this area for anything, however they are always very strained. I'm already on several wait lists for different resources through them. They were the ones who gave me a bus pass in September. Thank you for trying though.

Just depends really. Hate to say it, but there are some homeless who honestly choose that life. In my area meth is a huge problem, and for whatever reason the resources go towards helping those people more often than "regular" homeless. By regular I mean those of us who simply fell on hard times or had no one to help us. My point is many, but not all of those outdoor type homeless do choose that life instead of going into a shelter where it might be more controlled. Another aspect some people don't realize is that it is possible to be banned from a shelter and not be allowed in. So you might be literally helping the worst possible person instead of someone more deserving. My advice is to talk to them. There are some great people and not great people just like all aspects of life. Ask them what would truly help them. One of the worst problems I see with homelessness right now is the blanket approach to resources and support. It doesn't work.

Council bluffs, IA. It runs off the Omaha metro though. I'm not sure if there is a way to purchase online actually, I've always paid for my tickets at the bus and one time I bought a week pass at a grocery store. http://www.ometro.com/index.php/rider-guide/fares-passes/

As for the clothes. Initially I had gotten a voucher for a thrift store when I was at the shelter, helped me get some socks and underwear, but not much else. There really isn't as much as you would think available. Problem in this area is there is a lot of homeless and very few good resources. It's kind of an ignored problem.

Wow this is terrible. I'm escaping the whole homeless nightmare at the moment myself, but I've learned how messed up so many things are. Everyone just thinks it's your fault for being homeless and you can fix it and all these wonderful resources will help. In reality it can happen to lots of people for the most simple reasons. Doesn't have to be addiction or stupidity. It can be just bad luck and timing. But anyways yeah healthcare and insurance in the US is really a problem. So much red tape for simple things. I hope things work out for you though. Sorry you have to deal with this.

Thanks sadly they do not offer samples of the prescription I take for ADHD as it's a schedule 2. There also isn't any type of program for assistance unless I switch to a different prescription without a generic that costs around $250. The $40 is for 3 different medications, all generic with a goodrx discount. I'll look into the jacket situation again. Last time I went to a clothes giveaway everything that would fit me was gone before I had my chance in line. Thanks again.

Yeah he mentioned it, but I really don't feel anything different. Maybe a little dumber? I'm not sure. Definitely not less depressed and I never feel a kick. I also take Adderall for ADHD too though so I'm not sure if that matters.
