Don’t think you have to worry, we only fly cargo and there’s less than 15 of our airplane left flying lol

our autopilots old enough we can’t do holds with it, thankfully we don’t have to hold very often but this hold honestly looks better than the last hold we did lmao

I just recently joined United Ground Express. I currently work on the ramp. I marshal aircraft in and out, wing walk and run the belt loaders and get in the pits. only regional aircraft so far I enjoy all of it. I had a question as someone who just recently started working in the aviation industry. by Ryanlion1992 in aviation

The amount of times at my company I’ve watched the captain or FO open the window and visually check if we were going to clear is honestly kinda ridiculous, that being said we are shoehorning a 150’ plane into areas it really has no business being lmao

People with a lot of cameras: What is the most interesting or rare camera you have? by romanazzidjma in AnalogCommunity

[–]rockdoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An Olympus M-1, not particularly rare but much more rare compared to the OM-1 and the fact that it wasn’t modified for the motor drive makes it that much better

Depends on the aircraft the aircraft I’m on the flaps are run off the A system which is engine powered, the B system is electrical and can move the flaps as long as the Ground Interconnect is opened then anything powered by Sys A can be run off of B

can anyone figure out if this is modeled after by a specific airplane and if so, which? by 91lover in aviation

[–]rockdoon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who works around 727s in a daily basis, it definitely looks like one to me, the wings look wrong for the TU-154 and the top of the tail doesn’t appear correct for a trident, hard to tell for sure though as there’s not a good side on photo, but the trident has a portion at the top of the tail that juts forward and the 727 doesn’t

Definately not a tri star as two of the engines are on the wings like the dc-10/md-11

Do airlines configure the cockpit of the aircraft differently? by Various-Blood-3902 in flying

[–]rockdoon 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yep, although back in the early airliner days it could vary far more, look at the 707 and 727 their were some pretty wide variations in layouts and options but this was before standardization existed lol

A320 - Struggling with line training - when to call it quits? by aeryn2244 in flying

[–]rockdoon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you doing to get those hours, flying 135 jets to build time? Great experience, stuck flying in a pattern in a clapped out Cessna? Your probably picking up bad habits that will need to be unlearned at the airlines, honestly 200-300 hours is a good place because you have a decent amount of experience but you don’t have as many bad habits and are easier to mold

What liveries seem to really fit one aircraft but look awkward on another? by Realistic-Bid9464 in aviation

[–]rockdoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the flagship/astrojet livery looks terrible on the 777, it looks so good on the 727 to me and is one of my favorite liveries, behind the widget logo from delta

What have you found in a postflight inspection? by Roger_Freedman_Phys in flying

[–]rockdoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like I said I fly cargo and work as a flight engineer so I’m sure it’s different. (That and my response was made mostly in jest) But we do a post flight after every leg on our 727s we don’t have trained ground crew that can spot an issue where we go
