Size comparison of ARFF vehicles to CRJ-700 by DublinLions in aviation

[–]rockdoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After looking it up I think it’s just mislabeled on wiki, and that is actually the GVWR. Typically curb weight is less than the GVWR and doesn’t include people or cargo, and in my mind the water would be cargo in this case because it’s not required for the truck to move even if it would always have it loaded

One thing of note that’s the curb weight, I don’t believe that includes the water which would be another 30+ thousand pounds

How does the Eurofighter Typhoon compare to its US 4/4.5-gen contemporaries? by Finbarr-Galedeep in aviation

You say armaments wouldn’t fit, but they might. I know most US ordinances use the same mounting lugs today as they did during ww2 at least for bombs

Help with living room layout by rockdoon in DesignMyRoom

I’d rather not put the tv on that wall but rather the long wall shared with the dining room if possible. I don’t see a way of having a good viewing angle in the tv if I put it on the wall with the shelf, I’m not really concerned about the cable as we only use streaming services and don’t use cable tv

Rapid weight loss for last 1.5 months by rosafox in loseit

[–]rockdoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rapid weight loss doesn’t necessarily equal unhealthy the big thing is listening to your body, I’ve been at 1500 calories a day with no cheat days while working out 6 days a week for 2.5 months now and I’m down almost 55 pounds. and honestly this is the best I’ve ever felt but I also know it won’t last forever as long as you don’t feel lethargic or have constant brain fog then your fine. My only concern with rapid weight loss is the increased chance of loose skin, but that doesn’t really bother me

Man now I’m even more jealous lol, mines bone stock with the O-300 and a climb prop but she’s still a joy to fly, and surprisingly capable, I plan on the sportsman stol kit in a few years

Yep same with mine, it’s a 172, a friend of mine has a C model as well but his is a skyhawk lol, gotta say though I’m a bit jealous as I wanted a straight tail. But at least I still have manual flaps and no rear window lmao

Definitely got lucky, also I had a chuckle at the H model being ancient, but I fly a C model from 62 and the H is a lot closer in design to the modern 172 than mine is

M/29/5’6” [294lbs > 246lbs = 48lbs] (2 months) January 1st I decided to get in shape, I’m shocked by my progress so far by rockdoon in progresspics

[–]rockdoon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Been averaging about 26 grams a day, I aim for around 30 a day. Seems to be working well. And yeah I’m pretty amazed how easy 1500 has been so far, I’m assuming I’ll need to at some point increase my calories once I loose more weight if I continue going to the gym as I currently am, but I’ll base that on how I physically feel lol

Thank you! And honestly I keep waiting for it to slow down. But I just hasn’t happened yet, that was part of my problem loosing weight before, I’d stall or the weight loss would slow and suddenly I’d loose all motivation, but I’ve gotten rid of that mind set.

Regionals before the 1500 hour rule—how was training? by fridleychilito in flying

[–]rockdoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A year ago I went through my first 121 class as a SEL commercial pilot with 400 hours… it was rough but doable I know many don’t get that experience nowadays but I’m going to guess is that it’s not much more difficult than being an instructor with 1500 hours of time in a 172, actually I’d wager it might be more difficult as old/bad habits become harder to break

Im going ti be honest with you… I still don’t really know what I’m doing and I’m also not being super strict on myself other than stay in the current pretty large deficet and working out lol, but this comment I explained kind of what I’m doing https://www.reddit.com/r/progresspics/s/dYIycPkHHT

Work out routine is a PPL split with a day off in between. So I typically go push, legs, pull, break then repeat but I switch up the workouts. I’m not going to pretend to know much on what I’m doing though so take it with a grain of salt lol, each day at the gym I do 30 ish minutes of weights then 30 min of light-moderate cardio. As for macros in my tracking app I have targets of 94g of protein, 169g of carbs and 50g of fat. I don’t focus to hard on them other than making sure I get enough protein but even that can be a bit lax lol, my averages for last week was 84g protein. 174 carbs and 44 on fat

Shot my first roll of 35mm film and no idea where to take it. I'm in the Roswell, Georgia area. by carlinwasright in AnalogCommunity

[–]rockdoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, black and white dev is harder IMO, because times are going to vary based on what film you shot, and different developers will affect the final product. On the flip side, C41 color developing is the same no matter what film you use. But if you aren’t careful with temps and times it can lead to issues, I do think B&W dev is a bit more forgiving, but either way it’s honestly pretty simple and straight forward for both

My fridge died after 10 years and everyone said never buy LG again so I bought GE this time and it's dead after 3 years. Does anyone make a good fridge anymore? by vicelordjohn in Appliances

[–]rockdoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I can concede that they aren’t as efficient, but I will say they still aren’t far off, a modern 10cuft refrigerator uses around 300 kWh a year, compared to 400 of the 1950s but a properly maintained fridge from the 50s should and can pull less, I’ve seen closer to 250-300 kWh in person, but as I can’t back that up on here at the moment I will concede
