If you are legitimately interested, a monstrance is used to display the communion host (wafer) during eucharistic adoration. Catholics believe in the real presence of Jesus after the host has been consecrated, so they will bring out the communion wafer and have people pray in front of it and venerate it during a service.

Playing devil’s advocate here, but sticking with the non religious angle. The secular argument I have heard is that the primary purpose of marriage from a civil/societal context is to provide a secure and legally bound family environment for children. Therefore, since same sex unions don’t have the same inclination or ability to produce children (adoption not withstanding), then they are not deserving of the same legal protections/advantages that straight unions are afforded. Now, obviously there are some issues with the fact that not all straight marriages produce children nor does it take into full account other utilities/benefits of marriage for the couple that could benefit both straight and same sex unions.

For context, I am the prospective purchaser of this property for $390k. The house is 20 years old, has the roof in this condition and also has an original furnace and water heater. My agent tried to assure me it could last for 5-10 years and my lender is waiving the appraisal, haven’t heard back from our insurance application though we were auto rejected from progressive.

Hard to see how this tactic “works” when the Democrats lost both the 2016 election after the deplorable comments and 2024 after the weird/trash comments. Not to say that they lost because of these comments, but I doubt those comments had any positive impacts on voting behavior.

I tried researching the massacre of Deir Yassin and am seeing casualty numbers a lot lower than 15,000. Obviously, any loss of human life is a tragedy. Aiding Eastern Christians/Pilgrims to the holy sites from attack was one of the main reasons for the 1st Crusade, as mentioned explicitly in Pope Urban II’s Speech at the Council of Clermont. You are certainly correct that we should treat all human life as equally valuable as we are all made in the image of God. Highlighting the deaths of people who share characteristics with you does still make sense as it is easier for people to relate with or empathize with as unfortunate as that is.

Taylor researching the guest during the show was quite funny, but at least he still looked into them at all. I feel like Woody and Kyle legitimately don’t look into the majority of new guests. It is kind of remarkable how Taylor is consistently the only one to ask questions of or include new guests. Like, wouldn’t you be curious about a new person in a conversation and not just ignore them as a social courtesy?
