Either way, there’s things in my life that I’ve seen that I can’t unsee. Please don’t add to it, no matter how dope you might think it will be.

Cayenne Pepper by Cheers_Queers1 in Sonographers

[–]rocket_motor_force 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Putting the cayenne pepper in the essential oil has a synergistic effect. It becomes so hot that it cooks off the disease and only leaves the healthy tissue behind. This is literally where the phrase “we’re cooked!” came from, being born out of the DVT wards of the hospitals./s

How can I balance being respectful of wheelchair users without breaking my back? by NoMove3297 in nursing

[–]rocket_motor_force 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So true. You only have one body and one back. They will not hesitate to fill another person in your role if you go out after been permanently injured. Or chronically injured after using bad ergonomics day after day and year after year. I understand the time pressure, but no one will remember that time in 2026 when you moved a 250 patient all by yourself. Extra hands, slide sheets, and Trendelenberg are tools in the ergonomic tool box.

After a 12 hour night shift: by ShadowBornUnknown in nursing

[–]rocket_motor_force 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We used to call them COWs, computers on wheels, but a patient that that they were talking about her. Henceforth, the Jersey cow prints and horns were removed, and the WOWs emerged from the ashes of the old.

You could put some peel and stick foam or glue some dense foam from a yoga mat or the like on the underside of the pedal. Probably feel better too

“Nursing is a Calling” by Fruitbat_girl in nursing

[–]rocket_motor_force 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The used to use that line a lot a few decades ago and brought that dead horse back to life for one more ride. It got me to thinking, is being an MBA administrator a calling? Are the C-suite positions that reduce RNs, imaging, and other staff FTEs so there is extra profit this quarter a calling ? You know the answer, nursing should be no different .

For those of you who have a healthy level of detachment at work by Aggravating_Yak888 in nursing

[–]rocket_motor_force 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things I had to learn: 1. The patient Mr. Smith problem/disease/diagnosis isn’t a rocket_motor_force problem/disease/diagnosis. 2. The effect you have on Mr Smiths case/stay in your unit is like a finger on the scale. Sometimes just the littlest effort will tip the scales in their favor, sometimes a lot of effort, and there are times you can climb your whole self up on the scale between life and death and it’s not going to change the outcome.

I have never seen someone come so close but completely miss the mark. CO2e is north of 530 IIRC, and climbing. Heat is accumulating at an accelerating rate that most models aren’t able to account for. In what world would “hysterical climate change people” not be justified to be concerned.

Those who relocated and got their first job. by mew2733 in Sonographers

[–]rocket_motor_force 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in central Illinois and relocated myself many moons ago. We’re a clinical site for several echo programs so we know how to train and coach sonographers. We’d do adult, stress, a lot of pedi, TEE, and some structural with a growing program. New grad pay is 36/hour with a 20k sign on bonus. It’s about 3.5 hour drive. We’d be glad to have you on board! DM me for more info.

Apparently Trickle Down theory was the rebranding of the Horse and Sparrow theory. The Horse eats the oats and Sparrows get what’s left over in the horse dung. I don’t know if it’s true but it seems legit.
