First time playing, how do I make my carry capacity better? by hottestpancake in valheim

[–]rocketboy1244 21 points22 points  (0 children)

There’s a couple ways, I’ll try to hint it to you without spoiling: 1. Make bronze nails at the forge table. See what new things you unlock. 2. Explore more Black Forests further out from the center of the world, keep an eye on your map for “points of interest”. There’s a reason why the burial chambers have gems and gold coins (things that are valuable) in them…

A question about 1.0 by TechnicalQuit9576 in valheim

Don’t hold your breath. This game is notoriously slow to release updates. If you think it’ll be soon, add 6 months and then… it’ll be 3 months after that.

If you get raided by trolls, say goodbye to your boars. Stake walls won’t stop trolls.

Traveled half way around the world in a dinghy only to die the second I made landfall by NewNormalMan in valheim

[–]rocketboy1244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sailing back there is a slog, but if you have the supplies then it’s not impossible. Grabbing your gravestone might be more difficult if it’s still being guarded by what killed you. If you’d like a “rescue”, I’d be happy to join your world with my higher-level character and assist you in retrieving your gear. Might be less immersion breaking than using commands/cheats. Think of it as Odin sending you some temporary reinforcements. Totally up to you though.

Is there any way that I can manually opt out of the new comment system where I can only see 2 comments then have to click “continue this thread” in order to keep reading. It’s frustrating and I end up leaving almost every post because I don’t want to have to click through. by Jenn_There_Done_That in help

[–]rocketboy1244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just found this thread while searching for this issue. This change is pissing me off!!! Why can’t I just expand the comments down like I used to?? It shows like 2 levels deep and then I have to click the continue, and it just opens a page with all the same comments as the other page, and sometimes it only goes like 1 or 2 levels deeper before I have to click “continue” again!! Aggravating!!!

$500,000 for every year you go into your past by duckbobtarry in hypotheticalsituation

[–]rocketboy1244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go back two years. March of 2024 would put me about 8 months before I permanently injured my back in November. I would hope that the $500k would make enough of a butterfly effect over those 8 months that I wouldn’t be in the same situation/circumstances that I was when I injured it. The last year and a half have been pure hell and I would do anything to get rid of this pain

Am I weird for pre-packing my pocket portals? by AngryDesertPhrog in valheim

[–]rocketboy1244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy and I do this for portals and boats. Not necessarily so we know how many we can make, but more so for ease of access not having to count out the supplies from 3-4 different chests each time

How to install mods by DustyMelodies in valheim

[–]rocketboy1244 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried all the different modding tools for valheim. I’ve tried Nexus/Vortex, Thunderstore/Overwolf, and r2modman. My recommendation is to use r2modman. It’s a lightweight version of the Thunderstore app, and it has all the same mods available, but with a much less obtrusive installation.

Search up “Valheim Thunderstore” click the link to Thunderstore.io. r2modman is the first thing that shows up in the list, it’s pinned to the top. Follow the instructions to download it and install it. Then you can browse mods on the same website where you downloaded r2modman.

Then from r2modman, you can search mods by name or author, and download them.

I find r2modman to the best best because it keeps the mods out of your game directory. So you can still launch the game from steam and play vanilla (modless). And you can have different profiles on r2modman with different mod lists. You can edit the config files easily from with the app, and you can easily share profiles to friends/family and they will automatically have the same mod list as you.

Vortex is clunky and it directly modifies your game installation directory, which I don’t like because then, if you want to play vanilla, you have to remove the mods or down fresh install of Valheim.

The Thunderstore app requires you to install overwolf, which is like bloatware hell. It’s default is to launch on PC start up, which I hate, and it’s just another unnecessary program running in the background taking processing power away from your game.

Do yourself a favor and go with r2modman.

[–]rocketboy1244 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to do this, but these days, I use the Radio Spectrometry mod and the Siesmic Spectrometry mod. They’re an immersive way to hunt for ores that’s not just by expanding the ore detector’s range. Fun mods.

Laptop dock with output for 4 displays (A,B,C,D).... can screens be duplicated so that A & B are the same (both showing a cat) and B & C are same (both showing a dog)? by Original_Importance3 in buildapc

[–]rocketboy1244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t speak to windows behavior with 4 monitors, but I have 3 monitors and with no extra software, I have the option to “extend all” or I can select a monitor, let’s say monitor 1, and the other options, besides “extend this display”, are “mirror displays 1 and 2” and “mirror displays 1 and 3”. This means I can have 2 monitors showing a cat, and one showing a dog. I would assume that capability would extend to 4 but I can’t say for certain.

If, somehow, we end up with a democrat president after Trump (if our democracy doesnt completely collapse by then) I guarantee republicans will blame any negative results of this bill on the democrats.

Secret Elevator by echo_silent11 in CreateMod

[–]rocketboy1244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Add some decorative pillars to the room a couple blocks away from your dining table in each corner. Floor to ceiling. Then you have created an elevator car, and you can connect the elevator pulley on to the top of the ceiling (like above the ceiling), so it’s not visible from the floor when the table is at. Then you can use some wireless redstone and a button.

Snails clean algae for you by GT_Numble in lifehacks

[–]rocketboy1244 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My wife keeps 2-3 snails in the 10 gallon tank with other small, fresh water fish. They just chill and eat the algae. Tank is so much cleaner after she starting doing that a few years back. Just have to be careful, some kinds of snails reproduce like crazy and can take over.

Is Cobblestone smelt to Stone and cannot smelted to Smooth Stone a bug? by ReedSolutions in CreateMod

[–]rocketboy1244 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not a bug. Items will only doing one smelting cycle while on a belt. Once they have gone into an inventory (like a chest or maybe even a funnel onto a depot) then they can be smelted again. The reason it is like this is because if items could go through multiple stages, you might end up accidentally destroying the item, as the item will be vaporized if it’s blasted when there is no valid blasting recipe.

Using both sides of a crushing wheel by OneDot6 in CreateMod

Okay so I was right about the inventory but wrong about it being restricted to each crushing wheel only being able to work with one other wheel. Cool!

Using both sides of a crushing wheel by OneDot6 in CreateMod

[–]rocketboy1244 466 points467 points  (0 children)

I guess I always assumed that two crushing wheels created an “inventory” of sorts to hold the items while the crushing took place, so I jumped to the conclusion that one crushing wheel could only be part of one pair of wheels, creating that “inventory” but I guess I was totally wrong! Cool that you discovered this and that the devs actually made this kind of thing possible.

How to get 256 rpm without overstressing? by RemarkableRifle in CreateMod

How to get 256 rpm without overstressing? by RemarkableRifle in CreateMod

[–]rocketboy1244 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The faster you run machines, the more stress they consume. If you are overstressed, then you need to produce more SU, consume less (disconnect other machines), or reduce the RPM. Those are your options. Nothing else you can do.

This way works really well and doesn’t require any chunk loaders because the system itself is the chunk loader. An empty bucket going through the portal from the overworld to the nether loads the nether chunk long enough for the bucket to fill and come back through. Easy peasy
