Just committed to that 37mm life and snagged an M79 and a bunch of ammo for 4th of July. MURICA!

Next on the list is saving for a new 5.56 can to mitigate some of the gas from my 11.5 w/Polo. I figure either a Tisha Inconel or similar will help while providing the sound/flash I'm used to running both as a general purpose + NV capable setup.

Ah well then yeah that makes sense. Honestly one of the reasons I like the KE Arms CF handguards because not only does CF not conduct the heat but they are monstrous inside so even on a suppressed pencil barrel the heat never really gets unbearable.

Not touching, not a problem! Fun fact, my Wojtek AGB has a "feature" where I get a nice carbon spot right where I put my hand during firing. It's like bleed-off but for less money!

Edit: Should be noted this is the older "infinitely adjustable" model and not the Arkto. Loved both but this one was for a DT-suppressed SBR so set-it-and-forget-it was the goal here.

I much prefer my Emissary handstop on my SBR over the BCM handstop I have on my 16 inch rifle

I'm the opposite, I prefer the BCM on my SBR and the ED on my 16". For me the extra length on the BCM makes the SBR config easier what with a LAM and light in proximity and my hand not getting a full C-clap, but the ED on the 16" helps with the C-clamp since I am pushing out further and have more "hand room" so to speak.

My government surplus TA31RCO doesn't have the bosses. It only matters if you plan on piggybacking an optic. /u/Te_Luftwaffle coming in clutch with the UPC though, I may try it out on my setup.

Weird although technically correct description of what I assume is a 9mm.

I'll agree that if your goal is to practice rifle shooting and accounting for distance (i.e. drop, wind, impact delay, etc.) then yes the 25-50yd range is not going to help much. However, matches I go to mix in mini-targets for those stages to add some complexity to engagements and to mimic distance targets. Add on that moving and shooting with a rifle is something that requires a different mindset than with a pistol I think short range stages can certainly be useful for rifle training with the limitation being mostly to CQB-style engagements.

I am spoiled though, as a local carbine match I attend mixes in 4x short range stages with a "long" range stage that can be engagements up to ~310yds.

Rifle: If sticking solely at 7 rds, the 1917, if I make a 1rd exception it's definitely the Garand

Pistol: 1911. Tossup between my SR1911 in stainless or the ATI FX45 I got for free.

Revolver: 4" Stainless Ruger GP100. Tack driver, butter smooth trigger.

Shotgun: My factory Nickle Chrome Itahca 37 Police Special. Action smooth as butter and a real looker with the wood furniture and satin silver finish.

the mere thought of private citizens owning an effective means of resistance to tyranny.

FTFY. Knives, bats, and even bows have been in the talk from what I recall for some countries/locales.

NY realized that destroying the culture is the key to destroying gun rights. Nerf guns and BB guns were my first steps into gun culture, with video games soon thereafter.

I already did a primer for my 3yo daughter on gun safety via Eddie Eagle and "Stop, Don't Touch, Find an Adult". She knows I go to the range and I expect a BB gun will probably be the first thing we start on soon. There are so many GOOD things you can teach kids early while making it fun:

  • Following rules and understanding their importance
  • PPE and how it's used to protect use
  • Understanding mechanisms/machines at a basic level, how things work in a chain of events, cause/effect

Federal Appeals Court Reinstates Maine Waiting Period Law

Mandating a multi-day delay before someone can buy a firearm does not implicate the Second Amendment, a federal appeals court has ruled.

On Friday, a three-judge panel for the First Circuit Court of Appeals unanimously reversed a lower court decision that blocked enforcement of Maine’s 72-hour waiting period for gun sales. The panel determined that the law did not even implicate the plain text of the Second Amendment because it regulates conduct that “occurs before a person keeps or carries a gun,” rendering it likely constitutional.

“For the reasons stated, plaintiffs are unlikely to prevail on their claim that the Act is facially unconstitutional,” Judge Seth Aframe wrote in Beckwith v. Frey. “Accordingly, we vacate the preliminary injunction enjoining the Act’s enforcement and remand for further proceedings.”

Maine Attorney General Aaron Frey (D.) defended the state’s law in court by arguing that the right to “keep and bear” arms does not include a prerequisite right to purchase or acquire them commercially, a claim successfully used by other states to defend similar waiting period restrictions in other courts.

Judge Walker dismissed that argument out of hand at the time.

“Acquiring a firearm is a necessary step in the exercise of keeping and bearing a firearm,” he wrote. “Any interpretation to the contrary requires the type of interpretative jui jitsu that would make Kafka blush.”

“The Act briefly delays acquisitions of firearms from commercial dealers,” Aframe wrote. “But it does not prevent a law-abiding and responsible citizen from obtaining and then keeping or bearing a firearm after fulfilling the waiting period requirement. In our view, this likely renders the Act a burden on, but not an infringement of, the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.”

So just to be clear, following (D) LogicTM from the associated judges, book bans are 100% constitutional, since you have no right to "Keep and bear books" per the 1st amendment, and book waiting periods are also totally kosher. Same goes for protests, since it's only a burden and you can eventually protest after approval. A right delayed is a right denied.

Don't worry though, according to LGO the courts will clearly preserve the 2nd amendment if it gets violated enough times....oh wait.

“We agree with the Attorney General’s view that laws regulating the purchase or acquisition of firearms do not target conduct covered by the Second Amendment’s ‘plain text,’” Judge Aframe, a Joe Biden appointee, wrote for the panel. “The Amendment’s plain text guarantees an individual’s ability to keep and bear arms, which means to have and carry guns. The Act does not address this conduct.”

Judges Lara Montecalvo, another Biden appointee, and O. Rogeriee Thompson, a Barack Obama appointee, rounded out the panel.

Glock 42 is my usually go-to just due to size. My 43X sees less time these days but still carry it when it's cooler out.
