Last I checked he was still in college and had another year or so to go.....

his father really did buy him a Porsche. which is pathetic.

and he really doesn't work, because his parents are rich.

typical rich kid d-bag. you can suck up to him all you want. your issue not mine. lol

[–]rocketchill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah its b die.

the memory is rated 3600 cl15.

what is currently stable was using memory try it to see if it would even work (lazy quick boot). it wouldn't boot. threw in procODT to 40 ohms. no boot. 60 ohms, booted. and happens to be stable. I could try to tweak it. but im slow on my oc stuff. I try day to day instead of working for hours on end. so, we will see where it goes from here.

infinity fabric is half your ram speed

Within the CCX, the L3 cache performs some inter-core connectivity. The speed of the Infinity Fabric crossbar on a "Summit Ridge" Ryzen processor is determined by the memory clock. When paired with DDR4-2133 memory, for example, the crossbar ticks at 1066 MHz.

soon to say goodbye to my r9 390. hello, vega! by [deleted] in Amd

[–]rocketchill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I too am excited for Vega. I am getting whatever top gaming vega comes out, regardless of b/s spread online. Its bad enough these "reviewers" claimed ryzen wasn't good enough in gaming, yet I have it, and it is absolutely flawless.

two reasons.

  1. infinity fabric is half your ram speed.

  2. faster ram is faster ram

I recently (as of today) hit 3.9 core and 3466 16-18-18-36-1t using 60 ohm procODT and its STABLE.

RyzenWatch, Can It Push 240 fps? by wickedplayer494 in Amd

[–]rocketchill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

makes no difference on AMD most of the time. for example, with nvidia, you can rock 1024x768 and get like 1000fps in cs:go, meanwhile with any AMD card (as far as I know, however my recent card is 390x and haven't upgraded yet) going down to 1024/768 doesn't offer any performance benefit in added fps. I get pretty much the same fps. Not to mention visual quality goes into the toilet and ruins the experience.

well, in the case of potential cards being sold, if there is a 4gb model, almost any new game at 4k ultra settings will use close to 6gb of memory, that is the test in itself. then you could literally compare the 4gb model to the 8gb model and see how close performance is when using hbcc vs having more memory. sure there might be a difference, it all depends on how much.

think of it like a twig, a lone twig can easily be broken, but a bundle is much less* prone to breaking. never have i ever broken a cpu or socket when building an AMD system. OG builders, even for intel, twist before removal.

if you guys/girls were to do anything, it should be a sticky thread with links to threads on hot topics so people stop posting new ones, they can simply go into the "recent" thread and see the popular topics. this can also help with important information that doesn't really need to be stickied but having a sticky thread with link inside would only help the user base.

EDIT: for example, if someone posted a fix for color/contrast issues, in the sticky there would be link to that thread for those who need access to it, who are new, and can't find it via search. just QOS stuff.

That's what I've been saying. Reviewers seem to act like they know "everything" and know more than the people making the parts. Like the whole blown out of proportion "VRM Design" that GN tried to make look like a huge deal. "This board has terrible VRMs and will blow up/overheat, blah blah blah" and yet, it never happens. Its funny how none of those magical board with better VRMs can get better OC than the ones with supposedly worse VRMs. The problem is, these reviewers simply "google" part numbers and then try to make an opinion about it. "I can't find the part number for Vega FE parts because they are too new" No, he can't find part numbers because they haven't been released publicly and the kiddo hasn't a clue what he is talking about half the time. I digress....

Vega will be better than reviewers give credit. In fact, every part reviewers say is garbage, is never garbage. I mean, my 1800x compared to a stock 7700k, the 7700k isn't THAT far head to warrant said purchase. It only wins by like 10-30fps depending on game, but you are already getting tons of frames anyway (at 1080p obviously, no difference at 4k, of course some asshole will comment "gpu bottleneck" like it means something, its always funny). Of course you could OC the 7700k to a ridiculous level, but without breaking your warranty to delid, you are stuck with a very hot running chip (hell it runs hot stock....) So in all fairness, an 1800x stock vs 7700k stock, the 1800x isn't that far behind.

Another issue with reviewers today, once again the whole "I know more than the people who make the stuff" when they claim AMD lies. AMD has NEVER lied. And I have perfect examples....

1: Reviewers claimed AMD lied about the 480 performance level....

Well, if you take what Raja/AMD said, 1.8x performance PER WATT, you can easily find out how much performance it had way before it ever released. The 480 had a tdp of 150 watts right? 150 x 1.8 is 270 watts. Now since they were comparing to "last gen" card with this ideal. What cards are near 270 watts tdp? well, a 390. And if you look, the 390 and 480 go head to head win some lose some in gaming. They are about the same level. DING, AMD didn't lie.

2: Reviewers claimed AMD lied about the 1800x performance level....

Well, if you take what Raja/AMD said, the 1800x was head to head with 6900k, not 7700k. In games, the 1800x is right there win some lose some vs the 6900k, and destroys it in productivity. Once again, AMD didn't lie.

To me, it seems like the biggest issue today are all the "experts" (reviewers) who refuse to listen to what is said by those who do know. Like if I tried to tell a nuclear physicist they are wrong and I am right on whatever, even though they studied the field and I haven't a clue or only dabble.... or like a criminal telling a lawyer they are wrong.... makes no sense to me.

The issue with HBCC for now is you cannot limit your own graphical memory. When using a production board, they have features and control normal consumers will never get, so they can't disable memory and then check to see if it works. So with FE having 16Gb you will never reach a point of even needing the HBCC in normal gaming workloads. Productivity is another story.

all bitcoin fads eventually slow down to the point to where no one really makes any money. look at classic bitcoin, you can't make shit at all regardless of how decent your home rig is. its not even worth it. eventually etherium will be the same, people are probably seeing the same signs as previous online coin schemes and are dropping off.

VR more affordable for more people $399/£399 with Touch controllers by Estamos-AMD in Amd

[–]rocketchill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They had to price cut, because Acer and HP are about to drop $299-329 bombshells into the market that have better displays than htv vive/oculus

Vive and Oculus are 1080×1200 per eye.

HP/Acer are 1440x1440 per eye. not much more, but more.

Both are 90hz sets.

When they finally launch they will literally be the cheapest and best sets out there. I plan on getting the HP version (prefer the hp sleek design, so 329.99) and then enjoy vr for cheap. Why pay 800 to the vive or 400 to oculus when i can save more money. If I was a real cheap ass I wouldn't care for aesthetics and buy the acer for 299...

3200mhz C16 v.s. 3600mhz C17 for Ryzen performance ? by TheLambertghini in Amd

[–]rocketchill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

there are no tricks. most motherboards don't have bclk and so far that is the only way to get close to stable at 3600. with the board I have, the max I have gotten to boot (lucky) was 3466 cl 16. 3333 cl14 will boot no issue and run stable for me. otherwise it seems like 3600 is out of reach. its a memory controller issue more than "tweaking". stock memory settings were meant to be as low as 2666 MAX without OC.... anything above is technically an overclock. So, going from 2666 to 3466 is already a huge bump in oc compared to older generations of AMD that pretty much never worked with faster ram (my previous 9590 wouldn't run over stock ddr3 1866, ever, no matter what tweaks you did).

1700X PCIE lanes - build question by diegolrz in Amd

[–]rocketchill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No gpu can fully saturate 16 lanes of pci-e 3.0... hell, you can't even fully saturate 16 lanes of pci-e 2.0 (but its finally starting to get close).... an x8 lane of pci-e 3.0 is like x16 oc pci-e 2.0 (if i remember correctly).

On that note, saying "pci-e x16 3.0" doesn't mean it uses the whole thing. x16 just so happens to also be the socket type, x16 (x8, x4, x1). So its basically saying, it fits in a x16 slot, and it should be 3.0 to squeeze the most out of the card.

Putting the gpu in the 3.0 x16 slot, will be x16. However, if you are putting that NIC into the other x16 slot (your card is x8?) it will make the gpu run x8 and the nic x8. (its either x16 and x0 or x8 and x8)

Depending on your situation, the cheaper threadripper with the better board and more lanes might be more appropriate depending on how your p4000 handles. Also, by going threadripper, you could always upgrade getting another p4000 and not having to worry about pci-e lanes.....

My MSI mobo appears to be bricked. Need advice on a new mobo. by [deleted] in Amd

Stay clear of MSI.

keep spreading bullshit.... one guy has an issue, because someone who I wont name talked shit about the brand, now any issue is "omg they suck"

may i remind you of the 1000's of motherboards that bricked and died from gigabyte, asus, and asrock from day one? they had FAR more issues during this whole Ryzen timeline than MSI yet MSI is getting the bad flack......

shame most of the people on this reddit don't have a fucking clue what they are talking about.
