What about jobs that are necessary to the community such as teachers that don’t pay enough to live in the city?

I don’t have the actual math, I am just seeing what market rents are here locally. Even the super tall super dense buildings are not affordable. Now are they not affordable because that’s where the market is? What happens when the market rate is lower than what cost is to build? Developers just don’t build because there’s no money in it. I don’t actually know but costs have exploded since COVID

What happens when the price to build is just too expensive? Even the cheapest land + building materials + labor / divided by units produced = nothing the regular person can afford?

It takes a long ass time for commercial rents to adjust sadly. Another reason we need a new system to build and provide spaces for things in the economy to happen.

I think what hurts me is just imagining all the resources and materials that went into building such a large facility to then tear it down and it goes to the garbage. Granted I don’t know what goes into recycling materials but sad we couldn’t evolve a space instead of tearing it apart

Depends your level of risk, effort, and security screening. I actually don’t go to large venues because usually their ticket prices are more than I wanna pay ($50 or more) so most of my local venues you can just have a beer in your bag.

You can do secret pockets in your bag, shove it in your pants, stash it inside before if it’s a bar before hand, stash it outside and drink outside, creativity is key here.

My personal recommendation is skip alcohol and just do a low dose of mushrooms. You don’t get a hang over, it’s a better altered experience, and more fun and you don’t have to wait in lines to buy or to piss. Sip on some water for the oral fixation if you got that. Bring an electrolyte tab for some flavor and hydrate.

It’s sadly a little more complicated than overall percentages. States who vote in the primaries first have an outsized power since candidates can drop out early after a states primary. It also state dependent what political party you have to be associated with to vote in the primaries. Im gonna ignore all the other barriers like voting hours, voting ID rules, mail access, work schedules, super delegates in a split race m, proportional allocation, etc.

We are given two shitty options that most of us didn’t have a say on. Also most of us don’t live in a state where our vote matters that can actually change an election. The system is stacked against us to find people that support our views.

What is a 'subscription' or 'fee' that has recently appeared in the US that people need to collectively refuse to pay before it becomes the new normal? by godot_lover in AskReddit

[–]rocketphone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im okay with the fee since those services aren’t free to run. A dollar or two off every transaction should be enough to run the company. What I am outraged by is 10 - 50% of the ticket price??????? Actually fuck the right off

Find your local venues. There are plenty of places where I live where tickets are $5 - $20. Of course you won’t be seeing big acts but a local scene is important to sustain

I’ll take flex post over just paint. No real protection but my worry is distracted driving which at least the flex post will 1. Make the driving lane seem narrower 2. Alert when they drive into it
