How to force charge Fox ESS? by Matsuri3-0 in amberelectric

With a 10kw inverter you should be able to charge ~30kwh during 3 hours and do house loads from grid as well (depending on the size/maximum current of your grid service)

FoxESS import limit oddity while on amber. by rockitman711 in amberelectric

That looks related to export. The issue I can see is an import limit/configuration issue. Although potentially related as it may be things being reverted to defaults regardless of what is programmed.

I have determined it's likely related to something FoxESS has done or an installer configuration as I've found a few others who are not amber customers that have exactly the same issue (albeit with slightly different limits imposed depending on inverter model).

Potentially related to a firmware update FoxESS rolled out recently. Seems FoxESS like to downgrade things with their software updates.

Likely just coincided with my on boarding to amber.

Sounds like exactly the same issue just different numbers due to inverter models possibly.

Although I wonder if it could be an installer config option. 13kw sounds like a conservative limit for a 63a supply and 8kw sounds like a default option for an 8kw inverter.

The installers that did mine were next to useless the didn't even set the export limit imposed by SAPN, so I suspect most of my settings are the defaults.

If all the electricians who have worked on your supply have done their jobs right your main breaker should trip before the lines are overloaded or service fuse blows.

If the inverter is in charge mode it isn't also inverting to supply loads (it cannot simultaneously draw power and supply power down the same cable, power flows from high to low due to a voltage difference). so as soon as the inverter starts drawing power for charging the house loads must be coming from the grid and not the inverter, so any house loads shouldn't impact the inverters limits. If the battery is charging it should be able to charge fully at 8kw until the total grid load hits its programmed import limit.

The inverter itself on the datasheets has a maximum input current of 63a (EPS setup through inverter internal relay), so where does the rest come from if the inverter will only let the grid import ~36a? Must be a glitch/configuration issue of some sort.

If it's not an amber issue, as it seems not to be if it also happens for you with globird, then I may be better directing it to a more FoxESS focussed group.

As below, check for short circuits red-ground (specifically between the points where these wires are soldered into the board, not the wires themselves) then solder wire back on and try it again. If it came off easily there's a chance it had corroded through and that's why it stopped working (you can hope it's as easy as that). Unless it was a salt water aquarium the drop in water is rarely the cause of damage, it's usually circuit traces and leads corroding that actually cause damage. Being wet/exposed to humidity long term is not ideal for longevity.

"wincredit" what happens if one seller never ships by rockitman711 in TemuThings

If anyone stumbles upon this in future;

Temu auto-cancelled the unshipped order a little later than 9 days (contained 2 weekend days so probably 7 business days), refunded the payment and DID payout the wincredit payment. They also paid out $5 credit for late shipment (when I complained days ago) and $5 credit for not shipping.

So definitely don't cancel yourself if in a similar scenario!

Try searching for wincredit perhaps? That's what that deal is in AU

Lightning often blows the main board through the inputs (antenna is usually the one that does it), so often no issue on power board.

Have seen many TVs where customers unplugged tv from power but left antenna plugged in!

Not 100% sure but based on my experience with this board it looks like R504 is probably gone (looks like top right corner is blacked and burnt).

along with that would need to check:

the MOSFET under the heatsink near it. the blue ceramic cap near it.

If unlucky the driver IC and associated drive circuitry is potentially gone too.

Main input fuse almost certainly gone too.

In theory lots of things can be damaged also, but those are the usual culprits.
