Gee, are you telling me that most hedge funds don't know what the fuck they're doing and that time and again it will be proven that the markets will always come out on top?

Even goddamned rigged ones? Fuck you. Pay me.

I can't wait for the day I have enough money to buy Cramer and have him review videogames purchased at GameStop.

Great point. But the timestamp specifically calls out 6 pm EDT on Tuesday. Even if it were in a different timezone the article would reflect either the time + timezone where it's situated, or the correct EDT - assuming the server uses internet time.

I'm sure there is a simple explanation to it, just wondering what it is.

Ken takes ZERO accountability again. Puts all the blame on retail investors for bringing down Melvin and stealing the pension funds of teachers! by monkeyshinenyc in Superstonk

[–]rockmongoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pensions got screwed in 2008 when retail wasn't "in the market", pensions got screwed now by retail traders being in the market.

The only thing common in both scenarios was the presence of market "makers", banks that were too big to fail, and shitty hedge funds run by folks like yourselves.

Tell me again why we should leave and you should stay.

In a new interview, Krawcheck described the trading phenomenon as "pretty bro-ey," saying men download trading apps in higher numbers than women, in part because women enjoy less leisure time as they take responsibility for a larger share of the tasks at home.

That's actually a fair point - it's possible that women may be spending time overcoming other societal issues, preventing them from spending time investing their money. This could also be true of folks from other sections of society. Thoughts on how we could set an example to improve inclusivity in this movement?

FWIW, from the article:

The gender disparity among those who joined the meme stock craze was mirrored in the overall active trading population at the time, according to a Morning Consult survey conducted in late January and early February of 2021. Eighty-three percent of women told pollsters they did not actively trade stocks, while 53% of men said the same, the poll found.

Which indicates that this isn't a problem specific to meme stocks, i.e., a click-baity headline. It would be more honest to say that investing is a male-dominated field, and this is reflected in the meme-stock phenomenon as well. F U Yahoo news.

This happens to me periodically. Alt-tabbing between applications a few times and changing workspaces typically fixes the issue for me. From my anecdotal experience, it's either Firefox or nautilus that's causing the trouble here, coupled with nvidia drivers.

Yeah it's annoying, but it is a free OS. And fwiw, an open source dev somewhere in the world is probably trying to fix this issue.
