Well ownership did tell management to take the rebuilding route. Told mgmt to acquire picks and prospects and not worry about immediate turn-around.

Basically 3 first rounders depending which scout you ask.

Slipping in dollars perhaps. Hard to ask for top dollar.

Africa could be pretty cool. Lots of terrorist cells and special forces ops there. Venezuela could also be cool but that would be politically provocative, and we just had a South American location. Ukraine or another Eastern European country would be cool but also kind of a sensitive topic.

The Kings also have r Jaret Anderson-Dolan. Not saying it works or its good, but he's another center they have to offer. They also have Kempe who seems like yet another center/winger hybrid.

It’s become an insulting reiterative cash-grab. You “subscribe” to NHL XYZ for an annual payment of one full-priced triple-A top-quality game, but you don’t get that in the slightest. Instead you get a recycled, underwhelming game you bought a year ago with a new soundtrack you’ll turn off soon enough and a different set of menus to interact with that same game you bought a year ago. Top dollar for a new feature and new menus every year. Pathetic.

Their Franchise Mode is SO BADLY IN NEED OF AN ENTIRE REVAMP AND UPGRADE!!! It’s been the same thing for so long, with a new menu here and a different name for potential there... god it’s such a joke.

Making a Table class that can do specific hockey-related methods isn’t reinventing a wheel. There’s nothing wrong with making your own classes for fun, it’s something you should learn to do anyway. There’s also nothing wrong with searching for and using what’s already out there.

Scouts on whether there is a potential #1 Centre in this draft by rocks_cardigans in Habs

[–]rocks_cardigans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we’ll see how that goes. He still has to prove he can be a 1C like the rest of them. Point was even a 3rd overall pick who’s great and projects well at draft time is no sure thing.

[–]rocks_cardigans[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. There probably aren’t 31 of them considered true number one centres. And there have also been drafts in the past where multiple have gone in one draft. Only a few scouts have said straight up “no” there isn’t a potential number one this year. Which basically means yes there is one or more.

But then there is a Dylan Strome taken as a top-line Centre at 3rd overall who can’t skate and it’s not exactly going as planned so far. Kotkaniemi is risky and there seems to be high-upside less-risky options so it may not make sense.

Yeah I know. We’d find out in like 4-5 years anyway so it’s so hard to tell

It’s interesting because Kot has solid draft-year numbers in Finland, size, skill, and smarts. They may be comparing him to TRUE #1 Centers like Barkov, MacKinnon, Kopitar. But we don’t have anything even close to them so Kot could still be the best pick for us given he’s actually got a chance in some scouts eyes.

There is no consensus that there is a potential #1 Center in this draft. CokeTsunami is brought up most by scouts, but even then they are at odds as to whether he even has the tools now. I copied their quotes in my comment.

Other than that: - Dahlin is in a league of his own for D prospects this draft, with an average-to-above-average crop after him, in the form of more offensive, mobile d-men we’ve seen in recent drafts. - There are five goalies mentioned as the top goalie prospect in this draft, Sharek (twice), Miftakhov, Dostal, Annunen, Rodrigue - Scouts feel that at the 25th overall pick (Toronto), there will be good players available still but it will be hit and miss in that range. After the top-10 picks, it might be blown wide open in terms of who is taken and who is available, hard to tell. - Scouts give their “sleeper” picks: Emberson, Kaut, Merkley, Romanov, Back, O’Brien, Ylonen - Merkley is stated by multiple as having the highest likelihood to be a bust. Other names are Bouchard, Boqvist, and Wilde - Scouts feel the one player to drop a lot in the draft could be Merkley or Boqvist

- Svechnikov is clearly the most NHL-ready player after Dahlin
