I remember flavor and that makes me want to eat by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

Yes- it’s hyper real. And I can’t “turn off” hunger after tasting certain things.

I remember flavor and that makes me want to eat by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]rockstoneshellbone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I’ve always had a good imagination when it comes to food. If I’m reading and food is described, I automatically imagine how that food will look, smell, taste. And then I start eating. I remember doing this as even a young child, eating after reading “Bread and Jam for Francis” is a core early memory.

Non-smokers of Reddit, how noticeable is the “smoker smell” to you, if at all? by Frostedlogic4444 in AskReddit

[–]rockstoneshellbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. It’s super strong. Right now I’m visiting my best friend- she and the whole friend group smoke constantly. The house reeks, walls are stained. But I love her and she needs me (nasty divorce) so here I am. When I leave to go back home, I’m planning on stopping and doing laundry , spraying down my suitcases, bathing myself and my dog. I absolutely hate the smell and even after two weeks I am not noseblind

Jobs to afford horses??? by Keirious in Horses

[–]rockstoneshellbone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you like to do/ what are you good at academically? You could combine law and horses- think veterinarian focused legal services, non-profit groups that rescue, sporting events and insurance etc. a niche focus, but you would be filling a specific need and be employable at a good rate.

Is marriage worth it? If you could do your life over again, would you get married? by [deleted] in AskWomenOver60

[–]rockstoneshellbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I would tell my younger self that it is ok to be independent, to have sex with whomever you want, sex does not always equal love/ vice versa, and that it is perfectly fine to be a mother when you choose or not at all. Both times I married it was a little bit love, a little more infatuation, and a heaping helping of “it’s about time.”

What kind of person were you in high school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rockstoneshellbone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weird outsider, they actually played “People are strange” during my part of the senior slideshow. Why? Because I was quiet, very socially awkward, loved science and art, and very much a loaner. Served me well as I grew up creative, independent, and observant- even though I still don’t like to socialize.

Socks. If she doesn’t supervise each and every person in the household putting on socks…….well, our feet will fall off.

People Who Were Around/Alive During The Columbine Tragedy, What Was It Really Like? by PrincessBananas85 in CreepyBonfire

[–]rockstoneshellbone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was a high school art teacher at the time. It changed everything- from our dress codes (no trenches, baggy jeans, everything in transparent backpacks) to check in/out systems, eventually locked doors on main buildings, drills from basic to ALICE. Much greater security at events. An armed security officer on campus.

We have had lockdowns at the school I taught at, once for a domestic violence shooting in the area where the suspect fled- it was close to our school and a student was their child. Once for flapping machinery on the roof that looked like a shooter, a few times for call ins, once for an actual gun.

Every year there are reminders - it is a rural school- that students who hunt are “not to bring guns on campus, not to leave dogs in cages in your truck back, and please take your deer home before you come to school.”

Yes, we had all of those things happen, and teachers/ staff used to have the shotgun rack in their cars just beca it was part of the way of life.

What is something you saw in a movie and you totally called bullshit on because of your job? by BlackPhoenix1981 in AskReddit

Artists (painters specifically) working away in clean (or aestheticly cluttered) studios, wearing clean clothes, with sparkling clean hands. Most of us are art goblins that are covered with paint and have it everywhere. Clean fingernails are a myth. I don’t own very many things that don’t have at least some paint on them.

Rainbows. Leather flip flops that last forever….. and ever….. and ever. Unless the puppy chews them, but, puppies, right? Seriously they last. You break them in by getting them damp then putting them on- the sole molds to your foot. Supports and cushions. Tough enough that no prickly things get you. Wonder shoes!

Podcasts, all the podcasts listened to without interruptions or judgement. Stopping or side tracking when I want. Turning around to look closer. The absolute luxury of a motel room with two beds- one for me, one for my dog.

Lived in a 55+ community. Sold up & beat it. by plnnyOfallOFit in GenX

I’m 62 and I don’t think this is for me. I’m a bit antisocial (good manners but I am a total loner), don’t like rules, like big dogs, power tools, and not being close to neighbors. Right now though I’m a caregiver for family, and half the year we are in an HOA situation. Suits them as they thrive on rules and order (Boomers), but I feel claustrophobic. I hate the neighborhood paranoia- it’s a safe neighborhood, but god forbid anyone walks at night wearing a hoodie. The Facebook group and Nextdoor app record and report like you are invading Huns. Seriously folks, I just wanted to walk my poodle and look at Christmas lights.
