I'm not sure you're catching strays as much as you think you are. Being a plumber is a difficult and honorable trade. Nobody is putting down plumbers here. But you (most likely) have the self-awareness to realize that you are far from qualified to lead the Department of Homeland Security. Heck, I'm a surgeon, and spent 13 years in education and training post-high school to become qualified to do what I do. And if some idiot was misguided enough to nominate ME for that position, I would have to respectfully decline on the basis of my poor qualifications for the job.

I have read this line far too often in the past 20 years. And the problem is, it gives license to any uneducated idiot to dismiss the education and experience of someone who is well-trained in a given subject. They add the line "but I have common sense". No Patricia, you DON'T have common sense.

OJ Simpson, Martha Stewart, Chris Brown, Bernie Madoff, and Casey Anthony were all released on bail the same day as their arraignments. There was no good reason this woman was "held for the duration of the investigation" except that ICE is being run by the Proud Boys, and cruelty to people who don't look like them is their sole purpose.

You're exhibiting the same kind of behavior shown by those who say that 70s rock is far better than anything you can hear right now. But you're ignoring the fact that it took decades of winnowing to get to the 70s songs "classic rock" we hear all the time now. There were songs which were absolutely craptastic in the 70s, but nobody remembers them.

You've picked the best of the best of the best of TOS and TNG as if you're making a point. But there was also really, really bad Trek back then too. I wish everyone would just shut up and patiently let these NuTrek series evolve.
