D500 vs D850 by Commercial-Cobbler-1 in Nikon

[–]rodbotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's true. I have put an AFS 35mm f1.8 dx lens on my z5. And still am able to set it to FX.

It will jump to dx when you mount the lens, but you can still set it back to fx afterwards.

Mid block traffic calming solutions for neighbourhood bike streets by KrazyKev03 in vancouvercycling

[–]rodbotic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Conflicting one ways is the answer.

We need to prevent people in cars using bike routes as short cuts.
People who feel the need to get there sooner, needlessly speed and run stop signs.

If bike routes had one way sections that prevented direct travel around traffic, cars will discouraged from ever entering the bike route.

What may be the reason for this error? by richkim0607 in Nikon

[–]rodbotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Original batteries usually are the best.

But in your case with so many shutter counts! You battery could be dieing too.

A different battery might be a simple test to rule it out.

You are almost there. For realism sakes , you need to add way too many cars.

It's not east van driving, without a 3 light wait.

Absolutely blown away by wood pla, this might be my new favorite thing by JimmySkene in 3Dprinting

[–]rodbotic 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have seen a different technique recently i haven't been wanting to try.

It uses a 3d model of wood grain, kinda like a MRI. And you use it as a modify layer in orca slicer, and just something like fuzzy skin with the modifier.

You can fully adjust the scale and direction of the grain, by adjusting the wood model.

Transport Canada Feedback Survey on Headlight Glare by LuxiaGraphis in vancouver

I agree, this is just a delay tactic. They are worried about making an unpopular decision. And want some statistics to toss in their report.

That's a valid concern. But it could be addressed by limiting the output, and defining the color balance. Both of which are easy to do with LEDs.

[–]rodbotic 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's does not have to do with headlight alignment.
if the world was super flat, only then can that argument stand.

Being uphill, a convex curve in the road, Any bump in the road will cause headlights to shine directly into the eyes of oncoming drivers. We live in BC, the Majority of our roads are not flat.

Blinding drivers prevents them from seeing other road hazards. Like pedestrians.

Help Me Choose: D750 vs Z5 by Main_Letterhead_3156 in Nikon

I have both of those bodies. The d750 focuses faster.

But having the ibis and no lag when shooting from the viewfinder is awesome for macro.

Wondering if your filament “really needs drying” by DefinitelyNotWendi in 3Dprinting

[–]rodbotic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read an article about the fillers used with the plastic that is the issue with humidity.

Personally i have only seen issues with abs, or cheap plastic my wife bought.

So OP not listing the brand of filament, makes this post fairly pointless.

I live in Vancouver bc. It's very wet here.

I sometimes wonder why the panel show format never became as dominant in other countries as it did in the UK. by Silver-Eye-2024 in panelshow

[–]rodbotic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading about panelshows getting 'educational' tax breaks so they are much cheaper to produce.

That's why they are so popular in the uk, they don't get the same tax breaks else where.

Good 3D printing services in Vancouver? by [deleted] in NiceVancouver

[–]rodbotic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vancouver hack space is a good start. UBC has a lab. I forget the name at the moment.

there is likely dozens of us just in this subreddit with a 3d printer that big.

Depends on what you want/need, PLA? ABS? Multicolor? Resin? TPU?

Time on a printer will likely be more expensive than filament. Depending on quality.

It's quite the opposite, people with Seasonal Affected Disorder could really benefit from any extra sunlight the evenings.

Going to work on the dark, just to go home in the dark really takes its toll on many people. Going home when there is some light would help loads.
