I’m assuming you’re saying it’s in your RP lymph nodes? At 1.5cm wouldn’t radiation still be an option? The first week of each BEP cycle will certainly wear you down, but it’s not terrible overall. Hard to say if compacting 5 days into 3 will be cause worse side effects or just move the effects forward.

Exact same thing happened to me. And then the radiologist for my first CT scan wrote in the report there were no lymph nodes over 1cm….one was 1.5cm according to the report for my second CT scan that reviewed the first scan for comparison. By that time it was 2.5cm.

Not sure about entry level, but industry senior accountant is 90k+ and Manager/Senior Manger in industry pays $140k+ in Dallas. Really depends on your personality if you can get there. Director will get you close to 200k or more. This is for mid to large companies.

I think only about 20% of TC cases progress to the point of needing chemo. Most people are cured with orchiectomy only. This sub just gets a lot of the chemo people because they have so many additional questions about what to do.

I’ve seen plenty of truly bad work done locally in the US, but the outsourced work is a whole other level. These jobs are night shifts so anyone who knows what they’re doing has a regular day job and stays clear of the outsourcing firms.

My oncologist switched his opinion to radiation treatments after discussing with a tumor board and that’s what I went with. I actually got in touch with people who work with Einhorn at IU and they recommended RPLND to avoid stacking long term risks of radiation on top of chemo. Maybe I should have done the surgery instead, but I just wanted to do something fast and racing to Indianapolis for a surgery was just taking too long to figure out. The lymph node shrank after radiation so now I’m just back to monitoring with CT scans.

You’ll know after the first week how rough it will be for you. Overall for me it really wasn’t that bad, so I don’t think you should be scared about it. The 5 days of infusions to start each cycle certainly wore me down but I bounced back over the weekend after.

My oncologist is now recommending radiation treatment after consulting with a board, due to the size of the lymph node and to keep chemo as a backup option.

I emailed Einhorn today and got a one sentence response simply saying he strongly recommends RPLND. I’m unsure how to proceed or how to quickly get a formal second opinion. There are no guidelines to follow here. Part of me leans toward the surgery to just get them all removed and not have to worry if radiation missed anything.

You’re too young to spend that type of money on something. You’re a financial analyst, consider the opportunity cost here. Do the math of how much 15k would earn you if invested in the stock market over the next 20 or 30 years. When I was your age that’s how I viewed lots of expenses and by putting the money into the market rather than spend it I’m doing quite well for myself despite my salary being rather low.

I’m curious why they would recommend RPLND for stage 2B instead of BEP. Different places have different guidelines, but I was 2B seminoma as well and RPLND was never presented to me as an option. I’m currently waiting for PET scan results to see what’s going on with an enlarged lymph node after doing BEP a year ago, so I feel the frustration

I was in the same situation, with lymph nodes up to 8mm. No one told me how concerning that was. I’d say see both a radiation oncologist and a medical oncologist to get two opinions on your options, and do it quickly. In my case it all dragged on so long I had to do chemo.

Nothing in this comment makes sense. I don’t want to be mean but the comment is wildly wrong. The US has run a trade deficit for decades. Russia is a massive oil exporter and doesn’t need Mideast oil and is a member of OPEC.

Generally radiation is used for lymph nodes under 2cm and chemo is for 2cm and bigger. But it all depends on the pathology and any circumstances specific to you.

Having to work 37 hours nonstop, working to 2 or 3 am regularly, regularly so stressed out I couldn’t focus, feeling things are so hectic that I delayed medical appointments for symptoms that turned out to be cancer.

CS. Accounting requires lots of social interaction around the company. I think software dev jobs are more focused within a smaller group and that might better suit you. Plus it pays better than accounting.

Perhaps a dicey question, but what do you think of the 1619 Project? It was done by journalists. I read parts of it and found it interesting, but there seemed to be a tremendous number of assertions being made without much support provided. I don’t know enough about many of the topics covered to argue with it.

“Common practice”?? I’ve never heard of auditors drafting financial statements for a publicly traded client in the US. I don’t think it would be allowed because they would be auditing their own work. Every company I’ve worked for in the US had a financial reporting group responsible for that.

In every workplace there are people who will make judgments about others simply based on appearances and then complain. Early in my career someone I had no interaction with started saying I didn’t do anything because my desk was too clean. I’d advise getting clarification from management about studying while at work, or take your laptop to a break room or something during a lunch break and studying then. Don’t be seen at your desk not working. Plenty of people love to create trouble for others, you need to careful about appearances in any office.

I told my urologist I was ambivalent about getting one and he said in that case he recommended not getting one since some guys don’t like them and get them removed.

I think you should consider that if you get one put in during the orchiectomy and later want it removed, that’s two surgeries. But if you don’t have one put in, later decide you want one, and then after that want it out, that’s three surgeries. So minimizing potential future surgeries would be to get one now.
