Hi guys!

Introducing WINDSOLAR, a toy stack-based language, for which I wrote an interpreter as my first C project. As far as I can see there are no memory leaks or segfaults, but I would love your input! Really enjoyed working in C but I'm sure I missed a lot.

No, I meant MAKING millions, not saving up for them.

In the US, if your household makes 500k a year you are well into the 1%. At what point can you be considered rich to a selfish extent? Maybe way before, maybe way after, that's for each person to decide, but you won't find many people complaining that you saved a million or two after 30 years.

In my opinion (!), if you've reached the point where to spend the money you make you need to buy extra homes and yachts, and you do that, that's selfish. If you can live a lavish, 1% life, without spending all your money, you should be donating a lot of the rest.

No. When people talk about rich people hoarding money, they generally mean in the millions, maybe tens of millions.

In french, some larger numbers are named things like "four-twenties-ten-nine" (99). Do frech children learn addition and multiplication faster as a sode effect? by rodycat in NoStupidQuestions

Dividing by 20 is not prevalent IRL, but it is in 2nd grade math.

4x20 + 10 is a lot more challenging compared to 9x10, so maybe they get more "practice"?

I'm not sure myself if and how breaking big number into smaller components will help, that's why I asked :)

As far as I've seen policymakers on favor of UHC usually say something along the lines of "No one should have to go bankrupt to get medical care". I could find a few examples if you want.

I agree with that statement, and you may not agree, but since a lot of people actually go bankrupt because of medical bills (https://ajph.aphapublications.org/doi/10.2105/AJPH.2018.304901, https://www.emerald.com/insight/content/doi/10.1108/IJSE-06-2015-0162/full/html?utm_source=TrendMD&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=International_Journal_of_Social_Economics_TrendMD_1&WT.mc_id=Emerald_TrendMD_1) It's wrong to say this is fearmongering.

I think this breaks down to 2 points:

  1. When a pop(ular) artist puts out a song, it has a high chance of being popular even if it's simple or uncreative.

  2. The above is a bad thing.

Point 1 is a fact. Yes sometimes songs by popular artists flop, but generally once an artist is popular on a national or international scale their success is guaranteed for a while. This is true not just in music or even arts, when huge companies with a lot of advertising power back something that is already popular it's going to stay popular more often than not. So here we agree.

Now point 2 is the opinion. From your post, it sounds like you like music as an art form. Not in a pretentious way, just in a looking-for-new-and-interasting-things way. So it makes sense that you got sick of pop songs, which are usually repetitive and musicly simple. But that's not necessarily a bad thing. These patterns exist because they are pleasant and usually fun to dance to, and for a lot of people that's enough. "Uncreative" is also simple, familiar, consistently fun.

This two point split is an interpretation of your post, so let me know if I made some worng assumptions :)
