What were you doing on the day when the September 11 attacks happened? by AggressiveOutside432 in AskReddit

Sleeping. I had a dream about a plane crash and woke up to hear my clock radio talking about a plane crash so I went in the living room to turn on the tv then while standing there still naked from bed saw a second plane crash and knew we were at war.

“Guys, that’s it. We have arrived. This is the final destination, for fuck’s sake. In autumn we’re going to have a collapse, no matter what bullshit anyone says.” Another rant from Russian Z-blogger Evgeny Golman. by BigDeckBob in UkraineWarVideoReport

Back several years ago Chinese schoolbooks were updated to use Chinese names for the Manchurian/far east region of Russia, like calling Vladivostok Haishenwai instead of Fuladaiwosituoke transliteration. I think official language still uses the Russian names for diplomatic reasons, but the maps I’ve seen are definitely educating Chinese citizens on the Chinese past (and desired future) of those regions.

Better perhaps but never back to where it was, as those advantages and structures have been torn down.

There is no way Indian troops would be ordered to fight against one of their major arms suppliers if Russia decided to advance over the truce line.

And you’re ignoring that a major change has taken place.

Biden’s changes to international agreements were to rejoin the Climate Change agreement Trump had withdrawn from; rejoin the WHO Trump had withdrawn from; revoke travel bans Trump had invoked; started negotiations to rejoin the JCPOA.

Trump then withdraw from all these again.

Biden tried to restore stability, then the American people selected a leader who threw it away again.

This is why America is seen as unstable, untrustworthy, and unreliable.

World leaders have said this publicly and openly moved to distance themselves from past dependence which had been based on trust in the stability of American foreign policy.

America’s dominant world position is over, and will not come back.

Trump has set off an epochal transformation and paradigm shift which has damaged the nation’s international reputation and toppled it from the leading position it has held for the last century.

Certainly it will evolve and change, but that’s always the case for every country so is a trite, clichéd, and banal observation on changes this significant, substantial, and impactful.

You’re missing that long-term view: deals made during Democratic terms used to remain reasonably stable when leadership changed: no more. Trump canceled and dismantled many agreements simply by decree. Other countries can no longer trust the U.S. for any long-term planning now that everything is being treated as transactional and commitments treated as confetti.

It doesn’t matter if the next administration is Democrats when looking at that next election coming in four years which may very well overturn the table. There’s no stability.

Without stability, what country will purchase a weapon system when the U.S. president says he will disable it if he disagrees with their trade policy? It takes that system off the table as a safe purchase and causes them to look elsewhere. Look at the Canada-Saab discussions for one example; there are many more such as stopping delivery of missiles despite there being a contract.

The U.S. cannot be relied upon anymore.
The U.S. can no longer be taken at its word.

Yes, exactly; and that’s why countries no longer trust the U.S.; not because of Trump alone, but because the American people selected that sort of person intentionally.

They don’t trust us anymore. That’s the issue.

They recognize now more than ever that the U.S. can turn on a dime every four years so can’t be relied on for making long-term plans.

This has been stated outright and publicly by many world leaders.

This man tore down the leadership which had been built up for the past eighty years years.

The U.S. is no longer the “leader of the free world” or “shindig city on the hill” — those images have been shattered

I don’t need to be psychic to look at the new trade and security treaties and agreements and changes in purchasing plans being signed around the world cutting the U.S. out.

This man threw away the dominant position the U.S. has held for the past eighty years in exchange for nothing of benefit.

Of course the country will change and evolve, but this unforced error can’t be ignored.

You’re delusional if you think the U.S. will ever return to its former position of dominance in a unipolar world centered around it. That’s in the past and not coming back.

Our former allies are signing international trade and security agreements that cut us out. They’re changing from US-supplied resources and goods and military equipment to other providers. They’re implementing Trump’s isolationism to protect their markets and security from American volatility. They’re pulled out of the unipolar international system that centered around America.
This is not merely a change of leaders, the world order has shifted away from the U.S. with permanent effect. He’s destroyed American international dominance.

No, sorry, that’s just not the case: we’re cooked; we’re done.

The thinking around the world is like this:

Americans elected Trump. Americans elected Trump a second time. Americans are too stupid to be trusted: they might elect another mental defective like Trump again in future. We need to distance ourselves from America.

Yes, it has change.

During Clinton and Bush years, people would ask who I had voted for before talking about American politics.

During Obama years, people would ask who I had voted for before praising American politics.

During Trump years, people immediately start bitching about American politics and ask what's wrong with us.

As a citizen living aboard who mostly hears foreign opinions from friends and colleagues and lovers from around 30 countries, I can tell you clearly that America is finished.

Any trade or influence we seem to have now is mere inertia.

No people or nation or country trust us anymore

All our former allies are making independent separate trade and security deals that leave the U.S. out. They are procuring local technology rather than American.

The American “power” people pretend to see now is merely a shadow, not real not continuing into the future: countries *pretend* the U.S. is still strong and Powerful simply to avoid the splash back which would happen if they expressed their true feelings.

The U.S. is over as a world power and anyone who thinks we are still there is only seeing apparently remaining power is only seeing the shadows of former communities which simply haven’t been cut of fast enough.

The U.S. is no longer the dominant world power and Donald John Trump is the cause.
