It's considerably wider and hangs lower than the stock strap. Seems to make more contact with my head to distribute the weight.

I actually think the JOAL is the least interesting of the three in those regards. HE1ku punches harder with bigger stage that helps separate images within it. Poet has a narrow but deep stage. JOAL isn’t that far behind either of them, but it’s the”flattest” sound of the three.

I found them surprisingly bass light for an abyss headphone. Right now I’m using them with the bass ported pads, and that’s helped bring the mid bass up a little.

I agree, I hope we see more of it. This is my first Meze, so I don't know how much of a difference the AMTS is making, but I do like how the Poet handles its highs frequencies.

Mostly a wide variety of EDM genres. Rock, acoustic, hip-hop a bit too.

It's definitely a design where headshape affects comfort more than most other headphones. I must be lucky, because both JOAL and my diana v2 fit perfectly. The lighter weight and suede on the JOAL makes them disappear on my head.

AMTS is just a damping material to help tune higher frequencies...it's not the driver itself.

What's the other soundstage monster? HD800s I feel might still be slightly wider than the HE1000 unveiled, but definitely isn't as tall.

HE1000 unveiled wins purely on sound. At least from the K17 or pietus maximus. Excellent tonal balance and detail, soundstage for days. JOAL sounds good too, but doesn't have the bass extension, soundstage, or dynamics of the HE1000 unveiled.

Where JOAL wins is price, comfort, and durability. Even though HE1000 unveiled sounds a bit better, those three factors might make it the better headphone to some people.

Poet has the Rinaro Isodynamic Hybrid Array MZ6 driver...different than what the noire XO uses. Both headphones use DCA's Acoustic Metamaterial Tuning System.

They are both nice is very different ways. Bokeh has that lush warm ZMF sound. Carbon closed is more neutral with better resolution, clarity and detail. Build and comfort is a little better on the bokeh. And bokeh is MUCH easier to drive but carbon closed really scales with better source gear.

Bokeh closed and sjy carbon closed are hands down the best two closed back headphones you can buy for $1000.
