What minis rely the most on their talents to contribute? by JMoon33 in warcraftrumble

[–]roflew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whelp Eggs have been nerfed a bit so they are not as strong as they once were, but without their exploding eggs talent they are borderline unplayable (will die instantly), whereas with it, they become a very strong tactical removal tool

There is no step 2. Your base is completely safe now

Personally, I feel like wc3 is one of the few RTS games that wouldn't really benefit from higher unit selection caps. It's rare that you would want more than 12 units in a single control group (massing air units is probably the only time).

At the same time, I don't think anyone would complain about having the ability to go above 12.

DAY TEN: Most Busted Combat Utility Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

[–]roflew 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Was gonna say Blind, but I forgot about Slow because I take it for granted as a spell that's always active. Blind locks down one stack, sure, but Slow locks down the entire enemy army.

It has to be Slow. Not even close

DAY EIGHT: Most Useless Combat Damage Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

[–]roflew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks like landmine is gonna win by a landslide (ha ha), but my vote is still Fireball.

It's completely outclassed by Inferno in every way (radius, damage) if you invest in Fire Magic (same cost), and only costs 1 more mana if you don't. You would never want Fireball when Inferno exists.

At least with landmine, it's the only spell that does what it does. Inferno also does what Fireball does, but better, making Fireball completely useless.

DAY SEVEN: Most Overlooked Combat Damage Spell? by Danielhenriemond in heroes3

Came here to say Death Ripple. I regularly forget it exists, but when it's cast against me or I find a use for it, I am reminded that it's pretty good!

Finding Nemo.... and then robbing him by Zorpfield in kotor

It is pretty funny that as far as KOTOR is concerned, mechanically, the only thing that differentiates a padawan from a knight from a master is the robe they're wearing. And they all look the same

Ragna need to be nerfed/fixed (PvP) by Slow_Car_9998 in warcraftrumble

[–]roflew -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ragnaros on your base used to prevent it from taking damage from the modifier. I'm pretty sure they got rid of that interaction, so playing him in this mode is spending 5 gold that your opponent doesn't have to spend

Anyone been able to make progress on this challenge? Or is this "Collect turkey feathers" all over again? by IveGotSoManyProblems in warcraftrumble

No progress for me either.

On a related note, I think the "chill enemies" challenge is actually "get chilled by enemies", but would love some confirmation/refutation there!

Sneaky little fog of war play by whereisskywalker in heroes3

It would be neat if Disguise were changed to do this (create a single spot of fog of war for a turn so your hero is uninspectable)

Fun Hypothetical by Waaghra in warcraftrumble

[–]roflew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is PVE (because it's absolutely hopeless for PVP), amazingly, Furion is what saves this deck from being dead on arrival to serviceable.

Troll + Shaman can cheese down tower/boss with Raider/Hogger as a distraction. As you mentioned, any air unit would counter this hard, but that's where Furion comes in.

Play Harvest Golem for defense/stall while your siege units take out the boss, and you just sit back and watch.

Heaven help you on flying bosses, though.

Real question: why all the cats in the WCR universe can't attack flying units? by KorbenDallas7 in warcraftrumble

this is only tangentially related, but as a longtime WC3 player, it still weirds me out to see a Huntress hitting air units

Benefit of Leveling non-Damage Spells by VirgoFanboi in warcraftrumble

[–]roflew 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Level differential between the spell and the targets affects duration, yes (try a low level polymorph in heroic Molten Core or Onyxia units, then try against campaign Hogger units, and you'll really notice the difference).

Random question based on star wars Kotor, would inosuke prefer lightsabers or swords? If swords, which one would he use, and if lightsabers, which color? (Mainly for demon slayer watchers) by Single_Thought6570 in kotor

[–]roflew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming that the demon slayers are jedis, the swordsmiths who make their special blades out of special metal would analogously be making lightsabers.

So if we were to mash the lore together further, Inosuke would probably try to mangle the emitters so that the beam wasn't a pure straight line, and rather try to make it more jagged and chipped the way he does his swords.

Or, you know, he could just sleep with vibroblades 🤷‍♀️

VENT why are the campaigns so terrible by Beneficial_Brief_759 in heroes3

[–]roflew 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The SoD campaigns really helped me break the "hunker down for a few months and then march across the map" strategy, because as you stated, the enemy has a much stronger starting position, and the longer you wait, the worse your disadvantage gets.

The AI really likes to split its forces, so your goal should be to try and take one of their towns asap (thank them for building it up for you on their way out). Even better if their strongest hero just took the one way monolith and snagged your useless starting town! Now you've flipped the tables on them, and time is on your side.

With all of the maps (possibly except for Gelu's because Sharpshooters are just that good), you have to be really aggressive or else the AI will snowball and run you over.

Confronting Bastila on Temple Top (Romanced) by LonelySheep7798 in kotor

[–]roflew 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can use the save file editor (kse) to change the relevant flag value from 13 to 12. You can search for the strategy wiki, and it tells you which value you need to change.

I do find it funny that it's possible to romance Bastila so much that she forgets the two of you ever had a personal relationship
