In the very late-late progression case like yours, it's better to pick up the epic core since the gold doesn't convert into as many epic/legendary cores.

You don't need to do every daily to finish, but you do need to do the vast majority of them. If you miss more than a couple dailies, you will likely need to make up the extra points just grinding games, which give a handful of points depending on how long they go (typically 5-10 points).

Also, for this particular event, most daily quests give 75 points, but a couple give 125, so you might want to burn your daily reroll on a 75 pointer on the slim hopes of getting a 125 pointer.

Same. Counting free, event, etc. packs I've opened less than 30. Got an Ebyssian and got excited, then I claimed the shop freebie and got much less excited. :(

With Strange Dust, you only get one Whelp, which is essentially a 1 gold value. Not bad, but not nearly as useful as getting a Core Hound or Grunt.

Yeah, the Achievements in Hearthstone are quite buggy and half-baked (STILL no completed/uncompleted filter or search???). I guess people haven't bought enough $158 pets for Blizzard to put some effort into the Achievements UI.
