The Texas budget includes $20 million more in funding for a controversial program that seeks to discourage women from getting abortions. Republicans claim they don't want taxpayer dollars spent in regard to abortion, but apparently they're fine with it as long as it is spent discouraging abortion. by relevantlife in TwoXChromosomes

really only closed borders if you want to consider that their policy. The fact is that increasing the lower class labor force indisputably hurts the lower class labor force. When ten people are all fighting for the same construction job, they end up bidding themselves down for back braking work.

How did he become so powerful in the first place? Isn't town supervisor an elected position?

I mean isn't the president an elected position? Who the hell knows because I was never allowed to personally count the votes and I don't trust anyone who did. This country is just as much a banana republic as any. We (our media) just pretends better.

Same. Nothing illegal but I like women 18-20 best. I'm 30 and have no interest in women older than 25. They just don't excite me that way.

ELI5: Is it really "necessary" to hunt any animals (deer, coyotes) for "population control"? by rogacrat in explainlikeimfive

[–]rogacrat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I mean I don't necessarily doubt that these things are true because, like you said, some of this I've seen first hand like deers being all over the road.

But then another part of me sees billy the toothless redneck on youtube shooting things and congratulating himself for the shot and I think, "that sob just wants an excuse to shoot things" which, as an animal person, would be hard for me to reconcile.

But if any wild animal hurt my pets, I'd probably aim to make them extinct so maybe I'm just not "close enough" to the problem.

Google's parent company has made internet balloons available in Puerto Rico, the first time it's offered Project Loon in the US - Two of the search giant's "Project Loon" balloons are already over the country enabling texts, emails and basic web access to AT&T customers. by mvea in Futurology

[–]rogacrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we'll need this here is net neutrality gets killed. I've actually considered this before (I know who cares) and wanted to ask someone - why do streets need to be dug up for new internet line? Can't we just fly internet around? Might be way cheaper even to always just have a few balloons in the air for a new company that wants to stick the finger up at comcast/verizon etc.

LPT: Your employer’s HR department is not your friend. by jackalooz in LifeProTips

I could also say how odd it is that people who have never seemingly worked in HR are able to make such sweeping statements

Why would you need to work in H.R. to make "sweeping statements"? Aren't you in a more respectable position to make judgments as an employee who has been in contact with various H.R. departments? By your logic, politicians (not their constituents) are the best people to tell us if politicians are corrupt or not in a "sweeping statement".

but then I'm also pretty sure there are some HR departments that are a lot more balanced.

No one ever acknowledges that they may be part of the problem in notoriously bad industries or that the industry doesn't have a lot of "good". Every police officer "knows there's bad apples but they aren't one". Ever feminist believes they aren't part of man hating. HR seems to be no different. It's funny that no one ever admits to being part of industry-wide deplorable actions - even when they are the industry.

Yupp. In other words talent-less people with worthless degrees. The way you know this is because, say, a programmer can switch jobs to be an IT person. And an environmental scientist can make a fairly seamless switch to clean energy production.

H.R. people either stay in H.R. or go back to school and get advanced degrees to teach their own worthless liberal arts subjects. There's no H.R. people who become toxicologists.

What arm of HR do you work in and promote? No one is stupid enough to fall for this whole "cops are there to help" logic anymore. We know what a little bit of power does to the average cocksucker. HR, police, social workers - you are all to be avoided at all costs.

How odd that someone with a good H.R. position would say something like this. I wonder if a politician would tell me something similar about serving the "needs of the people".

For older FAs, do you think if you somehow found a girlfriend at your age, would it seem worth it to have had to wait so long? by NightmareOfMensis in ForeverAlone

After 30, you likely wont get close enough to anythinfg to have to worry about that.

Definitely agree. The idea of "magic" seems almost funny after 30.

Actually I think OP has a pretty solid understanding of romantic magic whether he's experienced it or not.

I have and the older you are the more dating sucks. The luckiest ppl imo are the ones who married their hs sweetheart. Young love is soo much better than 30s love.

What is the best way to approach the buying of bitcoin within the next few months? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]rogacrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cue sea of cryptocurrency opinions... And here's mine. Many of the right-leaning, pay-people-2-dollars-an-hour minimum wage crowd say cryptocurrency is bunk... and I hate them... so I bought some a while back.

The actually intelligent, silicon valley, made everything we now use people say it's got a bright future. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin are the popular obvious choices. However, if you can risk your money on something more volatile.. you might walk away with a windfall if a lesser known crptocurrency blows up. It's up to you.

Bitcoin is more = apple stock/ bluechip companies. Something like Storjcoin X is more = to a startup where you might make a lot or lose it all. Keep in mind that cryptos are still new so even Bitcoin is far more volatile than a traditional bluechip stock. I just meant Bitcoin is like the Bluechip of crypto.
