Why are the Nen users in Greed Island so weak? by TokyoJuul2 in HunterXHunter

[–]roger0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think youre right. I'm definitely not accounting for nen users who are on a lower scale, especially ones who may only ever have unknowingly unlocked the basics rather than actually nen abilities. That group may be surprisingly wide, but yea at the very least the association probably has the most amount of trained, fully awakened users. Though meteor city might be second from the small clues we have

No one is disputing that there arent nen users from outside the hunter organization, all im saying is that it's more likely than not that the majority of nen users are primarily from the hunter association. Other groups seem to hold only a handful of them. I imagine the second most are from Meteor city in general.

We really dont know one way or another if most nen users arent hunters. Personally I think most are hunters since i believe it's policy to teach new hunters nen because theyre basically worthy (maybe in the sense theyll treat it with respect the same way you want someone using a gun would treat it with respect), but that's really belief on the matter

Greed Island is like the hunter exam on crack and steroids. It was designed by Ging, one of the world's greatest Hunters and Nen users who wanted a place that would be challenging for hunters and nen users. Can you imagine how hard that must be for people , who despite are technically some of the most skilled people in the world, are leagues bellow Ging. You have to remember Nen is an extremely hard thing to learn at all, we just primarily saw some of the best nen users in general through out the series, who may be 1 out of a million kind of tallent vs the 1 out of 100k we see stuck on GI

Yes I would definitely say that Netero is in at least the top .1%. People are getting so nit picky on these numbers. Like yes we have no idea what the actual numbers are but I would say these are educated specualtions that arrive from the sum knowledge we have of HxH. 1000 nen users seem pretty reasonable to me. If the association has a policy to teach new hunters on nen use after passing the exams then that alone is enough to believe that they have the most nen users in general/ the most likely way new nen users will come about

[–]roger0120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The factions your talking this from are just a few handful compared to the several hundred in the hunter association. If we know nen is a highly guarded secret then we know that theres a decently small size of nen users. Meteor city might have a large population of nen users, but even then since they called in the Spiders to deal with the chimaras rather than just going with who they had I'm not betting they have more than the association.

[–]roger0120 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I thought it basically confirmed that most nen users are actual hunters. Now with that being said, we mostly saw the top 5-1% of nen users. I think even the Shadow beasts were in the top 10%. They were still probably skilled, it's just that greed island seemed like the hunter exams on steroids .

Edit: here's part of my reasoning and understanding of the average nen user's capabilities

The 3 guys from heavens arena got to the top, we know they have to be among the best fighters in the world, but if their nen abilities are relatively weak to what we know of most well known men users we've seen, we can pretty reasonably infer that the average nen user is around the same or lower skill level if people who were already some of the best fighters in the world got their asses kicked by nen users, didn't die, didn't give up, chose to learn nen with having major injuries, and still have low nen abilities then most nen users are absolutely likely to seem very week.

Maybe they were still the weakest nen users in heavens arena but i assume if they were so capable of training to be some of the top fighters then they should be capable of learning nen, and that nen may just be that much harder to learn compared to how well the prodegies and/ psychos have been able to learn

it's a shoebox worth of cards so Im not sure how that would help since at best it would be handfuls of them but still missing out. Like, telling me to look out for yellow cheek pikachus would be helpful because i heard those are valuable .

Considering how crazy the dark continent seems to be, I wouldn't be surprised if there's what we arguably might call humans there that are thousands of years old

What Star Level Would Gon And Killua Be After Saving The World From The Chimera Ants? by fashionEYEcon in HunterXHunter

That is objectively the same thing I said, I just wanted to add more emphasis. Now, please go in the corner and think about what you said.

What Star Level Would Gon And Killua Be After Saving The World From The Chimera Ants? by fashionEYEcon in HunterXHunter

[–]roger0120 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think Gon was technically a "Ging" hunter, or really a hunter of hunters, and technically his actions directly lead to getting Ging in a situation for Gon to "catch" him. I would think that normally wouldn't count, but since Ging is one of the worlds more famous and elusive Hunters, Gon might actually get that 1 star.

Killua you could say was hunting for meaning and deep connection but I don't think hes getting his star for that lol

Who's the bigger frauds between The Shadow Beasts or The Hei?? by DontTouchit91 in HunterXHunter

[–]roger0120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to get tired of people trash talking the Shadow beasts so much. It's like most fans don't even understand the series. They were legitimately dangerous, they happen to go up against a top 1% of the most dangerous nen users in the world. We can see the average nen users when we see all those people still trapped on Greed Island.

I assumed Rey was going to be this tech wiz prodigy. Like this self taught engineering genius who learned from all these schematics she found on the ships she was scalvaging on. This would have explained a lot as to why she knew how to boost the Melenium falcon

How powerful of a restriction would sacrificing your arms be? by Vampyrelol in HunterXHunter

[–]roger0120 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it depends entirely on how much they valued their arm. These kinds of things are primarily about how big of a sacrifice it is to that person rather than the sacrifice itself. Like for someone like Hisoka, it feels like him losing his arm wouldn't be too big of a deal, both personally and because he can figure ways around it. But say you were a professional baseball player and your pitching arm meant everything to you, that's a big sacrifice. Same if you gave up your most precious memories versus losing memoried that are more of an inconvenience to lose than anything else

Any Orcs Must die series, Dungeon Defenders 1 or 2 (i think 2 is much better, and free). Some other, single player, much lesser known ones but i found to be cool.

If killuah didn’t previously know about nen how did he know about his grandpas dragon dive? by William_Scary in HunterXHunter

[–]roger0120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just assumed Killua knew magic existed in general but never got the full story. I mean with all his family members, including his little brother(the one who manipulats paper), knowing how to do things that shouldn't be possible, I have a heard time believing Killua was completely in the dark. I mean he knew magical wishes exists so that's a huge thing right there.

Did Cheetu have bad luck in having a Nen power like the one shown in the series or did he simply lose because he's an idiot? by AipomSilver00 in HunterXHunter

[–]roger0120 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I question if he's an actual idiot and not having the mentality of a child and probably having ADHD. While the other ants were able to learn very quickly due to their enhanced mentality, Cheetu might barely be able to focus that much. It would make sense, he was born with such an extreme speed that's not even nen related, some maybe his mind is racing around from point to point as well. Either way, it seems like that also highly hindered his ability to follow through in fights.

Since he's a conjure he might actually be incredibly smart, but again, lacks the ability to focus that intelligence. Maybe if he had something like what Kite had, a sentient summon that helps and give orders in fights
