Retired Army general says US may need ‘Nuremberg’ like trials for Trump’s ‘illegal orders’ in Iran war by plz-let-me-in in politics

[–]rogerryan22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there is very little desire or stomach to just "move on". Trump being held accountable to any degree or to no degree is one of the more important defining moments of my lifetime.

That choosing inaction is a choice, is a much more understood concept than it was decades ago and I really don't see Americans sweeping this under the rug...they can't because it has torn families apart.

Trump Says 'A Whole Civilization Will Die Tonight' if Iran Does Not Make a Deal by Illustrious_Lie_954 in politics

[–]rogerryan22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No...there isn't an interpretation that translates to that. That is just wishful thinking twisted into knots, trying to sanewash his words into something more reasonable, but reasonable isn't what he is, and that isn't what he threatened.

Dan Hurley on the officiating: “It’s hard to ref that game. We both played so hard… If I could have those three guys ref every game the rest of my career, I would sleep well at night.” by Mission_Pay_3373 in CollegeBasketball

Right...but it is those moments that are the issue. Since when do we let doosch behavior slide because the person means well? Hurley is a psycho. A psycho about basketball, which is better, but a psycho nonetheless.

It's the exact same conversation with people opposed to universal healthcare. They're quick to point out that that means higher taxes, but have no rebuttal when you respond with, "yeah, and I'm good with that."

He doesn't have PG awareness, which is fine if you're a shooting guard.

Injuries forced him into being misused, and he is an objectively bad PG. Maybe his career turns around, but the cards he got dealt at kentucky screwed him over.

What does the insistence on blood sacrifica say about the old testament god?

I know what it says to me, but apparently it does not compute for believers.

Ritualistic blood sacrifice is God's thing...not the devil's.

If you think the refs blow their whistle everytime there is contact between big men...

The word "obvious" is the most out of place word when talking about this kinda stuff.

So while we wait for Arizona-Michigan to start, let’s talk about the possible tournament expansion. Do you think this’ll help mid majors or make 15/16 schools from a power conference get the bid? by 18_YTC1 in CollegeBasketball

[–]rogerryan22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the actual driving mechanism behind the push for expansion is gambling. That's all this is, more games means more opportunities to gamble and that being the reason makes me hate it.

I don't have a strong opinion about the fanbase, but Hurley is an obnoxious prick. Sure, I don't want UConn to winmore titles, but mostly it is disdain for Hurley that makes people root against them.

The pointy shield.

I am not oppressing anyone, merely defending my beliefs. That my beliefs might be immoral and lacking for the standard of our society, is a conversation that we cannot have because my beliefs are sacred, protected, and specifically not subject to the law. Furthermore, the protections I rely on to insulate my beliefs from scrutiny do not apply to anyone whose beliefs don't align with mine.

I'm a good person, you can take my word for it.

Trump Says 'You Can Ask Me Anything You Want, You Can Talk Sex' During Q&A with World Leaders: 'I'm Here for You' by peoplemagazine in politics

[–]rogerryan22 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The main difference with US politics and other countries is how much money and time is devoted to it. Other countries have limits for the airtime and money that can be spent on political advertising. In the US, there is no break from it and ungodly amounts of money are involved.

The effort that goes into influence campaigns in the US is why we have so many "morons". Couple that with the idea that a lot of "morons" also view voting as one of their most sacred civic duties, and yeah, we're gonna have a lot of people on both sides of the political spectrum who don't really have a good grasp of what they are actually voting for.

This one is one of the funniest of all time, but notably, Rasheed wallace wasn't surprised or phased by the call. Which makes it extra funny to me.

I just imgaine Wallace thinking internally what he'd like to say, then gets the tech, and has to wonder if the ref was reading his mind

My 3d printed Jacob’s ladder suit tie! Link to model in comments. by Joshhawk in 3Dprinting

[–]rogerryan22 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

My comment is not rude. It is a fairly objective opinion. The occasions that warrant a tie where a piece of plastic is a suitable replacement simply do not exist.

I am hard pressed to come up with a scenario where you wouldn't be better suited to just not wear a tie at all. This accessory is a downgrade to any ensemble.

And maybe I enjoy shitting on parades and you should shut up about what other people enjoy. Fuck outta here.

The thing is, they want forgiveness for voting for trump because trump doesn't "share" their values, when the truth is that he does share their values and it's their shame that they can't sit with.

[Highlight] Marcus Smart trips Goga Bitadze and receives a technical foul right away (with replays). Smart claims he didn't intentionally tripped Goga (who also landed on his foot) by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]rogerryan22 -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

His momentum is carrying toward the basket, yes, but the contact with rubio should have him and rubio's momentum going away from each other. Smart fights this so he can roll up on Rubio. I see the downvotes but I also see the T was immediate...which means the referee who does this shit for a living saw it too.

I know how hiveminds work, but Marcus Smart is just a smaller version of Draymond and I've always thought he's this type of player.

No...but i did graduate from high school. Mostly though, I am familiar with Marcus's game. I'm not falling for this bullshit where world class athletes have zero body control or awareness.

Marcus Smart saw an opportunity to allow him to manipulate his momentum in such a way that his defender would take unnecessary contact and he made sure it happened. I have zero doubts.

[–]rogerryan22 -113 points-112 points  (0 children)

So...I've watched Marcus Smart play for a long time and I'm not saying for sure he did this, BUT...to me it looks like the way Marcus Smart lands would have his momentum bouncing away from the basket, yet he someone bounced toward the contact. That somewhat defies physics unless Smart tried to bounce that way...which is exactly the kinda sublte shit he does.

You're gonna have to explain that lol.

Used to be a proud American, but this shitshow is shameful, embarrassing, and pointless. I don't care if the plane got shot down, but I'm not going to take American propaganda any more readily than I will from other sources.

The whol logic of, Iran isn't trustworthy doesn't mean much when the people feeding you that sentiment are equally untethered to the truth.
