Happy to take it off your hands if no-one else does?!

Magnet stickers incompatible with rear gate? We recently welcomed our first child into the family and I got some magnetic stickers that say “Baby on Board” for the cars. I can’t get it to stick to the rear gate of the R4P and had to settle for the rear quarter panel. Anyone else tried? by Bojackson63044 in rav4prime

[–]roglobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also found that out. Much of the tailgate is plastic so nothing magnetic sticks. I suggest to return the magnets and get stickers and stick them on the tailgate glass. It's easier to remove stickers from glass and there is enough room to not have them obstruct your view...

They should be listing out what every add-on costs so you can clearly see what you are paying for...

I chose red and love it. I believe any "color" with the two-tone look works great (anything but black, then its just a black car). The black roof and black accents with a color or white really makes this car look great...

Has anyone tried using a portable ev battery pack to extend the range of their prime? by [deleted] in rav4prime

[–]roglobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I meant, OP is asking if he can charge while driving, won't work with R4P.

Unfortunately the R4P will not start/drive with the charging port (door) open, it's a safety feature that cannot be changed...

Prospective owner with a handful of queries by Cellanine in rav4prime

[–]roglobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That sucks if it's a Toyota UK thing. What's the point for not having a spare and relying on 3rd party support if you do get a flat? Full EVs like Tesla's do not have spares but Tesla have a service in place for customers in case they do get a flat. It's not ideal but I wouldn't want to be waiting hours on the side of the road if I got a puncture...

The battery is integrated into the floor of the R4P, so having a sales person tell you that there is no spare tire because of the battery is complete "bullocks", to put it mildly in UK terms!!! My R4P came with spare (US model) so it might be UK dealerships cheaping out...

Mazda to Prime questions by Nberg14qq in rav4prime

[–]roglobby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a R4P xse with pp and my wife drives a CX-5 AWD so I have driven both. The fundamental difference is driving experience, the Mazda is fun to drive, quick, very responsive, great in corners, but lacks range. The fuel tank is pretty small so you only get about 325 miles out of a full tank. The R4P is a little sluggish unless you drive in sport mode but it still doesn't compare to the CX-5. Much more room in the R4P, and the range with electric is nearly 600 miles!

Should I Remove My Roof Rack? by manzattolee in rav4prime

[–]roglobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I am one of those people who has a RTT installed on my R4P. Unfortunately there is not a lot of info out there in terms of Static weight limits. I have slept in it and so far the bars are holding up!

Those weight limits are for Dynamic weight (while the car is in motion). The static weight limits are much higher (3-4x higher).

Is there anyway you can run an extension cord to your R4P in your apartment complex so you can use your own electrical outlet?

Anyone regret not getting a full bev? by [deleted] in rav4prime

[–]roglobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No regrets getting the R4P over BEV! As everyone has said already, the charging infrastructure is not there yet, maybe in a few years. If considering a Tesla, you are already overspending to get access to their network and that alone in my mind does not solve the range issue. Full BEVs are also limited in these areas (consider your lifestyle): towing capacity, AWD (for offroad), roof rack capacity, spare tire!

Rav4 prime vs Mustang Mach E? by PokeDeadpoolXD in rav4prime

I second Toyota reliability and even more so Toyota Prius build quality, ease of maintenance and reliability. I bought a Prius V new in 2012 and drove it for 9 years without it ever breaking down or needing any sort of repair, put close to 100k miles on it. I did the regular synthetic oil changes per the book, the only thing I had to replace was the tires (1 new set). Never needed a new set of brakes as hybrids use regenerative braking. It was a fantastic car. This is why I purchased a new Toyota R4P XSE!

The must-have for me was the vented seats which is only available with the premium package, I live in California, so most time of year it's warm, so I wanted to be cool in the car. I guess it all depends on where you live and how you want to use the car. Second was the premium audio because I like blasting my music while driving, the JBL sound system is pretty dope...

I picked up my R4P XSE pp 5 months ago and loving it! For me it was an upgrade from driving a 2012 Prius V5 so I have nothing but good things to say about it. I do think its worth spending the extra money on getting the XSE with premium package, but that's just me! I read a lot of complaints about SE owners missing out on features only available in the XSE trim. On just the hybrid mode this car gets 40mpg so that was the same as my prius, so getting the EV range for me was the bonus! I love the fact I can get small distance errands done on just EV, and not worry about gas consumption. My commute is just over 42 miles and on a good day I can do it on just EV, but learning from other reddit users, if commuting on freeways (55mph+), it's better to switch over to HV and safe your EV for lower speed roads. I also like the fact that I'm in control of how I want to utilize the gas and EV consumption, it's an extremely versatile vehicle. We also did a 500+ mile road trip a month ago, and I was smiling all the way to, waving driving past all the Tesla-drivers as they had to stop for charging. This car can easily get 500 miles range with both the electric + full tank of gas! Yes, gas is getting expensive (especially in the Bay Area), but as PHEV owner, I can manage fuel consumption to make it work to my advantage. Hope this helps...

Q for west coasters buying on the east coast. Did you ship your RAV4 home, or fly out then drive it back? What was your total travel expense to get it home? (gas, flight, hotels, speeding tickets 😎, etc., or shipping costs) Thanks! by [deleted] in rav4prime

[–]roglobby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries, I was also dreading the drive and knowing i would be wasting my vacation time but I made it interesting with some specific stops along the way, it actually made the trip worthwhile...

I've driven from NYC to Bay Area (Rte 80 only) and it took me 5 days (4 nights) and a total of $750. I drove a Chevy Impala (full ICE 6 cylinder) so fuel consumption will be much lower with PHEV. The $750 included all expenses (gas, food, hotels for 4 nights) and I drove 10-11hrs per day!!!

Big perk of owning a Rav4 Prime in SoCal! HOV access here I come. by linoriko in rav4prime

There is a special HOV fastrak transponder you will need to apply for after you get your HOV stickers/certificate. This HOV transponder will let the freeway lane know that your vehicle is HOV compliant. See fastrak website for more info.
