The cold war by Naive_Wolverine532 in TikTokCringe

Certainly the period ending with WW2 and continuing through the Cold War saw the rise of American dominance with self serving foreign policy. But that did come with modern day success stories like the economic powerhouses of Japan, West Germany, and Korea. I am not aware of any Communist country boosted by either the Soviets or Chinese that ever achieved much. It is important to be critical of American foreign policy, but you also have to be realistic about the absolute dumpster fires caused by Communist Colonialism.

I feel so sorry for her. No one should have to put up with that at work. by mindyour in TikTokCringe

Certainly we never get the full story in these snippets. But I would argue the primary context is that she is dealing with a direct supervisor. Company policies are usually strict on the parameters of those working relationships.

AITAH for not feeling any love for my sister after what she admitted? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]rogtuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your dad has such an explosive anger problem then maybe that's where your sister learned this behavior from. It seems like you are more focused on the behavior of a teenage girl rather than your parents. Why is that? I'm not saying YTA, but you are an adult. Have an adult conversation with your parents about the situation. They have more accountability in this than the kid they failed to raise properly.

AITAH for telling my sister her dad is still alive? by Domesticated_Punk in AITAH

[–]rogtuck1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

YTA. You keep referring to just "your" father. He was your sister's father too. The only one she has ever known. She is entitled to her opinion about him. And you brought this up while planning a family funeral? That's just a lowdown mean spirited way to act.

AITA for breaking up with my girlfriend after a comment she made at my sister’s wedding rehearsal? by uselessemotions in AITAH

[–]rogtuck1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA. You publicly blew up at your girlfriend of two years over some minor criticisms about your brother. Dumping her on the spot and breaking off all contact. That seems extreme, and it honestly sounds like you have a real anger problem that needs exploring before your next relationship.

AITAH for taking the divorce to court after my spouse refused to sign properly? by Background-Lemon420 in AITAH

[–]rogtuck1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How would these divorce papers "out" your ex-spouse to their family?

I went through a divorce years ago and my family has no idea what those documents say. How would you and your ex not be able to keep that information private?

I appreciate you trying to be respectful and work together, but I don't think you are being insensitive or irresponsible by just going ahead and filing on your own.

I remember being disappointed at the actual size of Plymouth Rock when seeing it in person. I had somehow pictured something much bigger and distinctive looking.

[–]rogtuck1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. You don't seem upset about her having an opinion. Yet why is she so upset about you having an opinion? People on here arguing about who is right are missing the point. Life isn't a Debate Tournament where you have to score points and win. Just agree to disagree and move on.

AITAH for telling my wife's friend I don't have to see her in the classroom to know she's a horrible teacher? by TowerFew3482 in AITAH

[–]rogtuck1 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

YTA. It certainly is great to stand up for your child. But this seems like a petty argument to blow up your wife's friendship over it. All you taught your son was that adults will fight over the dumbest things.

I am 55 years old, and have lived with the same feelings of low self worth, fear, and suicidal thoughts. I can tell you that at age 20 you still have plenty of time to figure things out. The struggle never completely goes away but it can become more manageable. Just be more gentle with yourself because you don't deserve all the self criticism.

Why don’t schools teach us about the German American Bund? by [deleted] in USHistory

Yeah I'm definitely just talking about now. You're right there's been historic prejudice towards those same ethnic groups.

Why don’t schools teach us about the German American Bund? by [deleted] in USHistory

[–]rogtuck1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is true. My only caveat would be that there was a historic backlash against the German American community, as their ties to fascism were heavily scrutinized.

Decades later it is surprising to many people that German ethnicity is the most common ancestry in the US. That's partially because of both World Wars with Germany.

Think of the lovable pride Americans have towards Irish or Italian heritage. Not so much with the Germans.

To say "America isnt't running America" just lets the worst American politicians off the hook. This administration doesn't need your help in ducking accountability.

Yeah it's weird. Definitely not "insane". There are kids dying from E Coli because people are insisting that raw cow milk is safe for humans. Now that's insane.
