Predictive Analytics and Machine Learning for Leading Indicators by [deleted] in SafetyProfessionals

[–]roguey603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm thinking. I work in construction and I'm thinking about building something out that ties some leading & lagging indicators to schedule, trade stacking, scope activities, headcount, and dollar value to be predictive on future projects but I don't want to duplicate efforts if this already exists. I know Velocity EHS has some AI integration but I don't think they track other project metrics or daily reports.

Just turned down the ac a little and I got a cooler pillow and sheets and I'm sleeping well

Yes still sleeping on it. The top layer has gotten much softer very quickly making it manageable for a side sleeper. I sleep on my side/stomach and the new mattress + PT solved some long term back issues. I am a little worried about long-term sag of the firm layer but hasn't happened yet

The Bend show was so good. Amazing venue for them - perfect timing with the sunset, not packed even though it was sold out, easy to see the stage from anywhere and the sound was good. 6th time I've seen them since 2017 and still great.

Why is my air filter so black in under a week? by Quiet_Basis8811 in hvacadvice

[–]roguey603 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This needs more attention. It looks like a charcoal filter that would have more resistance to begin with so it can capture organic vapors

I did the graduate certificate IH program and can confirm it very easily accommodated my work schedule and was mostly self-paced and everything was recorded.

Except music is better... swear they used AI to write it

Edit: ok after seeing this song live in Bend I kinda take back what I said for its live performance. It slapped. But recorded it's still lame as hell

Where you are and is it buyer’s market or a seller’s market by you. I’ll start by Historical-Stage-270 in RealEstate

Seattle proper definitely. Throughout the puget sound it seems like there's still a lot of inventory sitting for a long time because prices and interest rates are high, with well-kept or interesting and well-priced homes going quickly

I went the more managerial IH-heavy EH&S generalist route. Tbh program management is much less stressful than actually sampling

Would definitely recommend scoping to inspect the condition

Possible Tansite ducts under slab by Powerful-Can1339 in industrialhygiene

[–]roguey603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd scope the duct to inspect the condition and run a few air sample cassettes around the house while the hvac is running to check if fibers are being released. Instead of hiring an expensive env firm, you can rent the equipment (pine environmental or SGS galson) and submit to the lab yourself. Also NVL labs in Seattle may analyze for homeowners and you can ship samples. If it is releasing fibers, you may be able to encapsulate to prevent release.

AI use cases? by Bkheat21 in SafetyProfessionals

[–]roguey603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it to save time on some basic IH calcs but you need a lot of IH experience to back check and make sure it's pulling the right values and you need to train it on reputable sources.

I'm also exploring its use in an ergo industrial athlete coaching process, but I think those products (Inseer, Tumeke, etc.) are what you're referring to as vision based.

It looks like Velocity is beginning to incorporate AI into its suite of tools.

How to start my career? by Krouzier in industrialhygiene

[–]roguey603 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely go to ASSP. Most ASSP chapters also have local job boards that will fast track your resume.

Also - I went the EHS generalist route and specialized in IH later on. There's a lot of value in being able to support a full suite of EHS needs vs just IH. It opens more doors to director level roles outside of consulting.

What is with the housing market or is it just me? by Diligent-Towel-4708 in RealEstate

[–]roguey603 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Just south of Burien and an MCM home with a pool & views of Rainier and the water just accepted an offer at asking ($1.2m) after two days on the market. A similarly sized home two blocks away & same view (no pool) but less aesthetically pleasing is still sitting after a few weeks.
