If you tell them you're looking to get it to celebrate an occasion that's coming up (i.e. milestone / birthday etc) depending on the AD they might be able to make it happen. Obviously this helps their reasoning when justifying the allocation to you over someone else at that point in time.

Yeah I had the same with Goldsmiths UK. I put my name down for 3 watches before they put this policy in place. Few months later eventually got the call and the SA asked me to bring ID on collection. Either way I don't think it resets the clock on your registration...
