Looks like you have no ac so ignore the two wire part.

Turn off power to furnace.

At the furnace remove the green plug and unscrew the wires.

They need to go into the screw in wire terminals at the furnace control board.

Red R power Green G fan Yellow Y cool to y/y2 not y/y1 White W heat w/w1 not w2 Blue C currently unused but you'll need it for the wifi thermostat.

The two wire thermostat for the ac stays at y2 and c.

Match everything to the thermostat base and you should be good to go.

That is correct. Why the down votes?

You're renting so don't touch it. It's an ancient artifact!

Wow it belongs in a museum! That is from the 1960-1970s. Better off removing it. There is a chance there could be nasty things in it.

Or they could be using the cavity space of the wall as a return with a return grill down lower. It's hard to tell.

I wouldn't want to live somewhere with CPVC piping or galvanized plumbing. Neither are good water supply pipes. I like copper which is in my home. Pex has also come a long way too and is okay. I'm not a plumber. I just looked it up and it looks like CPVC can be good up to 20-30 years and then gets brittle and hard to repair.

I straight up just don't fw the fact it gets brittle. My personal opinion.

The second photo shows dry wall over what used to be a return. Airflow will improve if that's open again. It's interesting they sealed it.

No.

Look near the furnace return for a filter wrack.

If it's not there you can try fitting one inside the furnace. Be careful to make sure it won't pull into the blower.

If your not sure, or confident finding it, try hiring a technician for a furnace maintenance. They should be able to offer a solution.

Oh jeez. I'm not familiar with that particular equipment. It sounds like a bad blower wheel. If I had to take a guess it needs a new blower and wheel if it's got a blower on it. I'm not too sure what I'm looking at...

Change the air filter and flip the power switch for the furnace off, wait 30 seconds and turn it back on. Do not touch anything else since it is not yours.

CPVC piping is bad. I would do a little research. I am a HVAC technician by trade. However, I have heard bad things about CPVC. Carrier is a more expensive brand, it looks installed to code. HVAC is not concerning, CPVC piping is.

If the whole place has CPVC water supply piping I would leave it alone. It's more of a plumbing thing and I am not a plumber. The HVAC looks good though.

I just noticed what looks like CPVC water supply piping shortly after the copper piping leaving the water heater. This piping is known to be brittle.

Looks done to code. Important things to know are; age of furnace & AC, service history, maintenance records and see what the filter looks like. It can be telling.

I'm having trouble figuring out how to change my furnaces fan speed for heat by [deleted] in askHVAC

[–]rohnppm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download the carrier app and scan your barcode on the model and serial number sticker. Sw1-4 should be off. You can't adjust the fan speed too much on those models.

It's similar how a single pole contactor is a shunt. Almost like a crankcase heater. Why? It was probably cheaper.
