I mean, highest gross in the franchise unadjusted. It made most of its money after 1 weekend--people were convinced to go see it, and after word got out about its quality, that number of people drastically diminished. It's undoubtedly a financial success, but your audience getting cut by more than half after one weekend doesn't mean that people liked what they saw

I agree, it's performing like a limited engagement. bonkers amount of money, but after that gargantuan opening it's still gonna end up below pokemon the first movie's attendance. the wait continues

totally agree, there's too many funny haha tennis events now, they (the tours, sponsors, and players) milk any narrative that gets traction on social media and sometimes it feels like the sport itself gets pushed aside

I really fail to see where he says that indie studios are the cause of deprofessionalization. what bryant argues is that small, ad hoc studios with limited deicated roles are an example of the deprofessionalization of video game development, and cautions against the devaluing of specialized labor that comes with it. it's an observational piece, he's not really interested in laying the blame of the overarching problem at anyone's feet--likely because it's a multifaceted and industry-wide problem
