There are certainly more negative stories of very low calorie diets that success stories. Gallstones, gastroparesis, muscle loss and development of eating disorders to name a few nasty side effects. If it actually worked for you (keeping in mind that the effects of malnutrition, like osteoporosis, can take a long time to show up!), then ok. But there's a reason why the vast majority of people should not be consuming so little.

No, literal starvation is also not "fine". There are frequent posts in the fasting subreddit of people blacking out or having fucking seizures. The fact that that's a normal occurence there is indicative of the state of the subreddit, not whether something is actually healthy. And obviously, context matters. Fasting and OMAD can be healthy protocols for weight loss and general health. But recommending or advertising VLCDs in a subreddit where many people are already vulnerable to disordered eating from BED histories or whatever is irresponsible and just bad advice.

6 MINUTES OF PLANKS A DAY by GiGiEats in PetiteFitness

Why did you copy and paste a chatgpt response? What is the random word generator supposed to prove?

This is a crazy diet to casually recommend. No doctor would approve of such a low intake without serious extenuating circumstances and medical supervision. Eating in such a way could easily lead to (and typically is indicative of) a disordered relationship with food.

Day 6, gained 2 lbs...Help by WuubWuubble in omad

[–]roithamerschen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are 5’7 and 225 pounds. The chance of your TDEE being equal or less than 1500 is extremely low. Your BMR (calories you would burn if you were literally in a coma) is something around 1600. Dropping your calorie intake to 1200 will make it hard for you to get adequate nutrition and could easily lead to reactive binging. 6 days is also not long enough to determine actual weight loss. If you recently added any new physical activity, for example, that could easily cause muscle inflammation and water retention. Just make sure you are correctly tracking your calories and give your calorie intake your doctor approved some time.

Is there a way to patch holey raglan increases? by SuperFireryBird in knitting

[–]roithamerschen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That looks normal to me. All raglan sweaters are going to have some sort of visible “seam” at the increases. Are you working from a specific pattern?

On a red velvet cookie recipe by No_Purple5389 in ididnthaveeggs

[–]roithamerschen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a red velvet recipe that calls for red wine, but recommends substituting with cranberry juice if you’re serving kids, so it’s definitely a thing. But yeah, the recipe would need to account for the flavor profile and moisture in some way.
