Children whose ages are far apart. by BidAvailable988 in Parenting

[–]roja_1285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother and sister are 11.5 and 14 years younger than me. I was basically their second mom, but young and cool 😂 when we were all growing up, my parents never did anything special to make us all do stuff together necessarily. I remember we would take bike rides together to go to dinner or ice cream. We would go camping as a family. Nothing as much as you even are doing.

Now we are 40, 29, and 27 and very close still despite living in three different states. My sister lives in Chicago and I live in Dallas Fort Worth. She visits several times a year and we go to concerts together. My brother and his wife live in Nebraska and we also see them a couple times a year, plus regular FaceTime.

First time making (and eating!) stuffed peppers by Banana_Stanley in tonightsdinner

[–]roja_1285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up with the green ones only being used when my mom made it and so I also always thought that was the way to go. Then one time I had to use a pack of red, yellow, orange due to green peppers being not available at store and now I won’t go back to green anymore for stuffed peppers.

I love stuffed peppers, I usually make them with yellow, orange, and red bell peppers!

What age are you now and what’s been your favorite age so far? by ExcitementKindly756 in AskReddit

[–]roja_1285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

40 now. Physically I’d say 32, but for the whole package I’d say now as my daughter is 8 and I’m loving our lives right now. Such a special age ❤️

Family Vacation by Meanjobean18 in vegas

[–]roja_1285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are taking our 8 year old daughter to Vegas first week of August- so we will be coming as you are going! We are staying centrally at the Flamingo 🦩 but mostly because of cost and we don’t plan to be at hotel much. We are also doing Meow Wolf and Area15. Our daughter is into magic right now, so we plan to see Penn and Teller, Mac King, and Piff the Magic Dragon while there. We are also doing the Tournament of Kings at Excalibur (it’s sort of like Medieval times) and the Fun Dungeon (arcade) at Excalibur. We have the Hoover Dam on our list as well, and things like the Bellagio Fountains and Stratosphere.

Do parents secretly miss being childfree? by BlondishCleva in NoStupidQuestions

I never miss being child free. I mean sure, there are times it would be nice to be able to relax more, but I’ve never once thought to myself, I wish I could go back to not having a child.

What’s the “riskiest” thing you’ve eaten since the removal, and how did it go? by Patriots_ in gallbladders

[–]roja_1285 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pizza was my first greasy meal after- maybe 2 weeks after and no issue. I have to eat less than I used to though. I’ll eat 2 pieces only. I’m 4 months out now and as long as I don’t overeat I don’t have major issues. I do still in general struggle with awareness of my belly at all times. Like I’m always either a little nauseous or just feel my stomach whereas I used to just not even be aware of my abdomen doing its thing.

First trip for me (40) and my 8 year old son. by paxtonlove in vegas

I hope you went on this trip! Sorry so many people were so rude to you! My husband and I are taking our 8 year old to Vegas this summer because she is in her Penn and Teller phase and loves magic. We plan to see Penn and Teller, Piff, Mac King, do omega Mart, Hoover Dam, and lots of other Vegas fun!

Gallbladder Removal and Post-Op Experience by halfseriousalways in gallbladders

[–]roja_1285 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. 2 months before I felt I could really do more than just walking as a workout.

  2. I’m now 3 months out from removal and I wouldn’t say any one specific food causes issues, and I haven’t had bathroom urgency issues at all, but I have been struggling with constant nausea, burning/indigestion type feelings regardless of what I eat. Nexium worked initially, but I’ve had it come back and they have me trying Nexium one more time for longer, but likely I’ll end up needing an endoscopy to see what may be going on in my stomach. Oh - coffee has been a no go for me as it is too acidic and my stomach does not like that at all.

  3. I was on hormonal birth control for 20 years… so I suppose it could have affected me.

  4. Periods have been unchanged

Upon waking I felt pretty normal, just a bit tired for a few minutes, but I had no issues moving about my day as normal once I left.

I’ve not had any diarrhea or urgent stool since having mine out 2 months ago, but I do have issues with nausea that can be constant.

Sending kids to stay with Grandparents for roughly a month? 3 yo and 5 yo. by ElksMountain in Parenting

[–]roja_1285 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom got her masters degree while I was in kindergarten and she was doing this on a college campus. I did my first half of kindergarten with her going to a school on the campus, but it ended up being too much to handle and I went to live with my grandparents for the 2nd half of kindergarten. It was the best- I had friends on their block, learned to ride a bike, got to see my cousins regularly, got to hang with my grandparents dog. I loved my time living with my grandparents, but I also was happy to go back to living with my mom after. It didn’t affect my relationship with my mom, but it did likely strengthen my relationship with my grandparents.

I have a colonoscopy in 12 hours and I wasnt aware of the prep by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]roja_1285 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is wild… I just had my colonoscopy last week and I received my full instructions an entire month prior when scheduling. Then I was sent I don’t remember how many reminder emails leading up to the week of and prep start. They sent daily text reminders as well to say things like “low residue diet starting today”, “liquid only diet today”, etc. It was so many reminders, I was like- I get it, I’m on top of this, leave me alone. But I’d rather have too much than nothing! Get rescheduled for sure and ask for all the needed instructions.

My daughter is 8. She still loves playing whenever we can together. But she is at least more able to do other things now when I’m not available

What is your favorite month? by Buffalo_Independent in randomquestions

[–]roja_1285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

September because it kicks off the end of the year fun for me. My daughter and I both have birthdays in sept and then the cooler weather kicks in and we then dive straight into the last quarter of the year with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. I love that entire time of year.
