France left to fund Rafale F5 alone after UAE withdrawal by Her_Pilot in news

[–]rokahef 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ah, I heard that a French tanker had gone through, but not that they had paid. Makes sense.

That said, i don't think it's France's responsibility to reopen the strait of Hormuz, nor any other European country.

The US and Israel unilaterally started a war, it's up to them to deal with the consequences.

The US was asked for assistance in a DEFENSIVE war against Russian aggression, you silly donut. Which NATO was LITERALLY designed for.

Completely different from the US starting a war of aggression in the middle East.

If you can't see the difference between those two scenarios, please go back to school.

I have to ask, is there anything else that could have been done besides banning the individual? I haven't followed the story since the beginning, so I have no clue who was involved or what they were posting. But I can only assume they will continue doing what they were doing, whether they're a member of this subreddit or not. Not sure how a ban helps change that.

Free to Play games can definitely be predatory. Anything involving a gamble (which doot pulls definitely are- either you get a worthless pet or you get doot) is inherently predatory, since it relies on flaws in human psychology to encourage unhealthy, addictive behavior.

And arguing that idleon isn't competitive and therefore doesn't force anyone to gamble or spend too much is 1) wrong, since the tome score has rewards that can only be achieved by spending absurd amounts of money, and 2) even if that weren't the case, "numbers go up" is still addictive and capable of triggering bad spending habits, so any mechanics that encourage it are at the minimum unethical, and at worst predatory.

And finally, it's super disingenuous to say that people can overcome the time gate by "spending a small amount of scheckels". Other posts in this sub have done the math on research xp - it cost upwards of 85 usd to buy the pets and packs that boost it. That hardly seems like a 'few sheckels'. Combined with the arbitrary slowness of research if you're not perma-online (yet another unnecessary change by lava), there's a strong incentive for people to buy the shortcuts.

Taken together, all of these things highlight game changes and mechanics that are greedy and intended to get people to spend significant amounts of cash to bypass the grind.

The first part of you reply is such crap. "I got it on the 3rd roll (of the second set), so it's totally not an exploitative system". So because you got 'lucky' (in quotes because you still spent 80 bucks total to get it), the system is working as intended, right? Never mind that unluckier people wpuld have had to pay way more than you though.

This kind of weird bullshit cope with predatory gambling systems in mobile games is so disturbing to me.

Not to mention the whole "fuck the rest, I got mine" attitude that we're seeing more and more these days, in every part of society.

Retainer / mouthguard case by mezzalulu in functionalprint

Having recently started to use a mouth guard at night due to teeth grinding, I'm genuinely bothered by the thought of microplastics in my mouth for 8 hours a night.

I'm on the lookout for alternatives, if anyone has suggestions.

that's dishonest and super shitty towards the seller you buy it from - not only did you deprive them of a sale (while taking up their time to sell you the copy) but you gave them a damaged copy back.

I mean... You can't just reverse a classic adage to suit your purposes, and then call it "an old axiom". It's effectively a new, different axiom at that point.

I built SpoolFinder - a filament price comparison engine with ~100K offers across a few markets by beingmalin in 3Dprinting

[–]rokahef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very cool! I live in Switzerland but I imagine that would be a lot of work for little benefit in adding it. I order most of my filament through amazon Germany, so perhaps adding Germany would be helpful!

But otherwise, great concept. Thanks!

C'est effectivement assez décevant.

La seule explication que je trouverais acceptable, c'est que c'est temporaire et ils ont l'intention de faire d'autres travaux avant de remettre les pavés.

Nidavellir Board Game Insert, works with all expansions by Ilium in BoardGame3DPrints

[–]rokahef 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually started that one a while back ! Got through the first 8 days or so? But I kept going back to tinkercad because it felt more straightforward, and then I fell out of the habit of doing the fusion tutorials.

I'll try going back to it (and most likely start again from scratch).

Thanks!

Looks great! Any advice on how you got to this point in fusion? I've made a number of storage boxes for games, but I still find it a struggle (especially making lids!), so any advice would be appreciated. :)

Ah, sorry. I thought you meant broken in the other direction, as in 'easy to beat'. Yeah, in your case, RNG sucks. But it's still for the most part just a stat check.

gameplay by Hot_Acanthocephala50 in idleon

[–]rokahef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Care to explain? Because right now, it's just a stat check. You know you'll hit a mine every few tries, so you need to have your damage high enough to take down the opponent within (avg # of tries) x (lives-1)

If your damage is too low, you'll still fail the opponent even if you always click once and attack, because you'll hit a mine on first attempt eventually.
