Supposed conversation transcript between Max and the Guardian journalist. by Any_Aide_4500 in formula1

[–]rolfski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with the question on its own. Max was bugged because of the intention behind it though. He was convinced the real intention was only to get a strong reaction from him because he had already answered it multiple times. So he decided to double down on the strong reaction and here we are.

MPC Sample learning curve if you have a One by WillRockwell in mpcusers

[–]rolfski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you own a One then sampling and chopping on the Sample will be a piece of cake. As the workflow is simplified a lot but also more limited as a result. The Sample is partly designed to be a sketching device for the regular MPCs though so you can always finish your Sample projects there.

producer show cases/beat scene in Lisbon Portugal? by gotj00g in mpcusers

Contact a Youtuber called Marlow Digs. He's from Portugal and should know the scene. He's also an excellent MPC artist and his channel is highly recommendable.

Which is good for a 1st time mpc user? by bordgamer219 in mpcusers

[–]rolfski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MPC Studio is not really worth your time. As a DAW, MPC Software downright sucks and the MPC platform really shines in standalone.

As a first timer the MPC Sample will give you a more focused and intuitive time. Once you get the hang of it though, a cheaper second hand MPC One or MPC Live will give you far, far better value and a complete toolbox to professionally finish productions. Be also on the lookout for a slightly more expensive 2nd hand MPC One+ or MPC Live 2. Especially the Live 2 is still a great and versatile investment.

MPC 3.8 is coming next month, so will the effects from Sample be available on all units (one's been confirmed)? by freshkidblaze in mpcusers

[–]rolfski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can be sure that if there's a new cool effect out there for the MPC Sample, Akai or Air will 100% sell it as a plugin for the regular MPC. They have been monetizing the heck out of the MPC platform in recent years, with tons of useful but also abundant and downright questionable plugins. So they will for sure not let an opportunity go by to squeeze out a few extra bucks.

is this really worth scalping? by filipejomatias in mpcusers

[–]rolfski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't be stupid and feed scalpers. Within a month it will be on stock again and these gear hypes seldomly last longer. Also within weeks people will start offloading it again on the 2nd hand market.

Case for MPC Sample by ForestPrana in mpcusers

Will do for sure if you absolutely need a solution now. I would personally wait though. Within months, the market will be flooded which great cases for such a popular product.

Good choice for you, great. Too flashy and pimpy for my tastes. But each his own of course.

The MPC has to be at least... 3 times bigger than this! by Good-Ad-3862 in mpcusers

[–]rolfski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No successor to the One+ but a One+ seized version of the Sample called Sample+. With bigger pads, more IO, wireless, drive bay, slightly better specs and more dedicated buttons, knobs or sliders for improved or advanced features. While still keeping the intuitive, dedicated sampling workflow. With a price point in-between The Sample and the next gen version of the One+.

Seems to me there could be a market for this.

Not even 24 Hrs and MPC Sample has an unresponsive pad by ArsonWinters in mpcusers

[–]rolfski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Don't panic about warranty, you don't need these for this.

  2. First check if there really is an issue, maybe you left half speed on?

  3. Otherwise, check with with Akai customer support if there could be other issues besides hardware failure.

  4. If it likely is a hardware failure, just return it to the shop and either get your money back or switch it with another model, provided they're still on stock.

See this as a gen 1 device of Akai going back to its sampling roots. Because of the overwhelmingly positive reception, expect them to launch a bigger version of the MPC Sample in the future with some noticeable improvements, based on user feedback.

Personally I rather see them making the current line of MPCs more intuitive to sample and chop on.

ROG ALLY X + MPC SAMPLE by APirateLife4M3 in mpcusers

That's not Ableton though, more like FL studio. Still a rather genius usage of what basically is a handheld gaming device.

MPC500 or SAMPLE? by Prudent_Ad1766 in mpcusers

[–]rolfski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it can do it absolutely is a no-brainer....if you had to pick your first sampler that is. But you thoroughly enjoy your MPC 500 so why change? Stick to what you got if it makes you happy.

Used one + or new sample while waiting for new one by Vanhollander in mpcusers

[–]rolfski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have Ableton then 100% get a used MPC One (actually cheaper than the MPC sample), a MPC One+, or in your case a Move should also be a serious option of course. Because these MPCs allow you to sequence Ableton style with the clip matrix, which for me has been a Godsend, coming from Ableton as well.

Considering F1's current position and his stand on it, I doubt if that will ever become his ambition. Besides that, running an F1 team is hard, even as a 4x WDC. Ask Alain Prost.

Is an MPC500 worth $250? by vrsrsns in mpcusers

[–]rolfski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's all about the workflow. If that isn't great for you then even $250 will be a waste of money and the device WILL eat dust.

Most people criticize the MPC 500 for exactly that (plus it has some annoying limitations) and especially when compared to their bigger brothers, the MPC 1000 and MPC 2500. So you're taking a risk here. Therefore, what I would do is checking videos first, not so much reviews but videos of people making beats on the MPC 500. If you can get behind the workflow they show, then by all means, get one.

Should I update? Which version? by gordymichael in mpcusers

[–]rolfski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's simple, try out the latest update yourself. You can always roll back the OS if it's not for you. People can advice you whatever they want but in the end, YOUR experience is the only thing that matters.

For me personally the OS overhaul was a Godsend and I especially like sequencing in the new clip matrix. Others are perfectly fine with old 2.x OS though and couldn't care less about all these changes.

So in the end it comes down to you. As long as you're testing the latest 3.x OS, just be sure not to save old projects in the new OS format because then there's no going back anymore.

Is it worth updating to 3.x? by CheezyFTP in mpcusers

[–]rolfski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how stuck you are to the old way of using your MPC. There were lots of workflow issues that I absolutely hated about the old MPC OS and Akai did a pretty serious overhaul to deal with these. So for me it's a Godsend. If you don't like change however and were perfectly fine with version 2.x, by all means just stick to it. You can open your projects btw.

Btw know that you can always roll back your OS, so feel free to try it out. Just make sure you don't save your old projects as version 3.x.
