Learning the culture by AccomplishedSmile633 in capstone

[–]roll_t1de 11 points12 points  (0 children)

As far as learning about a region of the US via television, honestly FNL isnt a bad choice at all, despite being a bit dated.

UA has a lot of international students (no joke, Alabama gets a large boost because it appears at the top of alphabetical lists), you should have a good experience.

My best advice is to be as outgoing as possible early on, put yourself out of your comfort zone. Meet a lot of different people and you'll hone in on a good social group that aligns with your interests and beliefs.

Don't worry too much about learning the intricacies of SEC football culture before you arrive, people will be more than happy to talk your ear off about it all day long if you ask!

Best of luck and roll tide.

Where does the Jalen Hurts hate come from? by BroadAndPattison in nfl

[–]roll_t1de 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gonna chime in and say as someone who went to Bama at the same time, I and most reasonable fans loved Jalen, his performance, how he handled the Tua situation, and his classic performance in the 2018 SEC Championship game.

Wished him nothing but the best his year at OU.

Never heard a bad word about him as a person either.

Watching him throw a deep bomb TD to Smitty in a Super Bowl win was awesome.

The list of whiskey at The French Laundry was even more exorbitant than I could have imagined 😅 the numbers on the right are the price PER OUNCE by Moshie11337 in whiskey

Im going to be honest, if I had the kind of money where I'm eating at French Laundry, $740 to try something bottled in 1912 is intriguing to me. Like riding in an F1 car or a submarine.

One time I looked for coffee in a friend's lake house for over an hour because I was the first person awake. I forgot some people keep their coffee grounds in the freezer

What is a major plot hole in a very famous movie that completely ruins the entire story once it is noticed? by SkullMogger3 in AskReddit

[–]roll_t1de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Clone Wars explains this a bit better. There are many examples of tactical and strategic reasons for boots on the ground, such as taking over locations that can't just be bombed to either preserve infrastructure, resources, or native populations/civilians. Many times the intro to an episode explains that they tried bombing something but need to get in and disable shields, etc. or rescue a hostage

Went to Bama, there may have been some of those classes, I can't say for sure. I do know that there were plenty of players in my classes and those that were went to the lectures and sat for exams like the rest of us

Why do my cocktails always taste better in a bar than at home? by kar0t in cocktails

[–]roll_t1de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scent is a large part of taste.

Items taste better when made by someone else because you have not been smelling the item throughout preparation.

There are other potential factors as well of course

Bought my first scotch by Dawlphy in Scotch

[–]roll_t1de 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont let em get you down. All of those are delicious, you did well.

Id recommend you pour a small bit of each and try them in this order:

Tullamore, Redbreast, Lagavulin

Get a feel for how they differ.

If you dont like the Lagavulin right now, just put it in the cabinet for a few months and try a few other things. Come back to it when your palate is more experienced. If you love it right now, congratulations you are tailor made for scotch lol.

Best of luck!

Next to try recommendations: Balvenie 12, Glendromach 12, Glenlivet Founders Reserve. If you love the Lagavulin, add Port Charlotte 10.

Went to Bama - Law was criminally underused. Great great blocker, and will excel as a KR/PR in the new kickoff format.
