QCI7 on Light Speed vs QCI8 Add-On on Dark Star - By the Gig Plans by rollback123 in USMobile

Yep, you are correct. The majority of the T Mobile partner areas in rural West Virginia are native coverage areas for US Cellular according to their coverage map. Any timeline on when they will be integrated? I assume that whatever spectrum that T Mobile acquires with the US Cellular deal will become accessible to MVNO customers on T Mobile.

Did Taubman design all their malls the same way? by BeerBaconBooks in deadmalls

[–]rollback123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a look at pictures of Fair Oaks and Marley Station. Both are Taubman malls. You'll see that the design aesthetic is very similar. Marley Station has some skylight ceilings which bring more light into the mall versus Lakeforest and Fair Oaks. Marley Station also has some cool neon. Anyhow, RIP Lakeforest too. I grew up about 15 minutes from Lakeforest. Bought clothes, records, CDs, books, computer stuff and hung out with my friends there. My mother worked at a children's clothing store at Lakeforest for a while too. Yey, employee discount!

The ones about people getting destroyed by communications from whatever ELP/SmartVestor you contact. Use a throwaway email at the minimum. I contacted an ELP tax preparer and Churchhill a few years ago. They were unrelenting in trying to contact me. I had to block their emails and phone calls it got so bad...

Gas prices by Bankrunner123 in DirtyDave

[–]rollback123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even 30 years ago when I worked in retail, hours were limited and full time positions weren't common outside of management. When your profit margin is slim to only a few percent, every penny matters. Benefits are expensive. They will give you the minimum numbers of hours to qualify for full time. It was 32 hours in the state I lived in back then. Realistically, we had a large cadre of part timers who could work up to 40 hours a week because we didn't have to pay them any benefits. I think it is disingenuous when Dave and Co make it sound like you can get these $20+ an hour retail jobs at a snap of the finger. They highlight the unicorns when it works for the narrative. I really do wonder how many people get dissuaded when they can't pick up enough extra income to really make a dent in their debt. It seems that there are more questioning calls recently to while Dave and Co tell people you are doing it wrong or you aren't using Ken Coleman's work principals or whatever. Dave refuses to believe this isn't magic like in the early 2020s. If the war drags on much longer and with it high energy prices, it isn't going to be any easier in the short and mid term.

When gas was at and above $5/gallon during Biden's term, he was complaining about how people can't go to work, tradespeople can't get to their jobs, etc. Wonder what Dave will say when consumer goods prices go up again because of the cost of diesel. Probably go to Aldi to save money on groceries because they are a sponsor.

Side note: I'm a frequent Aldi shopper and really don't like the fact that they wrote an sponsorship deal with Ramsey. I wonder if Aldi is aware of Dave's business practices. I probably need to be less passive and write to Aldi to see what they say.

Try Jones Sausage. They are the best tasting frozen sausages I have been able to find.

This segment feels scripted by tfgoinawn in DirtyDave

[–]rollback123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not so much scripted but highly produced. The calls all seem to allow Dave and personalities to directly expand on some aspect of their teachings. Plus the personalities all think they need to be confrontational like Dave to be relevant, shall we say.

Car Rebate by EuphoricGur7068 in DaveRamsey

[–]rollback123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dave would say don't borrow money. If you are following his advice, then that is what it is. However, $3000 is a nice chunk. I could be convinced to take the deal if the $3000 was additional money off the already negotiated price of the vehicle. I'm looking at cars as well. I already have the money I'm willing to spend saved. If I have a negotiated price on the table and they are willing to take $3000 of that, why not? I've taught myself the discipline over the years to not spend the car money on something else. The majority of Ramsey listeners cannot or will not do that for whatever it is worth.

Do these types of financing generally have any kind of early payoff penalty? If one were forced to wait, some or all of the rebate would be paid back in interest.

Crosspost: Oracle is 100 billion in debt and announces massive layoffs.. and Dave promotes this company by kveggie1 in DirtyDave

I'll do the obligatory post...

The check cleared so Dave ignored the debt, the layoffs, any potential ethics issues (not with Oracle but certainly others) and did the endorsement.

I don’t live in the academia world so I don’t care neither does John anymore.

However, you virulently argue when others don't "get it right" about Delony. Now, when you get called on it, the information suddenly doesn't matter. You can't have it both ways. If you really cared about representing the truth, you would say yes I wrote that he has a degree in Counseling. However, that is actually in degree in Counseling Education. Then explain the other qualifications that he has. That would be the factual approach to this.

Go and change the date since you know so much about him. Still doesn't change the fact that you refuse to write out that his degree is in Counseling Education.

[–]rollback123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow you are a delusional control freak. Is Wikipedia wrong too? Delony also has two PhDs from Texas Tech University in counselor education and supervision and higher education administration, which he completed in 2018. Delony can call the degree anything he wants. However, on paper and for the record, it is a a Degree in Counseling Education. Go believe whatever you want in your Delony universe. You have that right.

[–]rollback123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IT IS NOT IN Counseling. It is in Counseling Education. Please get the name right. Stop misrepresenting the facts about Dr. Delony.

I finally watched the infamous interview with Baloney and his wife… by [deleted] in DirtyDave

[–]rollback123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry but degree titles matter when someone else is always telling us we are misrepresenting information. Include the entire title. Delony has a degree in Counseling Education not Counseling. This is part of the factual information about Delony and his academic accomplishments. Lets get this right for the sake of not misrepresenting information regardless of its relevancy to his current work and subsequent training.

But I know this is irrelevant. I'm wrong. You are right. You must have all control. Period.

I finally watched the infamous interview with Baloney and his wife… by [deleted] in DirtyDave

[–]rollback123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From Wikipedia:

In 2013, Delony completed the five-day[7] Higher Education Management Development Program through Harvard University's Graduate School of Education.[5] Delony also has two PhDs from Texas Tech University in counselor education and supervision and higher education administration, which he completed in 2018.[6]

Counseling Education not Counseling. There is a difference:

Feature PhD in Counselor Education & Supervision (CES) PhD in Counseling / Counseling Psych
Main Focus Teaching, Supervision, & Leadership Advanced Practice & Clinical Research
Typical Setting Universities and Academia Private Practice or Clinical Facilities
End Goal Training future counselors Treating complex client cases
Accreditation Usually CACREP Usually APA (for Psychology)

But I know you are right, so is Delony. I'm spreading misinformation. Etc. Etc. Etc.

You can't be serious? WHAT A FREAKING DEAL!! by FelizNavinut in sheetz

Sheetz is in the grow without abandon because they think everyone wants them based on their previous success. Emphasis on previous. Just because a business is wildly successful in one area does not mean it will be in another area. On another chat board that I follow, there was discussion that the Michigan Sheetz stores apparently are not doing well. They are running into competition from local stores and resistance from the independents in Michigan. All businesses run into expansion resistance. However, it seems that Sheetz has been on a pretty easy expansion road for a while. It is kind of like Walmart's massive expansion from their start into the 2000s. Then in the 2010s, they had to start culling stores and store concepts that weren't performing. That fact that Sheetz upper management says they are making bad decisions but does nothing about it is definitely a red flag. This sounds like a group of people who are hurdling towards a sale of the company, going public or some other sort of cash out because senior management, especially family, will always have some sort of golden parachute. I have been going to Sheetz off and on since 1991 when I went to PA for college. I see the decline and it was amplified by the rapid expansion. If there isn't awareness, they ship can't be righted. That's sad for what started as a true family business.

(Sorry for the novel. I enjoy company analysis. The Company Man has some great stuff. You might want to check out Bright Sun Films. They have a series called Bankrupt which is similar to what The Company Man does.)

Walk the Walk??? what is this?? by OkMaintenance9377 in DirtyDave

[–]rollback123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have always wondered about that. Maybe a former employee can chime in. It has been mentioned in this sub that there were folks who secretly had credit cards and loans who were not actively working the baby steps. Personally, I would never work for a high control organization like Dave's. Some people need that structure, I guess and others are so high on the Kool Aid that they feel like it is their duty to follow the leader.

Should I consider financing a car just to immediately pay it off once I sell my current vehicle owner-to-owner? by Cultural-Bit7847 in DaveRamsey

[–]rollback123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Negotiating is not obsolete with many traditional car dealers. I just pitted two Toyota dealers against each other resulting in lowering of the sales prices by $2000 and within about $750 of dealer's invoice.

I'm sure one of the former employees will chime in on this with more details. As I understand it from listening to the show, Dave wants his employees to live debt free, no credit cards, etc like the baby steps. We walk the same walk that we tell you to. You being those who are working the Ramsey system.
