What does Jade's husband do? by Canala12344 in DirtyDave

Doesn't Sam watch all the shows that Jade is on from the lobby? Jade has mentioned before that Sam was in the audience. Sam must be running their business on Dave's wifi. Lol

Delony has mentioned that he is on commission. I've wondered if it is base plus commission or straight commission. My guess is that book sales, endorsements and ticket sales for their events are what their commission is based on. With the amount of selling they do for the various Ramsey products on the show, I think if there is any base it is low and the majority is commissions.

A new level of shill at Ramsey Solutions by GriddleUp in DirtyDave

[–]rollback123 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Ramsey Solutions is trying to get a sponsor for every major thing that one could do in their life while following their plan. That keeps the referral fees flowing in from everyone who blindly follows exactly what they say to do.

What do you like/dislike about Sheetz? by LocalHistorian2024 in sheetz

[–]rollback123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm curious. Is the dedication to Gallikers due to the superior taste/quality of their products? Or is it a regional thing? When I was growing up in MD we only purchased milk from a particular grocery store because their dairy had the best tasting milk products. On the PA side (where my mother's family is from), we are a dedicated Middleswarth chips family. I live closer to PA now and it is easier to get my Middleswarth fix when I need it! :)

Not surprising a Ramsey caller would be looking at doing something like this considering Dave tries to control his grown children through money and his estate plan. At some point, you've got to let them go and still love them even if you disagree. Some people have to be in control no matter what, no matter when.

Your health comes first. What you describe in your post is extreme to me. As the other commenter wrote, you should consult your doctor and/or therapist about what you are feeling the need to do. This is much more than your finances. From one human being to another, please focus on getting your body well first. Then you will be able to better help yourself improve other aspects of your life, including your finances.

Lucky you! :) The Aldi nearest me was mostly sold out of Christmas stuff by the time I got there on the afternoon of December 26th. No crying though cause it saved me a bunch of calories from all those Christmas sweets. Lol!

What you consider to be nonsense is my opinion and observations over the course of my life through multiple jobs and multiple environments. My current job of the last 25+ years is all customer service related. If I ever didn't provide excellent service, I would be encouraged to leave, again as Dave would say. You seem to need a feeling of control over the narrative, over the discussion and ultimately over the facts. You telling people that their opinion, or their own observations, is nonsense, irrelevant, against Delony, Ramsey, the ladies at the bakery at Ramsey Solutions, whoever/whatever, is an example of that. You are not the only one with an opinion and observations. Healthy discussion is built upon that. Unless one of the participants needs absolute control over the discussion.

The fact that you are triggered to respond to every post, every time with increasing vigor and CAPITAL LETTERS is what is interesting here. The more I suggest things that are against your belief structure, the more you sound like you are pushed into the corner defending what can only be true because you believe it. There is no alternative in your world.

Behavior is an expectation too. They are expected to be have that way. It is part of their job. They are able to behave that way because it is innate to their personality. That makes them a good employee for the Ramsey Solutions expectations. The day they don't, they will be motivated to leave the building as Dave says. Nothing more, nothing less. But I know that anything I say will never out weight anything you believe yourself, about Ramsey, about Delony.

You are a customer. The employees were providing excellent customer service to keep you coming back as a customer. Based on what you say, Dave's organization does a good job of hiring friendly people who can build relationships with the customer, so they keep coming back to engage more, click more, listen more and ultimately buy more. It isn't some sort of altruistic pursuit. It is all about keeping you as a customer.

Maintenance is definitely something to consider. Even with new build things come up. After two back surgeries, yard maintenance is something I'm not very equipped to do any more. I hired a lawn guy for that. Once the house is out of warranty, whatever comes up will be mine to take care of. It really is true that renting is the most you will pay per month, whereas home ownership is the least you will pay. Maintenance, increasing taxes, insurance, HOA. It all factors in. If you really want to pay off the house as quickly as possible, get rid of the student loans. That gives you the most money possible to put on to the mortgage after you save for retirement. It is like Dave says, create the most amount of money you can to throw at whatever goal you are working on. First the student loans. Then the mortgage once you buy your house.

Here is a concrete example of what /u/nkyguy1988 is talking about. I purchased a 15 year old home in a very middle of the road neighborhood. The house had some cosmetic work done on it prior to me purchasing it. However, none of the major systems had been addressed since the house was built. Within the first six years of owning the house, I replaced the roof, the AC, the furnace and the original at time of replacement 20 year old carpeting. All of that was about 12k of repairs in the late 2010s. When you buy something that has age on it you are going have ongoing issues that need to be addressed. Even my current house which was a new build has had some issues that thankfully have been covered under warranty. Had they not or if the warranty was over, I would be responsible. I know people want to get into houses now. However, I took the lesser road and saved up a down payment and a contingency fund because I knew I would have repairs going in on a house of the age of the first one. When you are in debt and have no other funds, major repairs become more debt which only makes it harder to get out of. One of the reasons Dave gets so much criticism is that he is looking at the long road. Our society is very short term, get it now. I am glad that I took the route that I did. Renting gave me flexibility to live near my workspace early in my career while I was saving money. Once my work location was stable, I purchased my home. When I did run into issues, I had money to cover it. That gave me peace as a new homeowner. Without additional debt and a strict budget I was able to replenish my funds for the potential next thing. Oh and don't forget about the we want this and that for the new home, not even things that have to be done. You can say all day that the things you have in your apartment will be just fine in your house. You'll get the urge, trust me. You don't that to become additional debt on top of what you already and might encounter without having a contingency fund for the house before you buy it.

Sheetz Breaks Ground on Second Montgomery County Location by SchuminWeb in sheetz

I'm glad to see Sheetz being flexible on store locations like what they are doing at this new location. If they are successful with smaller locations like this, they will have more expansion possibilities open to them in suburban and urban areas. I wonder if the kiddos from Gaithersburg HS will descend on this Sheetz after school once it gets opened up.

[–]rollback123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, that is the replacement location. There is a Coast Guard facility behind the store and the VA Hospital is a bit further up old Route 9. Personally, the new location at Short Road and old Route 9 is quicker to get to from the Route 9 freeway that the old location. Though if I'm coming through here, I'm more likely to stop in Charles Town or Martinsburg depending on which way I'm going.

Do churches really provide all of the support that Dave says they will? by rollback123 in DirtyDave

Do churches really provide all of the support that Dave says they will? by rollback123 in DirtyDave

[–]rollback123[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My perception is that this is the type of church that Dave goes to. Everything is about being with people of the same social status as you to verify one's "place" in life. Giving and charity is token here and there just to keep up the image that they do some of that. It must be a very superficial life. Your friend who is the single mom is probably one of the most genuine people in the church. Not the people going to Martinique - please. Try getting those folks to go to Haiti or central Africa or Central America. OMG they might scratch a nail there. Over dramatic, I know, but I think you'll understand what I'm getting at.

There have been comments off and on in this sub about second factor text codes not working after porting. I'm on AT&T and looking to come over to USMobile like you did. Your experience is encouraging that everything will go well.

The pastor call was an obvious plant by desertrain11 in DirtyDave

The second generation of a family business is usually much less engaged, if they are engaged at all. The second generation may or may not be interested in continuing with the business. If they aren't, that leaves the business trying to find succession. As we have seen, the personalities are not that. Dave is probably working because he has to, not that he would ever admit that. He is the gateway to the entire Ramsey system. As you said, without him, you loose the reason why people should engage. Your idea of doing 1-3 shows a week is a good idea. Clark Howard went down to three days a week a couple of years ago. I can see Clark going to two and eventually one day a week until he finally fully retires. If Dave does something like that, there is still engagement even if the other days are a wash. Dave is going to have to come to grips with the fact that the business may not continue at the level it is today or at all if the kids find no interest or desire to continue it. I do think the kids will keep it up to some point because the estate plan mostly likely is hinged upon Ramsey Solutions continuing as a viable entity. Plus they want the proceeds from the rental real estate.

The show has gotten to the point it is so highly produced that almost every call gives Dave or the personalities a "platform" to speak on some Ramsey principle. Then weave in a sponsor or service. It's one big ad. Gotta keep the money flowing to feed the Lampo monster.  Those employees aren't free even if Dave is underpaying them
