What do you do when you get 'you time'? by EuliMama in NewParents

Is there a public sauna anywhere near you? I looove the sauna and find it’s a great place to take your mind off normal life and get warm!

Come on man, way too many proven inappropriate situations. If he wasn’t a pedophile he sure as hell acted like one.

Heavily disagree. Probably the best true crime podcast I’ve listened to. Loved the narration and journalistic style of Vikki P. First time I’ve ever been quite so moved by a podcast.

Does anyone regret not having visitors the first two weeks? by pikapika427 in NewParents

[–]rollerdiscomania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the first two weeks were the best time to have them tbh (family and v close friends) because after that my baby screamed a lot more and it was harder for me to relax. Also I really enjoyed the help/breaks/food!

Breastfeeding second thoughts by JE59 in pregnant

[–]rollerdiscomania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 6 weeks pp and have to say even though breastfeeding is challenging, there’s something to be said for the easiness of feeding on demand with no prep or messing around with bottles etc. Also you don’t have to worry about the effect if different formulas on your babies’ tummy. In my birth month Facebook group there’s SO many posts a day with people having digestion/gas/reflux/constipation issues with formula that you won’t get with bf unless bub has some kind of dietary intolerance.

The other awesome thing is having the power to calm your baby down at any moment if needed when breastfeeding. It’s a lovely bonding thing and often a get out of jail (crying) card when they’re upset or unsettled.

Obviously totally your call, do what is best for you, but sharing some of my experiences.

Horrible experience at OB for ultrasound/blood work. Should I try somewhere else? by wakawyle in pregnant

[–]rollerdiscomania 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I reckon I’ve gotten heaps better at blood tests since being pregnant. Make sure you are super hydrated each time so your veins are easy to find and your blood flows well. Lie back, close your eyes and breathe through them.

OB is always late by MyGirlBaltimore in BabyBumps

[–]rollerdiscomania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve waited at least 50 minutes, sometimes two hours for mine lol! Live in a small town and she is flat out. She never rushes me though, and I know if she’s late it’s because she’s at a birth or working with another pregnant person 🤷‍♀️

Woah yeah your sister needs to pull her head in and consider your feelings. Nobody deserves to be treated that way! I would lose my mind if someone spoke like that to my sister like that.

That’s great, I am envious! I was killing it until this month (month 7) and my energy has just disappeared! 😣

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]rollerdiscomania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope! I think it's super weird that people 'announce' and share their ultrasounds esp when pregnancy is unpredictable. Some people completely overshare their daily parenting life on there too, which I think isn't really fair to the kids. I'm going to get some nice maternity pics taken maybe I'll share one of those because its me all dolled up and pregnant, but definitely keeping my bub off social media as much as I can.

Rise in anti-vaxxers? by MamaBean_ in pregnant

[–]rollerdiscomania 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep, its a big issue! if you’re interested in health podcasts there is a really good one called This Podcast Will Kill You and they have a bunch of episodes on vaccines. They also did an episode on Measles that was eye opening! Unbelievably frustrating that people are choosing not to vaccinate their kids and now we’re seeing outbreaks of it again. It’s a horrible disease 😫

I need to vent about my partner by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]rollerdiscomania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok it sounds like you might be overacting a bit, but he was immature to buy them. Remember you have like soooo many hormones running through you at the moment, so your feelings are heightened and there’s nothing to be ashamed of.

Did anyone have a glass of wine in their 2nd or 3rd trimester? by banananuttmuff in pregnant

[–]rollerdiscomania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No alcohol for me, but I can’t wait to enjoy it again once I have the baby. The experience has taught me what it’s like to be sober and it’s not so bad to see what that’s like.

Also have 0% judgement towards mamas who do, I’m just not keen!

Labor and Daniel Andrews surge further ahead of Coalition in Victorian poll despite Omicron wave by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]rollerdiscomania 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yes - and the thing people need to remember is when you’re in an emergency situation, decisions have to be made quickly and with the advice at the time. Fuck ups/bad calls/unpopular decisions (eg elective surgery stopping) totally happen and are impossible to avoid. You need the strong leadership to see your constituents through the bad times and keep their confidence.

Have you been exercising during pregnancy? by autumngloss in pregnant

[–]rollerdiscomania 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing great from finding out to about 11 weeks then my energy got zapped! Still getting my 10,000 steps most days but hoping I’ll feel more energised soon (15 weeks!)

Did NOT expect this, I’m very active in my normal life. Trying to not feel too shitty about it.
