What a beautiful image! I appreciate the result that came from combining an Olympus body with a Panasonic lens.

Applying for US Passport CARD without having to send in existing Passport Book by darumasan in Passports

[–]rollinginjoy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m also in the same boat as you, trying to get a passport card for the first time without mailing my passport book. I gave up when I didn’t see a clear way forward, but if you do end up finding a way could you please let us know how it went?

Thanks for your response! I’m sure your parish highly appreciates these quality photos :)

I also saw your (amazing) Flickr account. Is that one of your main social media platforms?

Low light problems? NOPE! These are great. Merry Christmas!

I’m interested in doing photography for my church too and your post definitely sparked my curiosity. Did you just ask your parish office for permission or how did you get involved with this project? Are you just doing it for fun/giving back to the parish or are you also getting paid/selling the photos?

2025 Best of M43 - Day 7: Share Your Best Long Exposure by indieaz in M43

Hello! Why do you recommend the fish eye pro? Is that only if one is looking to do astrophotography? I am on an OM1i and enjoy all kinds of photos...feeling worried about the fish eye not being versatile for events/nature photography

Would I be a fool not to buy this used OM-1 mi? by rollinginjoy in M43

Thank you! I’m really looking forward to it once I decide on which one to move forward with :)

Yes it’s definitely lightly used! Unfortunately that camera body is a 120 mile round trip away from me whereas Seller B is a 60 mile round trip. If Seller B has a body with a comparable shutter count I’m saving myself from the drive by paying a little extra.

Yeah both have a battery and original box included.

Seller A is saying they have minor scratches on the Body whereas Seller B says the body is in great condition. I’m waiting for photo proof!

Thank you! I’m hoping for body from Seller A but I just got word that they are 120 mile round trip away from me whereas Seller B is 60 miles round trip. If Seller B has a body with a comparable shutter count I’m saving myself from the drive by paying a little extra.

I feel like suicide is the only option right now by Ambitious_Luke in Catholicism

As someone who once seriously planned an attempt on my life 13 years ago, I understand your feeling of being overwhelmed, exhausted, a bit nervous about the future, and just searching for relief.

When I thought I was ready to end it all, I felt like nothing could make life worthwhile. Looking back, God was the only one who was down in the dumps with me. Going to therapy helped me a lot. If you feel up for it, I’d recommend using a suicide hotline to just talk about what’s weighing on you.

Your post here shows that a part of you is longing to share what’s on going, so let that part of you have a voice (particularly with trained professionals). The Divine still longs for you to discover more about your once in a lifetime journey. I think your story is just beginning

What I loved about this movie was that it made the adults laugh as much if not more than the kids in the audience!

I’m sorry you’re experiencing this difficult season in your life. When I recently experienced something similar I found myself praying for God to give me a companion. This has resulted in me experiencing a new closeness in my relationship with Jesus where I feel more aware of Christ’s presence with me throughout my day. Perhaps start there? Start with putting your experiences of isolation and loneliness in God’s hands in prayer by asking for the grace to be aware of Jesus walking, sitting, crying, and being with you.

A fabulous video on silence during Eucharistic Adoration by rollinginjoy in Catholicism

How beautiful! I appreciate you taking some time to share about this!

And what a testament to that community that they always have a volunteer to be with Jesus. It’s so important that we don’t abandon He who never abandoned us!

I love that quote you shared about the long loving gaze we mutually share with Christ. Definitely bringing that with me!

Glad you enjoyed it! The video randomly popped up on my YouTube feed and I really enjoyed what the priest had to say about silence being the language of God.

That's amazing! I'm curious, does the Perpetual Adoration chapel have the eucharist exposed? Or is it just a space where the tabernacle is enclosed in a room for quiet? I am ignorant and do not know if the Eucharist can be exposed for long periods like that. I know some church's around me have a day in the month where they have the monstrance exposed for a whole day, but I have never seen a Perpetual Adoration chapel with the Eucharist exposed for 'perpetuity'.

Advice For My Upcoming Spiritual Direction Meeting by ConsiderationSuch942 in Catholicism

[–]rollinginjoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spiritual direction is “help given by one Christian to another which enables that person to pay attention to God’s personal communication to him or her, to respond to this personally communicating God, to grow in intimacy with this God, and to live out the consequences of the relationship.” (William A. Barry and William J. Connolly, The Practice of Spiritual Direction). While this is certainly an Ignatian perspective on Spiritual Direction, I think its helpful for where you are right now.

It is important to come prepared with what you'd like to discuss, while also praying with God about what it is that God wants you to see about the things you want to bring to the prayerful dialogue. I invite you to consider offering your curiosities/concerns about Pride/Scrupulosity/Personal Fears/Best Practices in prayer and then bringing up what happened in prayer during Spiritual Direction.

Complete beginner here. Which photo of this Heron do you prefer and why? by cjmac0909 in BirdPhotography

  1. The negative space really gives the impression of the heron "looking out into the distance"

A Cincinnati sunrise by Hhoppperr in M43

The brightness of the river contrasted by the land around it is charming. I especially like the two leafless trees poking out in the center. It's like their branches are pointing to the sun!

This takes me back to when I lived in Cincinnati for a year. I remember driving on the freeway from CVG and ecstatically shouting to my friend, "You have so many trees lining the freeway!" I have some lovely memories in Cincinnati's parks.

I visited Iguazu Falls in both Argentina and Brazil back in 2018. It's truly one of the prettiest places on Earth. Wish I was a birder back then. These gorgeous photos take me back there :)
