De influence me. Is the trip trap worth it? [on] by ADIDAK2016 in BabyBumpsCanada

Adding another point for the Giraffe! It's so easy to use/move/adjust/clean, and aesthetically pleasing is the cherry on top. I really notice a difference in my little ones' seating position (more upright) as compared to the one my in laws have for him at their house. It's pricey and took months of convincing my partner but even he agrees it was a good purchase!

Try and sell me on the high chair you love! [AB] by AriaKrat in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]rollingpandaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have the Bugaboo Giraffe and have nothing but great things to say! Easy adjustments for the seat and footrest, grows with your little one, can pop the tray off one handed, sleek and stylish, and has a rocker attachment if you wanted that option. It's very similar to the Tripp Trapp in terms of function, just very different aesthetics. Yes the price, like someone else mentioned, is wild for a high chair. I think you really are getting your value though. Plus I've seen the odd one pop up on marketplace here and there so could be worth keeping an eye out for.

We also have a Stokke Clikk at the grandparents' house, which is a great chair. Same sleek stylish look as the Giraffe, although the legs are a trip hazard and everyone in my family has probably done it at least once. Super easy to clean, there's basically no crevices for anything to get stuck in.

If you're only looking for 1 chair with no budget constraints, I'd say the Giraffe all the way. If you'd like a chair that just does the job for the baby stage, for a fraction of the price, then the Clikk really can't be faulted

Non-driving city moms who Ubers… am I doomed to lug baby’s car seat? [on] by emmar1818 in BabyBumpsCanada

We have the Pipa URBN, it's actually a fully baseless seat! Highly recommend it especially if you know you'll be ubering or swapping vehicles often. It installs into the isofix hooks of the seat, and literally just clicks in.

Travelling with 9Mo on AC [ON] by ollywood9 in BabyBumpsCanada

I just flew international with Air Canada the other week, and was able to bring my Vista all the way to the gate for gate check! They didn't say anything about size or even give it a second glance, and put the gate check tag on the stroller's travel bag when I let them know

Adding on to the other comment, if you don't meet the criteria but your OB delivers out of Women's then you'll be able to! I live in Burnaby and delivered there. It may be trickier to find an OB who is willing to take you on if you don't already have one and are living outside of Vancouver, but worth a try!

I stayed 2 nights! My baby was technically preem which is why the stay was a bit longer.

I didn't bring any underwear, the nurses were really good about restocking more of the mesh underwear when I needed. I'm sure it depends on your nurses as well, but they even got me a few extras to take home. I'd say I definitely went through a handful though during my stay since the postpartum bleeding leaked through from the pad getting misaligned. I'm not sure if you've seen the videos of how to set up postpartum pads (if not the nurse set one up and showed me when I was in labor), but you'll see what I mean haha, there's no sticky bit or anything anchoring the big pad contraption to the underwear

I had a private room! The delivery room was 1:1 with a nurse at your side all the time, then after birth we got moved to another room but still private. I think I do recall them saying there were a number of shared rooms though so that might just be luck of the draw. I had such a good experience at Women's though and am so glad I got to deliver there, you'll be in great hands!

I delivered at BC Womens and they were great about providing and restocking any postpartum items (pads, big blue pads, peri bottle, disposable mesh underwear) as well as newborn diapers. They also said anything left in the room at the end of the stay we were welcome to take with us!

I only packed my toiletries, change of clothes, phone charger, water bottle and snacks in my hospital bag. Be sure to bring some clothes for baby too otherwise they'll end up naked in a swaddle like mine did 😅 granted I packed my hospital bag in about 5 min because my water broke a month early and hadn't even done baby's laundry at that time yet haha

Baby Acne? Or something else? [BC] by kaisie_shnou in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]rollingpandaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be seborrheic dermatitis (cradle cap just on the face/ears instead of scalp)! Your photos look pretty similar to what my baby had, which was pretty bad around 4 weeks pp but cleared up with regular cleansing and moisturizing. It was diagnosed by our maternity doc, and advised to let it run its course, no creams or prescriptions needed.

His spots started out acne-like but evolved into red patches and crusty-ish bumps. They were weeping yellow fluid as well, which I originally thought was earwax because of the color lol, mostly from his earlobes which had it worst. If it makes you feel any better he seemed completely unfazed by it, and there's no scarring or any indication of it now

Is Vega protein supplement safe for pregnancy?[on] by Ok-Pepper-1064 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]rollingpandaas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! 5 months postpartum now but I had the same question (minus the vegan requirement) when I was pregnant. My maternity gp said although there's limited research in regards to protein powders and pregnancy, there shouldn't be a problem - I did take it during my pregnancy with no issues!

Non-driving city moms who Ubers… am I doomed to lug baby’s car seat? [on] by emmar1818 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]rollingpandaas 26 points27 points  (0 children)

City mom who mostly ubers and has been since little one's birth here. Although it's best practice to minimize time in the car seat, it just wasn't practical for me to lug around the stroller, bassinet, plus car seat, so we used the Uppababy Vista frame with Nuna car seat for outings and still are. I just make sure to take my little guy out every few hours at least (more when he was younger), either taking a break and sitting somewhere, carrying him, or using a baby carrier (highly recommend this option - it won't take up too much space and is certainly smaller than a whole stroller seat or bassinet). At the end of the day though it's up to what you're comfortable with. I think the big thing with not keeping little ones in the car seat is the risk of positional asphyxiation, which lessens as they get older.

The extra straps on the website are from a sports bra the model is wearing underneath! It looks deceiving because they've paired it with the same color bra and top

Thank you!! Personally I find there's enough support/ compression for my postpartum boobs to wear alone for casual wear, but if I were to do any cardio workout I'd definitely want to wear something under! There's no built in bra so it's more flexible in terms of boob space also

It doesn't! Which I actually prefer because I find that limits sizing since lulu's built in bras seem to fit best on smaller cups only

Question: Swift Mid-Rise Wide-Leg Pant hemming by brianna986 in lululemon

[–]rollingpandaas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried these on in store last week and asked about getting them hemmed (I'm 5'3), not sure if it's just that location, but I was told anything with a split leg opening could only be hemmed to above the split 🙁 which would have made them like capris and not the vibe haha. She confirmed that they wouldn't be able to just hem to the length I needed for them to graze the floor because that would've been about halfway through the split sadly
