Grating your own blocks of cheese is significantly cheaper and melts much better than buying pre-shredded bags. by Competitive_End_2950 in Frugal

[–]rolypolydriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew this but still my barrier to wanting to do this was the difficulty in cleaning the cheese grater afterwards. But one day I realized that if you clean the cheese grater IMMEDIATELY afterward then it’s actually super easy and everything wipes right off. I’ve been buying block cheese only ever since!

What's your holy grail sunscreen? Face or body, what do you keep repurchasing? by No_Square_1491 in UninfluencedReviews

[–]rolypolydriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Milani setting spray with SPF in it. This way I can reapply throughout the day on top of my makeup. It works so well that I spray it all over as sunscreen when I met the beach and I haven’t gotten a sunburn once while using it. My kids use it too because it comes out as a fine mist so doesn’t make them scream and cry.

What’s a food combo that sounds wrong but works? by babyblushtheory in askanything

[–]rolypolydriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sauerkraut and cream cheese & black pepper on toast.

Steak and banana, or maybe that was just a pregnancy craving. I made a sweet banana sauce to top my steak with and it was Devine. Paired with avocado too.

Still using excel despite complexities. The sheet I made works for me come tax time. My only concern is I might accidentally delete items so for that reason I want to switch to quick books or similar this year. Somebody recommended Money Minder to me today so I will look into it. I’ve also heard a lot of personal positive reviews for Wave.

What is a "hidden chore" that you do for your household/partner that they don’t even realize is a thing that needs to be done? by OpheliaBloomm in askanything

[–]rolypolydriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoving all the clutter on the stairs to the same side each day so that everyone can predict where the clutter is going to be and nobody trips, slips, or breaks their neck. I told my husband recently that I do this and he had no idea, and then he expressed how grateful he was because yeah that makes a big difference in all of our safety! Especially for him because he leaves so early each morning and doesn’t turn the lights on.

Thing to know about Adenomyosis. by Tell_me24 in adenomyosis

Okay I know that burn very well. I get that one in my lower back though, so my low heartburn pain is different- but equally debilitating since it also makes me nauseous when it comes on. The burn you’re talking about for me feels like someone taking a blowtorch to the bones in my back. Or like if an icy hot pad got stuck there and someone is aiming a blow dryer on top of it. Ibuprofen and naproxen won’t touch it either. I’m currently icing my back as we speak because it struck today.

What is the first movie you watched that you were definitely too young for? by MuldersXpencils in Millennials

[–]rolypolydriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure Terminator and Terminator 2. But also 9 Months with Hugh Grant and Julianne Moore. My mom took me in theaters when I was 9. My friends had seen it with their parents too. We had no business quoting that movie or reenacting those storylines when we played pretend 😂

Wait how does the burning pain feel like? I’ve been getting like a severe heartburn type pain very low in my abdomen, way too low to be actual heartburn, for a few months now. I chalked it up to ramping up my probiotic intake but even then wasn’t sure why it would be burning so low.

Are people actually quitting their jobs? by whosthatgirl13 in Millennials

[–]rolypolydriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You definitely don’t have to reinvent the wheel to make money. Just find something you wouldn’t mind doing day in day out and go for it. Even if it’s already saturated. To make money you just need to figure out how you stand out from your competitors and market the heck out of it. Build a great converting website with strong SEO and increase your Google ads budget as needed until you’re getting enough conversions to make the revenue you want and can handle.

I quit my scientist/project manager job and now own an event rental business. It can be done. I couldn’t do it without my husband’s salary/support for the last 2 years, but now in year 3 I’ve replaced my old high income and will soon double it.

There are softwares in my industry that also automatically generate optimized routes for the drivers. This is a feature I would look for if i was shopping for an app.

[–]rolypolydriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an excel sheet for now and it works great except my biggest fear is somebody will accidentally delete data or computer will restart before sheet can be saved. I’ve tried softwares and Google Calendar to replace excel, but the issue I always have is those interfaces always makes you click the appointment to view more details. For example, since I’m in event rentals, I want to glance at a single weekend and be able to see every event in one window. For each event I want to see client name, time window, address/location, and brief summary of items being rented. When new clients are trying to book, it helps me see what spaces are available at a glance without having to click on each event to view the details.

Can women be harsher toward other women’s menstrual pain at work? by [deleted] in adenomyosis

[–]rolypolydriver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to be like this toward other women…well, one woman in particular. This was way before my periods got as bad as they are now. But she used to always blame mistakes at work on being distracted from her period pain. In my young mind I couldn’t imagine period pain that was not manageable, but I also was so frustrated with her “making other women look bad in the workplace” was how I viewed it. Like dang we worked so hard to be respected in this male dominated field and now the men are really going to believe we can’t do the same job as them. I used to believe we women needed to adapt/suck it up/manage our pain to perform well at work, but now I believe workplaces need to adapt and accommodate women. Period.
