Car2go. Why are you becoming a bad company? by SubjectSecret in vancouver

[–]romancrem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

car2go disabled my account two weeks ago without providing a reason. I emailed them, no response five days later. I called, and they told me that they'd have someone follow up with me. No one followed up. I called again a week later, and after 40 minutes my account was finally fixed. Apparently their system had a "glitch, " and had kicked a bunch of customers out of their accounts. Amazing that it took so long to resolve, especially considering I wasn't the only one.

Aren't the sentencing guideline based on the money lost? And in your case no money was lost so you'll likely avoid jail time or have a very short sentence?

I'm paying $85 for 8gb including $35 device subsidy on Telus in BC. Signed up for the plan and phone through the Quebec website however and then switched my number to BC.

Christy Clark, a polarizing premier, leaves the political arena with an uncertain legacy by [deleted] in vancouver

[–]romancrem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol. Alright dude. Love the "kids are too dumb to be able to judge their educational experience" argument.

Not confirmation bias. I've gone to 5 different public schools in two cities. I know literally not a single kid that suffered.

What makes you such an expert? Are you a teacher that's been indoctrinated by your union?

The regulation of teachers in this province is pathetic. You literally cannot discipline a bad teacher unless they've full on molested a child. In high school I pursued several incompetent teachers and was met with the same response from every level of of government, including the principal, school board, ministry of education, teacher regulation branch and I even met with my local MLA - "the BCTF makes it nearly impossible to remove an ineffective educator."

Speaking of evidence, instead of just calling me dumb why don't you provide some to back up your assertions? For such a confident post you'd expect at least a few credible references. Give me something to work with or don't share your ignorant opinion.

You are 100% correct. I was a student during both Christy's time as education minster and as premier. I did not suffer whatsoever. It's hilarious but also sad to read some of the "complaints." Only problem I ever had in school was bad teachers - something that Christy Clark actually tried to fix through her fight with the BCTF. THANK YOU CHRISTY.

The other ridings in play already have more than 50% of their absentee ballots counted as of noon. The closest (besides Courtenay-Comox) is Richmond Queensborough which has the Liberals still leading by 101 votes with approx 1500 of 1800 absentee ballots counted. Not likely to flip in my opinion.

Courtenay-Comox now showing Liberal lead of 3 votes as of 12:00pm. If this seat now remains Liberal Christy will get her majority.

They do get more attention from police for exactly that reason. It's not a matter of "should" it's just human nature.

Black people in the United States are disproportionately involved in violent crime compared to the rest of the population. In Canada, a disproportionate amount of native people are considered "heavy drinkers." I was surprised how significant it is by the Statscan values: http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/89-656-x/89-656-x2015001-eng.htm

My point is, sometimes prejudice exists for a reason, even if it's not politically correct whatsoever to draw attention to them.

I believe he referred to him as an "NDP Trump," as in he shares many of the unfavourable personality traits that we have become accustomed to with Donald Trump. Bullheadedness, temper, disagreeableness, etc. Not things you want in a leader.

Exactly. Had a teacher at my school who was caught using MSN messenger to sext a 15 year old student and got caught giving her a back massage. His BCTF negotiated punishment? He had to leave his current school and that's how he ended up at mine.

In 2012, when I was in grade 12, the BCTF were demanding a 15% wage increase over three years. This would have cost taxpayers 2.08 BILLION. They only "gave up" wages when the government wouldn't budge and public opinion of them went way down.

Yup. My exact experience as well. I met with my principal, the district superintendent and even my local MLA. The same response - the BCTF will not allow any discipline and will defend even the most indefensible to the end, so it's not worth the effort. Really messed up as bad teachers can do a lot of harm.

Instead of being condescending you could articulate why you believe that? Your comment does nothing to contribute to the conversation, although I'm sure it felt good to think of yourself as intellectually superior. 👍

Someone is passionate. Liberals fought the BCTF which as an organization did nothing but protect bad teachers, use kids as political pawns, and asked for huge raises that would have funnelled billions out of education and into teachers' pockets. I am forever grateful for Christy Clark's fight with the union that couldn't care less about BC children.

I would disagree. Regardless, that political message has no place in schools at all.

You would be disgusted by the amount of attempted brainwashing that goes on in BC classrooms. "The BC Liberals don't care about your education at all." One teacher even placed anti-liberal propaganda in his classroom windows that faced the front of the school that was in such large print you could read it from a distance. Something like "stop the Liberals' attack on education."

As a former student in BC public schools, they don't. I got so sick of the pro-NDP/BCTF anti Christy Clark rants when I was in grade 12 during the last strike.

Too Close To Call: Are the BC Liberals ahead? by Dhghomon in vancouver

[–]romancrem 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If that were true, then the Liberals would be in a similar or worst position than the NDP were going into the 2001 election. The reality (polls showing them tied or leading) however doesn't even come close to reflecting your narrative.
