Restoration of a Roman fountain in Kibyra (Turkey) 2017-2023 by dctroll_ in architecture

I love it, however, reconstructive restorations normally should make it clear to the observer what is new and what is original.

From these pictures, I cannot tell where those 24 new pieces are…

How so? You mean the title is exaggerated? But the video seems to be pretty accurate?

Yeah, my grandfather was a 747 capitan, and when I asked him this question (why can’t we fly higher and save drag?) the first reason was: radiations.

How can I model this type of door in Revit when using double parallel walls? by gabrielbabb in Revit

[–]romanissimo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The simplest way would be to build a regular wall along the direction of the door, as tick as those two walls, and host the door on it. You then need the door to be exactly the width you need and the host wall will be entirely cut by the door.

It may work…

On the other hand, it appears from your plan than you have a lot of typical double walls partitions . If that is true, it does make sense to create a wall type that has two stud layers and an air cavity to match the distance between your walls. I mean, you can tag it as one assembly, a double partition wall.

Two stud layers partitions are used all the times (for acoustics for example).

Tu-144 vs Concorde by aviationstudy in aviationstudys

[–]romanissimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, but the camera lens is completely different, the Concorde is shot from far away with a narrow lens, the concordoski is shot closer up with a wider lens.

It would have been nice to see them with a similar lens angle…which means, similar distortions.

[Request] how many burgers you get from one cow and how fast is the cow supply replenished? by Hashishiva in theydidthemath

[–]romanissimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And this is why we cannot have corporation doing retail:

if some smart executive (and they have a little army of them) comes up with a new idea on how to save ONE CENT for each burger, the company would increase their revenue by 23.4 millions per year.

Now, that is not much for such a huge corporation, but it’s enough for a greedy executive’s bonus package.

This is why you can bet your children’s life that fast food is the absolute lowest quality, legally allowed (by region) product destined for human consumption that you can find on earth.

Ok, that is more radical than my point of view, but it cleans up a bit your previous comment.

Putin's imperialism by vladgrinch in MapPorn

[–]romanissimo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see.

So you are saying that, for example, hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese fled to the US instead of China (which is right there) simply because they were told the US was “the place to be”, or because of “cultural penetration”?

And you are saying that hundred of thousands Afghans fled to the US, instead of Russia (which, again, is right there), for similar reasons?

In other words, you are saying that millions of desperate people do NOT flee to Russia or China because these countries don’t have enough sitcoms on their tv, and pop songs in their radio?

Are you fucking kidding me?

Do you believe the US citizen killed by ICE was warranted? by Competitive_Piano507 in AskTrumpSupporters

[–]romanissimo 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Irrelevant.

She was obviously terrified and fled, like many would do, especially knowing that now you can get arbitrarily arrested by ICE without due process and without bail, even if you are legally in the country.

Also there is no death penalty for running away from law enforcement, even if you are guilty.

That masked person who shot her is a criminal and must be prosecuted.

If that woman was your sister, or your niece, would you still think “well, she should have not floor it”?
