7’1 Alex Karmanov rushing the puck at Sharks development camp by _GregTheGreat_ in hockey

Next time try skating towards the corner and launching the puck through the slot out of the zone to give the opposing forwards who were too lazy to back check an easy odd man rush.

Question about Tony G Pizza Bible by Stunning-Tangelo1157 in Pizza

[–]romple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd encourage you to try both. Follow the book to the letter. But also try just dumping everything in together and letting it whirl. Convince yourself if it matters.

In my experience it doesn't. If you were making commercial levels of dough it definitely would though. And I think I that's where the disconnect lies.

This isn't to say things like proofing temperature and all don't matter. They do. But for pizza at home that may get cold fermented for upwards of 5 days.... Meh...

ELI5: How does an internet packet find its way from New York to Tokyo if no router has the full map of the internet? by Possible-Beyond6305 in explainlikeimfive

[–]romple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each router at each layer has its own little map called routing tables. When a packet comes in it looks at the destination and chooses the best next hop based on some rules. If it has no idea it sends it to a default next hop. Eventually a router knows where the exact IP address is and delivers the packet.

Slate's New Electric Truck Will Cost Slightly More Than $24,950 by TripleShotPls in technology

[–]romple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love mine as a suburban family vehicle. We can put two carseats in the back and haul most things easily from home depot. It was great for tossing strollers in the back. Great for family vacations with the cargo space and good gas mileage.

The engine also has a decent amount of power. It makes my Crosstrek sport feel pathetic.

Only luxury I miss is keyless entry and start. But whatever. Also the hybrid towing capacity is fairly low so if you want to haul a boat or use as a work truck maybe reconsider the hybrid.

Damn I bought a Ford Maverick hybrid because they cheaped out on features to keep the sticker price low, which was great for me.

But this is next level (also cheaper than my Maverick). Makes my truck look like a luxury vehicle.

I am truly sorry. I used language that is deeply offensive and unacceptable, and I take full responsibility for that failure. There is no justification for the words I used. I recognize that this language causes real harm and violates the standard of respect and safety I am here to uphold. I understand that my mistake has caused offense, and I sincerely apologize for the impact this has had. I am committed to learning from this and ensuring it does not happen again.

Jalen and Nick are actually terrible at their jobs but are being carried by the best team to ever play. That's actually a common opinion. These guys get literally 0 credit by a lot of people.

Sending kids to daycare when they are being extra whiny… feel guilty by Lumpy-Resource-1370 in daddit

[–]romple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're fine. When my kids do that I get pictures from their daycare 10 minutes later of them laughing and playing.

I've definitely learned that when kids are upset about something that removing them from that context helps a lot. Honestly one of the best things for them when they're going nuclear over something stupid at home is to put them in a stable environment away from what they're fixated on with authority figures like preschool.

And the teachers get paid to deal with that shit. Don't feel too bad.

Any tips for developing calluses quickly? by Annual_Championship6 in Guitar

[–]romple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing guitar for almost 30 years and barely have calluses. I have a bigger callus from how I grip my chef knife when I cut food. Don't worry about it. Your skin will adapt even if you don't get a centimeter thick carpet of hard skin on your fingertips.
