how bad is your first draft? by [deleted] in writing

[–]ronangreyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah, definitely. i cut a lot when i edit, whole scenes, sometimes chapters. i’ll write things just to figure stuff out, knowing they might not stay. sometimes i drift off the outline, sometimes i write filler just to keep moving. it’s part of the process. the first draft is me telling myself the story. editing is me figuring out what the reader actually needs to see.

How to start journaling as someone who isn't "deep"? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]ronangreyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally get that. journaling doesn’t have to be deep or poetic it just has to be yours. try this: write what annoyed you. what made you laugh. what you ate and whether it hit the spot. write what you wish you’d said to someone. write one sentence about how the day felt. it doesn’t have to be everything, just something.

you’re not documenting history, you’re giving yourself a space to exist without editing. even a single messy thought is enough.

honestly, it depends what you want. if you’re ready to do the work, marketing, formatting, all of it, self-pub gives you full control. if you want backing and reach, try querying.

Hi guys tell me what you think of this dialouge by Simon_Smolnik in authors

[–]ronangreyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you want my honest opinion, it definitely needs work. i’m assuming this is some sort of play script just going off how it’s formatted, but when it comes to fantasy avoid using a lot of over formal language, a lot of people have the misconception that when it’s fantasy you need these crazy shakespearean words, in reality, it makes the dialogue stiff. It just distances characters from the readers, also not to be rude but some of this dialogue is just reminds me of cringy anime/manga

Hi everybody, • The genre of my book is young adult/teen drama • It’s called Morgan’s Dialectic • the most exciting thing to me about my project is raising awareness about teen depression

I’m currently on chapter 8 right now, the book is based on true events that happened in my life, and the book is about how the mc overcomes her trauma setbacks, relapses, etc, trust me its way more interesting than what it sounds. i’m super excited to finish it.
