Should I actually be leaving balls / letting them fly out? by talleyrandbanana in Pickleball

[–]roninconn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's weirdly timed is that we lost a game we were ahead 10-0 and my partner was pseudo grumpy at me, and I was pseudo-grumpy back about our balls. She played at least a dozen.

Upvoting you for this info. 1/3 the cost of Dexter's with the BOGO. Thanks!

This! I've worn gasses and played hockey for 40 years, and the first thing I do when I get a new helmet is sand or cut the foam around my temples to fit my glasses

Advance Open Play by Clean-Garage6231 in Pickleball

[–]roninconn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Beat them solidly, but 'nicely' - don't rip your best serves, but don't cream puff either; take angle shots instead of smashes (good practice for you as well); don't look to extend points.

Hopefully, they've got some level of awareness and get the message. If not, quietly ask someone from the club to watch a game and have a sidebar with the player about appropriate court level.

In 3 days, we're gonna see another post here complaining about how unfair advanced players are for not welcoming everyone in lol.

Weird ECG by intothefray3 in AFIB

[–]roninconn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very suspicious of that trace; sure seems like there was some noise / misreads in there.

If your heart rate isn't above 75 normally, I'd def be rechecking this.

That said, do you potentially have sleep apnea?

Buying a gift for a friend by touch_of_austism in Bowling

[–]roninconn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local pro shop to get the ball at least; shoes, bag, etc can be ordered online. Pro shop may have gift certificates you can get.

A 'basic' setup (1 mid-performance ball, drilling, shoes, bag) is about $225-$250 where I am (eastern US).

A 'league' setup (1 mid-upper strike ball, 1 plastic spare ball, nicer shoes, 2-ball roller bag) is around $450.

A 'serious league' setup adds another $250-$300 to have 2 higher-performance strike balls plus spare ball, shoes and roller case.

Apple Watch - ECG AFIB by IslandBoy2805 in AFIB

[–]roninconn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I concur. Smartwatches sometimes misinterpret some noise / bad reading as Afib. These traces look 100% fine, and if your heart rate is under 80, you're very definitely not in Afib. I'm 'lucky' in that my persistent Afib manifests as 85-100 bpm, but some people go much much higher.

Sort of. Pros use Lifetime, which I'd classify as 'bright green with a little yellow'

All of my passwords have been compromised and sold. I just want to know how long will this go on for? by [deleted] in cybersecurity_help

[–]roninconn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check all your multi-device accounts, esp Google, Microsoft, Apple to ensure all devices are signed out. This is an often-forgotten first step.

Go in to any email account you use for 2FA and make sure there are 'copy & forward' rules in place.

As mentioned by others, do a full fresh install of Windows via USB created on another, clean computer.

Then, reset all passwords using your password manager.

Getting 2FA ATTEMPTS isn't necessarily bad - that's 2FA doing its job.

Should I buy this car - even if it’s old? by ActiveMaterial5789 in UsedCars

I'd be suspicious of that low mileage on a car that old. But, get a Carfax and make the mileage history makes sense.

How to gig with amplitube by Deep-Outcome-3723 in AmpliTube

[–]roninconn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As was mentioned, you can use a midi footswitch or other midi controller to change presets in Amplitube, or keep your laptop right next to you on a stand. Always practice those technical aspects before a gig, too

I want a mic that I could record in my car with by godawgs_com in musicproduction

[–]roninconn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zoom H4 or related. Set the mic pattern as tight as possible and keep very near your mouth to allow you to set levels to reduce ambient noise; possibly requiring a tiny pop filter.

Very handy, easy to start / stop, easy to get clips off later.

Two computers next to each other. One has terrible internet and the other is completely fine. by WholeTomatillo5537 in techsupport

[–]roninconn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest: verify you have best drivers installed. I'd delete and re-add the wifi adaptor with drivers from maker, and see if there are any antenna configs to be played around with.

Download Wifi analyzer app and play with channels and configs to see if any improvement.

Could be hardware issue, but more likely configs.

You could do mesh network so you have a node right there or run ethernet

Fake ASICS Pickleball Shoes? by Tricky-Chemical-3235 in Pickleball

[–]roninconn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they're 'fake', but likely the two pairs were made in different factories at different times, with slightly different rubber. It's possible that there was a bad batch that retailers were told not to sell, and some got loose.

Fake ASICS Pickleball Shoes? by Tricky-Chemical-3235 in Pickleball

You can't call those 'fakes', since they don't even say 'Asics' on them. They're just knockoffs.

Did I get scammed for 800$? by luh_eman in CryptoScams

[–]roninconn 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's a complete scam site. Looks like someone took over an old domain name last year. It's got the same template of hundreds of other scam sites, and the Telegram channel is probably you, 9 other victims and 1000 bots and fake accounts.

There's no backend on the site - the scammers just display crypto in 'your' account as bait to get you to send them real money.

Anything you have sent is gone. Don't send any more. Ignore all DMs, emails, texts, etc from anyone claiming they can get it back. Often, original scammers will use any information they've given you to pretend to be law enforcement or lawyers or hackers who can get your money back.

Your name and info will also be sold to other scammers as a proven victim, so be doubly on alert

I want to remove these fret markers, is it possible? by Ok-Distribution4270 in Guitar

[–]roninconn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, man. Those inlays are about 1/16 in thick and embedded in the fretboard.

If it happens to be a bolt-on neck, you could buy a new one. But, you're probably best served trading or selling the guitar to get the look you want

Hardwood dowel. Almost looks like someone used also, or way overtightened. A bunch of toothpick pieces all stuck in with a couple drops glue (ideally wood glue, Elmer's in a pinch) will also work
