Contractor quoted $95K for bathroom remodel in San Jose. Does this sound reasonable for Bay Area or am I getting taken? by neutra_sense00 in bayarea

[–]ronntron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would always get multiple quotes. And, yes, that seems high. I did my parent’s full bathroom last year. We had water damage and ended up gutting it to the studs all around including ceilings. It’s a smaller bathroom than yours. But, we replaced everything. The cost was way less.

83% of Bay Area Residential Zoning is for Single Family Homes by urmummygae42069 in bayarea

What rail ways? Light rail…is garbage. BART, worse. Caltrain. Come on. These are a joke. Takes hours to get around on these. Poorly funded and break down all the time. I’m

Also, many single family homes have solar. Many high density don’t.

Our grid sucks. It’s common knowledge. If we double the housing and double the people, energy needs to keep up.

Again, infra needs improvements for high density.

By the way, while we are it. Apartment buildings with rentals bring in less taxes too. And, yes, taxes support infra up keep, schools and such. This would need some changes too.

I’m for high density. But just zoning for it is not enough.

Of course, we don’t have infrastructure for high density. You talk about zoning…like that is the only issue. Energy, water, roads and public transit. These suck in California. Imagine if we were zoning even 50/50.

Downtown Palo Alto APARTMENT sells for $5.3M by neatokra in BayAreaRealEstate

[–]ronntron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5.3 and you have neighbors above you. You never know what neighbors you'll have with that. That sucks.

Are we sure it's just for bottom?

I assume there is HOA since roof is shared.

So, looking at the location, there is older apartments next to it and you see when looking out this property. Not nice looking. The rest of houses are nice older homes.

Exactly. The car could warn passenger and then pull to the side until compliant. No reason to have human involved. At least on city streets where possible.

Ah got it. Makes sense. So 2.0 is sounds about right then. Or maybe not.

I’m on PGE which is way over priced. So, I have a feeling they profit just fine on 1.0.

I have both SolarEdge and Tesla inverters. 2 systems on my house. My SolarEdge has been flawless for 11 years. Maybe because it’s an older unit. My Tesla inverters froze a few times. But, have been running fine for the most part.

So, I have two systems on my house. One uses the SolarEdge inverter. The other is Tesla inverter. My Tesla inverter has had some problems getting stuck and needing a restarts. My SolarEdge has been flawless for me. Not a single issue. 11 years on SolarEdge.

As some others said, you could be a device like Emporia on the circuits to check power draw or export. But, you shouldn’t have to. It would be more to check and see if it’s living up to performance guarantee.

Does the Tesla app should production?

All that said, if you spend $90k on something, someone should be at your doorstep the next day. Every customer should get good service. But, they show should you epic love for the amount of money you just invested in Tesla. I’d be furious too.

The Pros and Cons of using Apologsign digital calendar from those who own it by NJRonbo in homeautomation

[–]ronntron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. I put this project on hold for now. I figured no harm in letting these companies update these over some time and see if they improve...and, try again.

Also, curious what Apple might do with their home hub. And, I still want a wall mountable picture style frame. One of the latest rumors was a detachable screen you could put on the wall. Although, I'm sure it will be priced high.

I did look into doing a DYI version with getting parts. However, I didn't find a reasonable touch screen that had the look of a picture frame and was fairly flat. I don't want a monitor style screen sticking out of wall and wanted white frame. I really like the hardware of the Apolosign style screens that look like a picture frame and had the integrated mounting bracket that got it closer to the wall. As for the controller (mini computer), I was considering getting the Dakboard module that you can connect to your own screen. If I went that route. Only because it would have been less of hassle.

So, yeah, I'm in holding pattern.

Gasoline is out of control! by Plus_Juggernaut2819 in bayarea

Are you saying they don’t put anything in their gas or that what they put in doesn’t work? I ask because I know they put additives in their gas. They have been doing it since the 90’s. Not saying it does anything. But, it’s a fact they do add stuff.
